ABOUT THE PROJECT
This is about the construction of Mosque in Village Bugna & Khairabad. These
villages are in UC Darna of District Muzaffarabad. There was a small mosque for the
villager which was affected by the earth quake of 2005. Roof and walls of the
mosque were very having cracks and during rains the prayer mats were also gone
wets in winters. Local community started the construction of new mosque but after
some construction, their resources were not allowing them to continue further.
Construction work was stopped for more than 2 years. DM AID & KDF were running
a skill development center in this village. ON the visit of both organizations to the
village, villagers requested to provide financial support to complete the Mosque.
Danish Muslim AID funded this project through its only implementing partner in
Pakistan i.e. Karwan Development Foundation.

DM AID Visit to Village Bugna, AJK
It was November 2013, when Member Advisory Board Mr. Ibrahim Jesper visited
Kashmir to see the projects funded by Danish Muslim Aid through Karwan
Development Foundation. During this visit Mr. Ibrahim also visited Village Bugna to
see the Skill Development Center for females. On that visit, some people from the
community met him and requested to help for the Mosque Construction. Mr.
Ibrahim and KDF staff members inquired about the project and visited the in
complete building of the Mosque. KDF staff was visiting this village for last one year
and witnessed the situation of the Mosque during this time.
Since Mosque construction is not among the projects of DMAID so it was not
committed with the community of Village Bugna that we will fund Mosque
Construction.
Later on in a meeting at Islamabad, it was mutually agreed between DMAID and
KDF that a brief proposal will be shared with DM AID by KDF for the mosque
construction project so that it may be shared with some of the individual Muslims in
Denmark for any possible support.
Proposal was then shared with DMAID in December 2013, project detail and
estimated cost was included in the proposal.
DMAID SUPPORT
DM AID Responded the matter on 1st of January 2014 with a very positive and
interesting note that a newlywed couple contacted DMAID office in Denmark and
donated all the money which was received from the family and friends in the
wedding ceremony. Intention of the couple was to start their life with a good start,
which they did in shape of donation to a Mosque.
Now situation was changed, DMAID informed us that whole donation received from
the wedding couple will be sent to Pakistan for the Mosque construction project,
and interestingly the amount was more than the amount required in the proposal. It
was advised by DM AID that since we have sufficient amount, we will also arrange
for lights, fans and prayer mats in the mosque.
MOSQUE CONSTRUCTION
Construction of Mosque was done with community participation in labor and
mason work. It took two months to complete the construction work.

INAUGURATION
Construction of Mosque was completed in April 2014, which was then visited by KDF
and DMAID representatives. Secretary General, Danish Muslim Aid Mr. Abdul Wahid
inaugurated the Mosque.
Community was thankful to the DMAID and KDF for the help in Mosque
Construction. Mr. Abdul Wahid Shared his views on the project At last special prayer
was made for the newlywed couple and the community.
