PRODUCT REFERENCE: REMOTE
The remote is an IR remote, and it can control any Core. Because
it is IR, it should be pointed toward the front of the Core and have
clear line-of-sight to the Core. The remote can control any Core.
If more than one Cores are side-by-side or close, one remote
may trigger one or more Cores. Generally, the keys on the
remote perform the same function as the matching keys on the
Core unit. Please note however that setup functions that require
pressing two keys at the same time must be performed on the
Core.

SETUP
1. The Core has a 50% pre-charge to allow for immediate
operation, but for best results charge it fully before use.
Connect the power adapter to the Cores DC input jack
and a wall outlet. The POWER indicator is yellow while
charging and turns green when the battery is 90% or more
charged.
2. Room placement is very flexible, however for the best
sonic imaging place the Core at the center of a wall rather
than in a corner, and for best bass response move with its
rear-side closer to a wall or any room boundary.
3. Orientation of the unit is also very flexible, however the
front of the Core should face the listening area for best
sonic imaging, to allow the IR sensor at the front of the
Core to detect signals from the remote, and to best orient
the microphone at the front of the Core for speakerphone
operation.

POWER SAVING
By default, when the power adapter is connected and the
Core turned on, it is in the always-on state.
To save power, you can enable the Auto Standby mode. In
Auto Standby mode, when the power adapter is connected
and the Core receives no audio signal for 30 minutes, from
any input (Bluetooth, Optical, or Aux), it automatically enters
the low-power standby mode. To wake the unit, press the
POWER key
The Auto Standby Mode can be enabled by pressing the
POWER key
for 10 seconds (until the LED indicator flashes
green) and disabled the same way (until the LED indicator
flashes red). When the Core is in the Standby Mode, the IR
remote control cannot control the unit (since it is not on).
If the Core is running on battery power and has no audio
signal from any input (Bluetooth, Optical, or Aux) for 10
minutes, it turns off to save battery power. To turn the Core
back on, press the POWER key

PLAY MUSIC
VIA BLUETOOTH
A wireless Bluetooth connection is the easiest way to deliver
content from a smartphone or tablet to the Core. Bluetooth
devices are paired to enable automatic connection
whenever they are within signal range (about 30 feet or 10
metres).
Pair a Bluetooth device:
1. Press the SOURCE key
until the LED indicator turns
blue and flashes.
2. Turn on Bluetooth on the source device and in the list of
available Bluetooth devices select Core-xxxxxx
(where xxxxxx are six alphanumeric characters). When the
source device and the Core are paired and connected,
the LED indicator on the Core stops flashing and remains
solid blue.
3. When the source device and the Core are connected via
Bluetooth, select music on the source device to play it
through the Core.
4. To avoid hearing the source devices sound notifications
(call, email, text, etc.) from the Core, disable them on the
source device. This function and method depends on your
source device.
Bluetooth connection:
When Bluetooth is enabled on the Core, the Core attempts to
auto-connect to the last connected source device.
If the last connected source device is within range of
the Core and both have Bluetooth enabled, they connect
automatically and then music or sounds from the source
are played through the Core. The LED Indicator is blue
when the Core is connected to a paired device.
If the last connected device is not available, the Core
waits in the disconnected state for manual connection
of a previously paired device or connection of a new
device. The LED Indicator flashes blue when Bluetooth is
on but the Core is not connected to another device.
www.massfidelity.com 9
Disconnect Bluetooth:
To disable the current Bluetooth connection, turn off
Bluetooth on your source device, or unpair the Core on your
source device.
Alternatively, you can erase the current Bluetooth
connection by pressing the SOURCE key for five seconds.
VIA NFC
If the Core is on, simply tap the unlocked, NFC-enabled phone
or tablet at the top center of the Core to make an instant
connection. The Core switches to Bluetooth mode, pairs with
the device and establishes a connection. This process will also
disconnect the current Bluetooth connection, if any, to the
Core.
If the Core is on standby or off, tap the unlocked,
NFC-enabled phone or tablet at the top center of the Core
to turn the unit on and switch to Bluetooth mode, then
tap again to pair the Core to the device and establish a
connection.
NFC Antenna
If the NFC pairing process is not successful, restart the
device you are pairing with the Core and repeat
the process.
When the source device and the Core are connected via
Bluetooth, select music on the source device to play it
through the Core.
To avoid hearing the source devices sound notifications
(call, email, text, etc.) from the Core, disable them on the
source device. This function and method depends on your
source device.
NOTE: Some NFC-enabled handsets will automatically switch
Bluetooth on if it is not already on.

WIRED ANALOG CONNECTION
The Core includes a stereo analog input so you can connect
a standard 3.5mm stereo audio cable from analog sound
sources such as a CD player, turntable (with a phono
preamp), or PC.
1. Connect a standard stereo 3.5mm audio cable from the
sound source to the AUX input.
2. Press the SOURCE key
until the LED indicator turns white.
3. Select music on the source device to play it through the
Core. For best sound quality, turn the volume on the source
device to mid range and control the output volume using
the VOL+ key
and VOL- key
on the Core.
OPTICAL (DIGITAL) CONNECTION
The Core includes an Optical digital connector so you can
connect to digital sound sources such as a home theatre
system or cable box.
1. Connect an optical audio cable from the sound source
to the OPTICAL input.
2. Press the SOURCE key
until the LED indicator turns
orange.
3. Select music on the source device to play it through
the Core.
VOLUME CONTROL AND MUTING
The Volume controls increases or decreases the volume in 32
steps from muted to 100%
When the unit goes into standby mode, it remembers
the last volume level, and returns to it when it comes out of
standby mode.
If the unit is turned on after being shut down, the last volume
setting used is remembered as long as it is not louder than
step 25 or lower than step 9. If the last volume setting used
was louder than step 25, the level is reset to step 25. If the last
volume setting used was lower than step 9, the level is reset to
step 9.
www.massfidelity.com 11
When changing input sources, entering or leaving mute mode,
and entering or leaving standby mode, the system implements
a soft muting scheme. The time taken to unmute depends on
the current volume level.
To mute the sound, press Mute on the remote control or turn
the volume down to 0 on the Core.
To unmute, press any button on the remote control or any top key
on the unit.
MULTI-ROOM OPERATION
You can wirelessly connect up to eight Core speakers throughout
your home for whole-house audio via the Cores private
dedicated 5.2/5.8 GHz frequency hopping network that provides
uncompressed digital audio distribution above CD quality. This
can include one or more Core speakers that are connected to a
Core Wireless Subwoofer or a wired subwoofer. This does not use
or require a wireless home network.
One Core speaker functions as the transmitter and all other
units receive and play the signal or can be configured as
independent speakers.
Transmitter
Receivers
To use the multi-room functionality simply follow these steps:
1. Make sure all your Core speakers are powered on.
2. Connect your music source (e.g. smartphone) to the Core
that will transmit to the other Core speakers, and play music.
www.massfidelity.com 12
12
3. Press the MULTI-ROOM key
on the Core that is connected
to your music source.
4. On all other Cores, press the SOURCE key
until the LED
indicator flashes purple to indicate Multi-room input.
Music will now play simultaneously on all your Core speakers. To
configure a different Core speaker as the transmitter, simply press
the MULTI-ROOM key
on the chosen unit.
GROUPS
It is possible to create up to four multi-room networks in order
to create separate groups within one household or between
households (to resolve network conflict with a neighbor, for
example). All units ship with Channel 1 selected by default.
To select a different channel for a group, on each Core unit that
you want to be in this separate group:
1. Turn off the Core and disconnect the power adapter.
2. Remove the wireless module from the rear of the Core.
Be careful to not damage or touch the pins.
3. Set the alternative network sliding switch to channel 2, 3 or 4.
Channels

phone. The speakerphone function is normally not enabled from
the factory.
1. To enable the speakerphone function, press and hold both
the POWER key
and SOURCE key
for five seconds. The
LED indicator flashes green to confirm speakerphone function
is enabled.
Note: On certain phones, it may be necessary to un-pair &
re-pair with the Core to enable the speakerphone function.
2. When a call is received on the smartphone, the Core switches
to Speakerphone operation. The music volume fades and the
LED indicator turns green. Press the SOURCE key
to answer
the call or simply answer on your smartphone,
NOTE: So the caller can hear you clearly, ensure the
microphone on the front of the Core faces your general
direction when speaking.
3. To end the call, press the SOURCE key
again or hang
up on your smartphone. The music fades back in and the
LED indicator returns to the previous state.
4. To disable the speakerphone function, press and hold both
