TTCL Vietnam Corporation Limited- Toyo-Thai Corporation Public Company Limited
1. Who we are: TTCL Vietnam Corporation Limited was incorporated at the beginning of 1997. Initially, TVC was a
joint-venture of TTCL Public Company Limited (TTCL) the first all round engineering company in Thailand and one
Vietnamese partner. At the end of 1998, TVC became a 100% foreign owned company.
At its first establishment, TVC acted as an engineering contractor who specialized in design, engineering,
procurement of equipment & materials and construction management of projects for industrial and process plants
including their facilities. The field of plant engineering and construction management services covered to chemical,
petrochemical, oil and gas, fertilizers, infrastructures, environment and so on.
Late 2001, to meet the market demand, TVC extended its business lines to civil and office buildings and scope of
services extended to construction itself.
As a commitment to customer satisfaction in 2001, TVC was certified by DNV for its quality management system in
compliance with international standard ISO 9001:2008
With its competent and enthusiastic staffs, equipped with up-to-date engineering, construction and project
management technology adopted from sister companies in TTCL Group, TVC will definitely satisfy all the investors
demands and requirements and thereby make their business a success.
Nowadays TVC has around 280 multi-disciplines engineers for a whole industrial project included Electrical,
Instrument and control, Civil, Process, Piping and planning, Mechanical.

2.1. Front-end Loading
Front-end loading (FEL), also referred to as pre-project planning (PPP), front-end engineering design (FEED),
feasibility analysis, conceptual planning, programming/schematic design and early project planning, is the process for
conceptual development. This involves developing sufficient strategic information with which owners can address risk
and make decisions to commit resources in order to maximize the potential for success.
Front-end loading includes robust planning and design early in a projects lifecycle (i.e., the front end of a project),
at a time when the ability to influence changes in design is relatively high and the cost to make those changes is
relatively low. Though it often adds a small amount of time and cost to the early portion of a project, these costs are
minor compared to the alternative of the costs and effort required to make changes at a later stage in the project.
It also typically uses a stage-gate process, whereby a project must pass through formal gates at well defined
milestones within the projects lifecycle before receiving funding to proceed to the next stage of work.
2.2. Basic design and detail engineering
a. Basic Design
The first step in making a preliminary plant design for establishing a detailed commercial plant design is to work
out a process design. Process system design is a fundamental of the plant design.
As process design is usually handled by chemical engineers, one might thing that process design is basically
concerned with chemical engineering. However, process design cannot be accomplished merely by chemical
engineering knowledge, but only in cooperation with other engineering knowledge.
At early stage of Basing Engineering, the Plant Specification should be decided such as: Site condition, Plant
scheme (capacity), codes and standards, Feedstock specification, product specification, battery limit condition and
utilities Based on these conditions, process design is formulated and accomplished of the Kinetics of all types of
reactions and individual unit operations such as drying, distillation, separation, absorption and so on.
These process designs are integrated and illustrated in Piping and Instrument Flow Diagram (P&ID) which is a
fundamental of the detailed engineering, project implementation, construction and operation.
As for equipment, basic design is integrated in the equipment specification sheet. Making of a Plot Plan which
indicates the location of each unit is one of the important job in the basic engineering stage.
All basic design worked out in this phase are used as the basis for carrying out the succeeding phases of detailed
engineering.
b. Detailed Engineering
All the design details are worked out in this phase including
Civil and Building design Tower, /Vessel./Exchanger Design Planning and piping Design- Heater Design,
Instrument Design, Electrical Design, Rotating Design, Insulation Design, Transportation Planning, Construction
Planning
Each Design Engineer assigned in each department for the project is responsible for preparation of specifications
and drawings, technical requisitions and bid evaluation.
Equipment Engineering drawings and Manufacturing Drawings are required to manufacture and assemble the
parts to produce an operable piece of equipment.
Piping drawings, which represent piping layouts for architectural plans and plant layouts, are also needed not only
for the procurement of piping materials but for the construction of the final plant.
Details of Instrument/Civil/Electrical design are also worked out on the drawings for the construction in this
detailed engineering stage.
Requirement for transportation, construction, plant operation and maintenance shall, naturally, be incorporated in
the detailed engineering design.
The detailed design however, could not be completed without the feedback from various specialists who interface
in the matrix network organization. Furthermore, it is sometimes required to have discussions with manufacturers,
and if necessary, to change the design in accordance with the information from manufacturers, as well as from
Licensors and subcontractors.
Since the execution of detailed design is a complex group effort, a project engineer has to grasp the overall
process design, and control and manage the Total System Engineering which is a lubricating oil for a smoothly
functioning project.
2.3. Procurement management:
In the broad sense, procurement and procurement related activities occur during all phases of a construction
project. In general, the procurement cycle involves all or some of the following steps:
1. Issuance and processing of requisition
2. Solicitation of bids
3. Receipt and evaluation of proposals
4. Issuance of purchase order, subcontract or lease
5. Vendor preparation and submission of shop drawings
6. Review and approval of shop drawings above
7. Fabrication by Vendor
8. Tracking and expediting
9. Inspection
10. Shipment and Transportation
Each of these steps above mentioned involve complicated and difficult problems to solve for a smooth execution
of the project.
2.4. Construction management:
The principal objective of any field construction management should be to complete each construction project on
time and within the budget while maintaining an acceptable level of quality.
The scope of construction operation and management is broad and includes such topics as construction
contracts, planning and scheduling, construction method and materials, production and cost estimating, progress and
cost control, quality control and safety. They are listed as below:
Site Management Objectives
Field organization
Construction planning
Quality control
Schedule control
SSHE control
