Overview

This document aims to give the successive steps to complete in order to configure the iQsim SIM Server One
(ISSO) solution before starting operations with.
The figure below gives an general overview of the network topology and data flows between the devices:

iQsim SA 2016

SIP protocol is between the VoIP softswitch and the ISSO.

Media (RTP packets) is between the VoIP softswitch (or media gateway) and the iQsim gateways.

iQsim property protocol is used between the ISSO and the gateways.

Introduction

This part of the document aims to give guidelines for Iron SIM Server One (ISSO) and gateways initial setup.
Depending on the network design used for the physical installation of the devices, some additional
configuration steps may have to be completed: several templates of usual installation and setup are given
into chapter 3 for guidelines and follow-up processes.

1.1 ISSO CONFIGURATION

Set new IP
address
settings

Browse to http://192.168.1.10:8000
Enter Login (administrator) and Password (iqsim).
Click on Start button > System Settings > Settings tab: enter the new IP Parameters.
Click on Save & Reboot button.
After the reboot, use the new IP address to connect to the iQsim SIM Server One.

Update the
ISSO licenses

The ISSO licenses are available anytime from iQsim Technical web site.
Visit http://support.iqsim.com.
Go to Product Management menu
Select the ISSO product reference to obtain the license

To update the SIM Management License, open the web interface:

Click on Start button > System Settings > License tab.

Click on Update license button, enter the new the license code.
Click on Save button twice.

To update the Service Controller License, click on Service Controller menu:

Edit Embedded Service Controller parameters.

Click on Update license button, enter the new the license code.
Click on Save button twice.

1.2 GSM GATEWAY CONFIGURATION

M400 gateway

Open a telnet session to the gateway with IP address 192.168.1.1

configuration

Enter Login (administrator) and Password (iqsim).

Type: config /setup
Follow instructions and answer questions regarding your own configuration, until the gateway reboots.
Note:

When you are prompted to enter the IRON Service Controller IP address, enter the IP address of
your ISSO.

Enter Login (administrator) and Password (iqsim).

Complete the form with IP settings and Service Controller IP address (ISSO IP address)
Tick Reboot box then click on Update button.

GSM Device
validation

After gateway setup and reboot, the gateway will be automatically added into the GSM Device menu of the
ISSO web interface, with Grey status 'Waiting for validation'.
To authorize the connection to the ISSO, double click to edit the gateway parameters, enter the Connection
Name (administrator) and the Connection Password (iqsim).
Select the Country where the gateway is installed.
Save.

1.3 SIM RACK CONFIGURATION

Setup

Open a telnet session to the SIM Rack with IP address 192.168.1.100

Enter Login (administrator) and Password (iqsim).
Type: config /setup
Follow instructions, then type: reboot

Add a SIM
Rack

Additional SIM rack must be added into the ISSO database using the ISSO web interface.
Click on SIM Rack menu.
Enter the name of the SIM Rack
Enter the IP address of the SIM Rack and the TCP Port (51503 by default) to use for the iSSO and the
gateways to connect to it.
Save
See Chapter 3 - Typical installation with additional SIM rack for more details.

Introduction

This chapter aims to give usual templates of installation and setup to do when the ISSO is set with a private
IP address.
Examples below are given for 2 gateways, obviously they can be followed when more gateways are used.
When the ISSO is configured with a public IP address, the templates below can be used for gateways
installation and setup only.

2.1 ISSO AND GATEWAYS INTO THE SAME LAN

Principle

2.1.1 PRIVATE IP ADDRESS PLAN

Settings

The ISSO can be set with the default (192.168.1.10) or a different private IP address.
Gateway #1 can be set with the default (192.168.1.1) or a different private IP address.
Any other gateway into the same LAN must be set with a different private IP address.

2.1.2 ADDITIONAL CONFIGURATIONS

Public IP
address in use

This particular configuration supposes advanced configuration of the devices.

First, the public IP address defined into the access router must be set into the ISSO database. To proceed,
open the web interface of the ISSO:

Click on Service Controller menu,

Select the Service Controller and click on Edit button,
Into the field NAT Address, enter the public IP address to use,
Save.

Then, the Service Controller must be restarted. To proceed:

Select the Service Controller and click on Restart button.

The default range of ports in use for RTP must be changed on Gateway #2, following the process below:

The public IP address in use for the GSM devices to connect to the ISSO must be set into the database using
the web interface.
To proceed, open the web interface of the ISSO.

Click on SIM Rack menu.

Edit ISSO settings
Into Primary Hostname/IP field, the private IP address of the ISSO (192.168.1.10) is set.
Into Secondary Hostname/IP field, enter the IP address to use by the gateways to connect to the
ISSO: here it is the public IP address (92.97.26.90).
Into TCP Port Connection fields, enter the TCP port in use by the gateways to connected to the ISSO
(TCP 51503 by default).
Save.

Because the gateways are out of the LAN network of the ISSO, they must be configured to use the public IP
address and proper TCP port to connect to the ISSO, in this case it means the Secondary Hostname/IP and TCP
Port Connection parameters set into SIM Rack menu previously.
To proceed, open the web interface of the ISSO.

3.1 ISSO AND SIM RACK ARE INTO THE SAME LAN
Principle

3.1.1 PRIVATE IP ADDRESSES PLAN

Settings

The ISSO can be set with the default (192.168.1.10) or a different private IP address.
The SIM Rack can be set with the default (192.168.1.100) or a different private IP address.

3.1.2 ADDITIONAL CONFIGURATIONS

To proceed, open the web interface of the ISSO.

Click on SIM Rack menu.

Enter the name of the SIM Rack
Into Primary Hostname/IP field, enter the IP address to use by the ISSO to connect to the SIM Rack:
here it is the private IP address (192.168.1.100).

3.2 ISSO AND SIM RACK ARE INTO DIFFERENT NETWORKS

Principle

3.2.1 PRIVATE IP ADDRESSES PLAN

Settings

The ISSO can be set with the default (192.168.1.10) or a different private IP address.
The SIM Rack can be set with the default (192.168.1.100) or a different private IP address.

Web GUI
configuration

The additional SIM Rack must be added into the ISSO database.
To proceed, open the web interface of the ISSO.

Click on SIM Rack menu.

Enter the name of the SIM Rack
Into Primary Hostname/IP field, enter the IP address to use by the ISSO and the gateways to connect
to the SIM Rack: here it is the public IP address (94.204.153.2).
Into TCP Port Connection fields, enter the TCP port in use by the ISSO and the gateways to connected
to the SIM Rack (TCP 51503 by default).

Because the gateways are out of the network of the SIM Rack, they must be configured to use the public IP
address and proper TCP port to connect to the SIM Rack: this should be the default settinng because Primary
Hostname/IP only is set into SIM Rack menu previously.
To check, open the web interface of the ISSO.
