Personality Disorders

Personality disorders involve inflexible patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that make it difficult to cope with daily life. They are usually diagnosed in adolescence or early adulthood when these patterns cause problems in all areas of life. There are 10 types of personality disorders split into 3 categories related to suspicious, emotional/impulsive, or anxious tendencies. While personality disorders can be controversial diagnoses due to labeling concerns, treatment options aim to change patterns of thinking and behavior through therapies like CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy.
