MTU Dialog Software DiaSys 2.70
Introduction
This document explains the installation of MTUs dialogue software DiaSys version
2.70. DiaSys program of version 2.70 is a 32-bit-program for Microsoft Windows 7.
DiaSys program version 2.70 enables you
to modify settings of a MTU electronic engine controller
to record data from a MTU electronic engine controller and
to analyse this data.
DiaSys program can communicate by an optional CAN interface with MTUs MCS
ship monitoring system, MTUs RCS ship control system and ECU-7/-8/-9 controller.
Installation
Installation of DiaSys program is performed in several steps:
1) In case there is already a DiaSys program installed:
Data should be saved prior to any program installation!
2) Unplug the hardware key (dongle) and remove previous versions of DiaSys.
3) Installation will be started automatically by your CD-ROM drive.
4) After installation of DiaSys program, make sure it operates correctly.
5) DiaSys can use one of the following IXXAT CAN interfaces:
- USB-to-CAN II
- USB-to-CAN V2
- USB-to-CAN compact
- tinCAN161
The IXXAT CAN interfaces need the IXXAT VCI drivers.
The installation of the IXXAT VCI drivers is described below.
2.1
Installation for Windows 7
Prerequisites for Installation:
A correct installed Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit).
Local admin rights are needed.
Access to DiaSys installation CD-ROM in local CD-ROM drive.
At least 10 GB of free space on the hard disk, where DiaSys program will be
installed.
In the examples given here X will be used as CD-ROM-drive letter and DiaSys
program will be installed in directory C:\DIASYS.

2.1.1 Reinstall or Update an Earlier DiaSys Program Version
1) For safety reasons data, which is still in use, should be saved first.
2) To remove an earlier version of DiaSys program from computer use
Start - Control Panel Programs and Features - DIASYS.
3) Use Start - Control Panel Programs and Features Sentinal Runtime to
remove the Hardware Key interface. Unplug the hardware key first.
4) In case one or several MTU OLE Servers (MTU Prod. EPROM DiasysServP
ActiveXDLL ) are present, remove from the computer using Start - Control Panel
Programs and Features - MTU Prod. EPROM DiasysServP ActiveXDLL.
2.1.2 Install a New Program Version from Local CD-Drive
Step
1)
What to do?
Start computer. Login as local administrator.
Terminate all programs.
Unplug hardware key and IXXAT CAN interfaces.

Double click in Microsoft Explorer on file
X:\ Setup_DiaSys_V2_70.exe
3)
Select the language for the installation procedure.
German (default), English
4)
Now the directory is asked for, in which to install
DiaSys program. Default directory can be
accepted with Install.
Setup program starts
installation procedure.
5)
Setup is now accomplished.
Restart of the PC is not
necessary.
All components that are
necessary are installed now.
Only the IXXAT VCI driver
have to be installed.

2.1.3 Installation of the IXXAT VCI driver VCI 3.5.2 / VCI 2.20
for the IXXAT interfaces:
1) The installation is described in C:\DIASYS\CAN\IXXAT\can_readme.txt.
Please read this file before you plug in a CAN interface.
2) Start installation as described in C:\DIASYS\CAN\IXXAT\can_readme.txt.
3) Select in 'Start - Control Panel - IXXAT Interfaces the used CAN interface and
press Default HW.
2.1.4 Test of IXXAT CAN interface
Start MinMon32 program in Start All Programs - IXXAT - VCI 2.20
Start MinMon V3 program in Start All Programs - IXXAT - VCI 3.5
Installation of CAN interface has been accomplished when subsequent
initialisations perform without an error.
2.1.5 Access rights
For the folders
C:\DIASYS
C:\EPROM
C:\WINRAR
all users of DiaSys need full control (with Admin rights the user have these access
rights).
Uninstallation of IXXAT VCI driver
The uninstallation is described in C:\DIASYS\CAN\IXXAT\can_readme.txt
