Use this tale to teach about perseverance and creativity.
There are many ways to help children stay
engaged with books. Reading aloud to
them has many benefits and allows you to
be creative with voices, sounds, and
acting out scenes! Try asking a few
questions that pertain to the plot of the
book prior to reading. This will help create
a text-to-self connection and activate prior
knowledge! Try new activities! Here are a
few:
Go on a reading picnic. Pack and sandwich
and a nature=inspired book!
Look into programs at the local library. They
are free and catered to your childs age
group.
Create a Book I Have Read board/log and
have children record the books they have
read along with the amount of pages.
Children will take pride in their progress,
and you will have a list that will help
teachers and librarians suggest new titles.
The important thing is to keep kids
reading! Find out what interests them and
find materials that will help them become
life-long readers.
