SALIENT FEATURES OF THIS BOOK
ARE AS FOLLOWS:
COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH: This textbook
consists of 15 chapters organized in a pedagogical
sequence covering various concepts explained with
the help of more than 1200 line diagrams and screen
capture images.
TUTORIAL APPROACH: The author has adopted the
tutorial point-of-view with learn-by-doing approach
throughout the textbook. This approach guides the users
through the process of creating the models in the tutorials.
REAL-WORLD PROJECTS AS TUTORIALS: The author has used about
60 real-world mechanical engineering projects as tutorials in this book.
This enables the readers to relate these tutorials in the book to the
real-world models in the mechanical engineering industry. In addition,
there are about 30 exercises that are also based on the real-world
mechanical engineering projects.
TIPS AND NOTES: Additional information is provided throughout the
textbook in the form of tips and notes.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The first page of every chapter summarizes the
topics that are covered in it.
SELF-EVALUATION TEST, REVIEW QUESTIONS, AND EXERCISES: Every chapter ends with a
Self-Evaluation test so that the users can assess their knowledge of the chapter. The answers to the
Self-Evaluation test are given at the end of the chapter. Also, the Review Questions and Exercises given
at the end of each chapter can be used by the Instructors as test questions and exercises.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Prof. Sham Tickoo is professor of Manufacturing Engineering at Purdue University Calumet, USA where he has taught
design, drafting, CAD, and other engineering courses for over nineteen years. Before joining Purdue University, Prof.
Tickoo has worked as a machinist, quality control engineer, design engineer, engineering consultant, and software
developer. He has received a US patent for his invention Self Adjusting Cargo Organizer for Vehicles.
ABOUT THE BOOK
NX 9 for Engineers and Designers textbook introduces the readers to NX 9, the worlds leading parametric solid modeling package.
In this textbook, the author emphasizes on the solid modeling techniques that improve the productivity and efficiency of the users. Also,
the chapters in this textbook are arranged in a pedagogical sequence that makes this textbook very effective in learning the features and
capabilities of the software.
