As early as in 1885 the

following was certain for
Paul Hartmann:
Only uncompromising quality

latest standards are the basis
for future-oriented medical care.
In close co-operation with physicians and other scientists of
his time, Paul Hartmann managed to achieve a decisive
position in the development, manufacture and marketing
of new dressing materials.
Revolutionary examples in these years were absorbent cotton
wool according to Bruns or the antiseptic carbolated gauze
according to Lister. For us, progressive ideas from practice
are as important today as they were at that time. It was
Paul Hartmann who laid the foundation for our corporate
principles:
The claim to supply only the best for the preservation of
human health.

Operating Theatre Products

We have been successfully

contributing to more safety
in the operating theatre for
decades.

An important step toward more safety in the operating

theatre was our development of the inter-weavable X-ray
detectable thread Telatrast with which, since then, all dressings and swabs for use in the operating room are equipped.
The radio detectable medium enables reliable verification if
dressing material had been left in the wound area. Additional safety is provided by the assembling of Telatrast
dressing materials in modules with control stickers which
make double-check counts and documentation easier for
the operating theatre staff.
We make an important contribution to the solution of the
problem of the transmission of germs in the operating
theatre. We took up the challenge of effectively eliminating
possible routes of infection by patients, operating theatre
staff, instruments and air with safe disposable products. The
result is an end-to-end range for complete asepsis: disposable surgical gloves, disposable theatre clothing as well as
disposable surgical drapes for the patient and the operating
theatre environment specially developed for major and minor
surgery. Standard custom procedure trays for frequently
occurring operations and an extensive range of individually
packed supplementary products as well as individually
designed procedure trays for specific uses guarantee systematic and safe performance of work.

The Foliodrape instrument cover is folded in a telescopic

tube style to enable easy covering of the instrument table
by one person without problems.

Operating theatre products only become really safe when

the packaging technology also meets the requirements for
asepsis. For this reason our operating theatre products are
protected by multiple layers of packaging to keep them
sterile until use.
