force that inspired every atst on this new opus, Not only dit energize everyone.on
‘the team, bus it also allowed us to hire some ofthe bert talent inthe world, no matter
where they were from. And together we embrace the same philosophy: creating fine
ar for games
But before we crafta single image, we begin with research, Par of our sist resides in
the quay ofthe rferences we gather. Our shelves are lined with unique books from
‘the masters. We scour the web to find souters that go much deeper than anything
yould se on the fist page of an image search, We visit a wide varey of locations
‘aking hundreds of pictures and pages of notes. We make tough choices based on the
sual pillars we se early in the project. We build precise documents outlining every
posible dei. Then—and only then—do we start to draw.
‘That’ because artis not just graphs. No matter how powerful the game engine is,
if our design is weak, the graphics won't save anything, Its mach more important
fora game to have a clear syle and a strong visual identity. Creativity is empowered

We browsed the books of the master, finding inspiration in the way the Oriental
ints treated realism, We crafed the costumes, gestures, anatomy, skin, and lighting
with Detaile, Meissonie, Buland, Malczewski, Dagnan-Bouveret. We

well cut and tailored, while hands, arms, legs, and faes are rough and have stories to
tell, Clothing isa medium to show a character's position in society, but what's Fun
damental isthe person inside the costume, That atention to detail eased the quality
to an unexpected level, where all the ciy’ inhabitants have a backstory and tuly ft
