GP202MOOC HW1-Solutions PDF

This document provides solutions to homework problems for a reservoir geomechanics course. It includes instructions to calculate overburden stress, overburden gradients, and porosity from density logs for two wells. The solutions show density and porosity profiles plotted against depth, and provide specific values for stress, gradients, and porosity at given depths in the two wells.

b. Divide the density profiles into 5 blocks.

c. Calculate the overburden stress.

d. Calculate the overburden gradient (overburden stress normalized by depth).

Part 2: Compute porosity from density logs

a. Compute porosity assuming complete saturation and hydrostatic pore pressure.
b. Plot porosity vs. depth for each dataset.

Part 3: Answers to Homework 1 Questions
