ELIGIBILITY
This is an interdisciplinary programme. Faculty
from AICTE recognized engineering colleges,
polytechnics, research scholars, post graduate
students and persons from industries and research
organizations who are interested in the topic and
working in AICTE/ MHRD approved institutions
are eligible to apply.
REGISTRATION FEE
A registration fee of Rs. 7,500/- (Refundable if
NOT selected) will be charged from the
participants. The registration fee includes charges
towards registration kit, course material, lodging
and boarding. The DD for Rs. 7,500/- shall be
drawn in favour of THE DIRECTOR NITC,

Chathamangalam, Code No. 2207 and it has to
be sent along with the registration form. No TA/
DA is admissible to the participants.
HOW TO APPLY?
The registration form can be downloaded from
the NITC website. The filled in registration form
along with the demand draft towards registration
fee should reach the Coordinator on or before
15-05-2015.

Selection will be on first-come-first-served basis.
The number of participants is limited to 50. The
selected participants will be intimated through email by 16-05-2015. All further communications
will be through e-mail only.

INTRODUCTION
This Programme on Research Methodology for
Science, Engineering and Management is primarily
targeted at Research Scholars either pursuing or
planning to do research in the area of science,
engineering and management. The orientation of
the Programme is towards applied, computational
and field data based research. This Programme will
be helpful for the institutions offering courses in
research methodology. This Programme will be the
platform for academicians and researchers in
science, engineering and management for
networking with specialists and renowned
researchers.
OBJECTIVES
The key objective of the program is to enable the
participants to define a research problem and
develop a suitable methodology for addressing the
problem. The participants will also learn about the
use of various data analysis methods in research.
The topics include how to design the study, how to
collect data for research, how to analyze and report
research data. The primary focus will be on survey
research, experimental research and field data based
research.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Research in the field of science, engineering and
management follows certain process such as
formation of the topic, research design, hypothesis
formulation, data collection, data analysis, testing
and revision of hypothesis. The outcomes of this

ABOUT NITC
(www.nitc.ac.in)
NITC was set up in 1961 as Calicut Regional
Engineering College (CREC). The Ministry of
Human Resource Development (MHED),
Government of India, accorded Deemed University
status under the name National Institute of
Technology Calicut (NITC) to CREC in June 2002
granting it academic and administrative autonomy.
NITC has ten departments, nine centers and three
schools. It offers nine undergraduate programs and
twenty five post graduate programs apart from the
Ph.D. programs. The institute has good
infrastructure in computing, information
technology, laboratories and central library
including digital library. All the departments have
separate computing facility in addition to the central
facility.
NITC is located about 22 kilometers north-east of
Calicut City. Calicut, also known as Kozhikode, is
known as the city of spices. Kozhikode beach,
Kappad beach where Vasco De Gama landed first,
Kadalundy bird sanctuary, Tusharagiri Waterfalls,
Pazhassiraja Museum, Tali Temple and Kuttichira
Masjid are some of the local attractions.
