Introduction
M.251B is a speed Log ppm output to
NMEA-0183 converter that enab|es conection f
every speed og that uses the "c|os|ng,, contact
interface with digital systems and instruments that
comp|y with the NMEA-o183 standards. he NM.
251B is capab|e of conerting the seed og
contact c|osres to a standard MEA $v/vHl/
string with checksm error contro| and output at
L, Rs.422 and Rs.232 signa| |eve|s.

NM-251B has one input port for connectinq to the seed |og that can be configured to interface both
contact and optocoup|er output tye Speed Logs. Further details on how to configre the NM.251B are
shown on tab|e configuration sha|| be done rior to connectin9 to the speed Log or e|se damage may occur to
the instrment.

NM.251B has five genera purpose output ports that are ab|e of transmitting MEA sentences in both Rs422
and L signa| |eve|s, depending on the connection too|ogy and each one can fan ot one instrument. current
drawn from each output port can be up to 20mA, emcient enough to drie any NEA compatib|e instrument.

he Rs-232 port can de|iver NMEA sentences to any modern computer rnning the appropriate soft{are on
\/indows 98 and above provided that seria| communication fo||ows the 4.8oo/8/N/1 standard.
