I Greeting and Aim


Take color flashcards for: red, yellow, blue, green; alphabet flashcards from a to c(apple to
carrot).
Hold up one alphabet flashcard e.g. apple and ask pupils to draw the picture in their notebooks.
Hold up one color flashcard e.g. red, say the word and ask pupils to color their picture with that
color.
Take a ball and play a ball game with numbers. Say one and throw the ball to S1. S1 says
two and throws it to S2. Count until ten. The last student has to recite his\her favorite
poem or sing his\her favorite song.
Repeat the letters of ABC from the poster on the board. Ask students to open their books on
page___ Ex.___. Ask volunteers to read the letters and the sounds from the English ABC. Read
the activity together with the class. Ask volunteers to sing the letters and the sounds. Ask what
words they know with these letters.

II 1. Presenting new vocabulary

Take some pictures of people and children. Show the pictures to students and say that these
are your family pictures. Show your father, mother, sister, brother, grandmothers and a
grandfather.
Ask students to look at the family picture in their books.
T: Open your books. Ex. 2 p.__. Look at the picture/ what can you see here? Yes, a family. Is it a
big or a little family? Who can you see here. Do you have a family like this? Listen, repeat and
point new words.
Students listen to their teacher, repeat and point. The teacher points and the students read the
words. Ask volunteers to read the words and other students will follow them.

2. Pairwork. Dialogue
Ask students to look at Ex.3 page___ in their books. Explain the meaning of the answers Yes
and No. Write the short answers on the board with faces and . Ask students to repeat
yes and no. Ask students to give short answers without you while youre showing faces on
the board.
Ask questions from the books about the members of students families. Students listen to you
and give short answers to your questions.
Students ask and answer with their partners about the members of their families as in the
example.
T: So now we can say about ourselves and about our families.
T: Hello! Im Olesia Myroslavivna! Im ten. I have a family. I have mother, father, sister, brother,
two grandmothers and one grandfather. My family is big. I love my family. (Mime the word
Love or show the flashcard of heart for example).
Ask students to talk about themselves and about their families. All students have to tell about
themselves.

3. Practice new vocabulary


Students look at Ex. 4 in their books. Students look at the pictures and name the members of
the family. Ask volunteers to name the pictures to the whole class.

4. ABC Song
T: And now, my dear students its time for English ABC. Look at Ex. 5 in your books. Listen to the
song and follow the letters in your books.

5. Learning new vocabulary. Letters D E F

Ask students to look at Ex. 6 in their books. Name the letters DEF again and ask the students
to repeat. Ask volunteers to name the letters in a random order without you.
Ask students to look at Ex. 7 in their books. Explain and demonstrate to the pupils that these
are the sounds these letters make. So Dd (give the name of the letter) makes the sound [d]
(give the sound of the letter), Ee can make the sound *i:+ when it is at the end of the word for
example and the sound *e+, Ff makes the sound *f+.
Ask the pupils to listen again and repeat the letters, the sounds and the words. Ask volunteers
to read the letters and the sounds in a random order.

6. Letter Chant
Ask students to listen to the chant and follow in their books- Ex8 p.__. Ask students to join in.
ask volunteers to sing the chant.

7. Handwriting practice.
Point to the pictures in Ex.9 p.___. Tell pupils to join the letter to the object that begins with
that letter. Then tell them to continue the line and add the letter to the other letters. Then tell
them to write the first letter in the words to make the word. Show the pupils how to do this
with the first example of a-apple.
Check the answers by asking one pupil the sound of the first letter in the activity and another
the word at the end. Do this procedure for all the letters.

8. Game
Take color flashcards for: red, yellow, green and blue; flashcards with the words: apple, ant,
book.etc.
Divide the class into two teams: Green and Yellow. Hold up the flashcards one by one and ask
individual pupils from each team in turn to say the words. Each correct answer scores a point
for the team.
Ask individuals the name and the sound of the initial letter of each word on the flashcard. Each
correct answer scores a point for the team.
