Introduction
Introduction
- Important: This document is intended only for persons with advanced networking
experience.
This document provides the general information needed to configure the Rimage Server (the PC
that is physically connected to the Rimage autoloader) and client applications to process orders
on an existing network. The most common networking scenarios are described in this guide.
The Rimage Messaging System communicates order requests, completion notices and error
messages. The system uses a Messaging Server that forwards the orders to the Imaging and
Production Servers. The Messaging Server runs on the Rimage Server. All client applications and
Production and Imaging Servers must have access to the Messaging Server. The source files
and the Rimage System Folder must be accessible by the clients and the Rimage Server for the
system to work.
110721_H
Prerequisites
Before you configure the Rimage Server, ensure that the following processes have been
performed.
Set up and connect the Rimage autoloader and printer to the Rimage Server.
Set up and connect the Rimage autoloader and printer to the Rimage
Server
Set up your Rimage system and install the Rimage software. For more information, refer to the
Setup and Installation Guide included with your Rimage autoloader or printer.
Note: You have up to 30 days to activate the software. Activating the software provides
Rimage with your system information so we can provide you with software updates, critical
information, and faster service.
Operating System
Rimage software versions 5.3 and later are supported only on
the following Windows operating systems:
Windows 2000 Professional with SP4
Windows XP Professional with SP1 or SP2
Rimage software versions 7.0 and later are supported only on
the following Windows operating systems:
Windows 2000 Professional with SP4
Windows XP Professional with SP1 or SP2

Setup scenarios
This chapter includes example setup scenarios. Some scenarios change the location of the
Rimage System Folder and the location of the client applications. Other examples have multiple
Rimage systems on the same network.
If you are adding a new Rimage Server that has the Rimage Messaging System to a network that
has a Non-Messaging System, Rimage recommends upgrading the Non-Messaging Server to the
latest software version.

File Server.
Use this procedure to create a user account.

- Important! Rimage recommends that the password on the RimageServices user account
be changed for security reasons. See page 23 for instructions on how to change the
password. If the password is changed, you will need to change the password on all
RimageServices user accounts. In this case, the password would need to be changed on
both the File Server and the Rimage Server.

The embedded PC has the TCP/IP protocol enabled for a DHCP Server. If your network does not
have a DHCP Server, the embedded operating system automatically assigns an IP address in the
address range 169.254.0.1 through 169.254.255.254 and a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. An
experienced Network Administrator can change the embedded PC to use a static IP address by
connecting to the Rimage embedded product through a Remote Desktop session.

If you connect to a mounted volume using an IP address or browse to the computer name in
the Connect to server option, you can use a computer name during the installation of the
clients; however, you will need to use the root account to modify the HOSTS file. See page
18 for information about how to modify the HOSTS file. Modifying the HOSTS file only works
when NetInfo is not used to configure the network settings.

The RimageServices user account for Rimage Servers must have access to all applicable file
locations in order to operate properly. If this account does not have proper access, you will have
difficulty producing discs.
This chapter explains how to change the RimageServices account username and password. The
default installation of the Rimage software allows peer-to-peer authentication for clients
submitting jobs to the Rimage Server.
This chapter also contains the information needed to set up and use domain authentication rather
than peer to peer authentication for clients submitting jobs to the Rimage Server.

When the Rimage Software is installed, a default user account is created to make the software
fully functional.
- Important! This default RimageServices account is required for the services to function.
Rimage recommends that you change the password for security purposes. To change the user
account password, you must be logged on as an administrator.
1. Stop all orders and close all Rimage programs.
2. Change the password.
a. Navigate: Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer
Management. The Computer Management window opens.

Note: You must have administrative privileges to set up the Rimage Server.
1. On the Rimage Server, create an account (username and password) that will be used by the
Rimage services for file access.
- Important! Clear the User must change password at next logon checkbox. If this
checkbox is selected, the Rimage services will not start.
2. Add the account to the Local Administrators group.
3. Change local security policies.
a. Navigate: Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local
Policies > User Rights Assignment.
b. Add the account from step 1 to the Log on as batch job and Log on as a service
policy.
Note: Security policy changes do not take effect until the next logon.
4. Set the Messaging Server, Imaging Server, and Bridge Server to use the account.
- Important: The following steps apply only to Messaging Server, Imaging Server, and
Bridge Server. To configure the Production Server to use the account, refer to step 5.
a. Navigate: Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
b. Locate each service.

- Important: In the Services Control Panel, the Rimage Production Server still shows
that it logs in as a Local System. Do not change this setting. If this setting is changed,
it will not work.
Note: When you have completed this procedure, you can discard or save the
ePS.exe shortcut on removable media for secure storage.
Note: If you run the Rimage software installation a second or subsequent time, and
the Repair option is selected, you must repeat steps 4 and 5 when the installation is
complete.
Note: These folders may include folders containing disc image, label, or log files. If you
choose to limit access to these folders, ensure that the Rimage Server using the account
can access them.

Note: You must access the domain as a user that has permission to create domain accounts.
1. Create an account (username and password) that will be dedicated to authenticating
requests to the Rimage Server. This account will be referred to as the domain account.
2. If you have not already done so, you must create accounts for all clients that will submit jobs
to the Rimage Server.
Note: You must have administrative privileges to set up the Rimage Server.
1. Make the Rimage Server a member of the domain.
a. At the Rimage Server, right-click on My Computer.
b. From the dropdown menu, select Properties.
c.
- Important! Clear the User must change password at next logon checkbox. If this
checkbox is selected, the Rimage services will not start.
3. Change local security policies.
a. Navigate: Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local
Policies > User Rights Assignment.
b. Add the dedicated account created above to the Log on as batch job and Log on as a
service policy.
4. Configure the Messaging Server, Imaging Server, and Bridge Server to use the domain
account.
- Important! The following steps apply only to Messaging Server, Imaging Server, and
Bridge Server. To set Production Server to use the domain account, refer to step 5.
a. Navigate: Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
b. Locate the Rimage services listed above.

- Important! You must use the following steps a - g to properly set the Production Server
service to use a domain account. Do not use the Services control panel.
a. Stop the Rimage Production Server.
b. On the Desktop, create a shortcut to ePS.exe.
c.
