Thisexaminationisanonline,openbookexaminationbasedontheSafetyCodesActandRegulations,AB506(InspectionandServicingRequirementsfor
InservicePressureEquipment),AB513(PressureEquipmentRepairandAlterationRequirements)andInformationBulletinsissuedbytheAdministrator,
availableonABSAswebsite.
Theexaminationconsistsof25multiplechoicequestions.Thetimeallowedforexaminationis3hourswithina24hourtotaltimeperiod.Youcansignout
fromtheexamandsignbackwithinthe24hourperiod.Ifyouhaveleftthetimetowritetheexaminationtooclosetothe24hourexpirationtime,your
examinationtimemaybereduced.Ifthetimeexpiresbeforeyouhavecompletedallthequestions,theexaminationwillbeclosedandmarked.Whenyouhave
completedandsubmitedyouranswers,ortimeexpires,theexaminationwillbemarkedbythecomputerandyourmarkwillbepostedtoyourprofile.The
officialmarkwillbeconfirmedafterverificationbyABSA.
InspectorrecertificationexaminationwillbescheduledonlinebyABSAandyouwillbecontactedbyemailwiththelogininstructionforthewebsite
testing.Youwillhave30daystologinandactivateyouraccount.Ifyoudonotactivateyouraccountinthe30daysofreceivingthelogininstructions,the
loginwillbecomeinvalidandyouwillhavetoreapplytowritetheexaminationandpaytheexaminationfee.
Onceyoupressthebuttontocreateanaccountyour24hourclockstartsgivingyou3hourstocompletetheexam.
Youmustobtain80%ofthemarkstopasstheexamination.Thereisonlyonerightanswertoaquestion.TheInServiceInspectorRecertification
Examinationisthesameforbothtypesofcertification,(InServiceBoilerandPressureVesselInServicePressureVessel).
Applicantswhodonotmeettherecertificationrequirements,unlesstheyhavereasonsandsupportingdocumentssatisfactorytotheChiefInspectorand
Administrator,mayberequiredtosuccessfullychallengeanInspectorCertificationExamination.
Thefeeforwritingtherecertificationexaminationisincludedintherenewalfee.However,ifanapplicantfailshis/herexamination,theapplicantwillbe
requiredtoresubmitanapplicationtowritetheInspectorCertificationExaminationandpayanexaminationfeeasstatedontherenewalformtotrytheonline
examinationagain.
ReinstatementofCertificate
Applicants, who have their certificate of competency expired over one (1) year, will be required to successfully challenge an Inspector Certification
Examination.Therenewalcertificatewillhaveanexpirydate5yearsfromtheexaminationdate.
