Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers

Organic fertilizers include materials of plant or animal origin like manure, compost and crop residues. Inorganic fertilizers are mined minerals or manufactured through chemical processes. Organic fertilizers vary in quality and release nutrients slowly as microorganisms break them down, so often have limited effect unless combined with inorganic fertilizers. Inorganic fertilizers immediately supply nutrients but must be applied multiple times per season. Both have advantages - organic fertilizers improve soil properties over time while inorganic fertilizers supply quick nutrients - but also limitations like availability, costs, and land use for organic options. Effective fertilization requires understanding the different properties and using organic and inorganic options together.
