writes about both the simplicity and longtime complexity of life in their most
raw forms, inspired by
decades of both his own
experiences and those
close to him.
Johnnys accomplishments include having success as a
solo artist back in 2005 after recording and independently
co-producing his first solo folk-roots album Prairie Roots
Grow Deep. This album, having a real Canadiana feel, garnered him a nomination for Roots Album of the Year at
the 2006 BC Country Music Association Awards.
He is excited to release his second solo album produced
by Tom McKillip, a nine time BCCMA Producer of the
Year. JPJs new music is proudly ranch-rock, folk and
country roots, with songs that will captivate and engage
any audience with stories that depict a journey through
what Johnny calls, This thing called life.
Johnny will be joined by Hans Javan on fiddle and mandolin, Hal Rezansoff on standup bass and Jason Thomas
on guitar and banjo on Saturday, January 14 at the Silverton Memorial Hall. Doors open at 7 pm with the show
starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 at the door.

We havent had this much fun on New Years Eve since

that time we convinced our uncle that $50/hr was the
going rate for NYE babysitters.

Jamaican Bobsled Team and skiing under the lights all

The Slocan Valley Community Legacy Society (SVCLS)

is ready for a busy 2017. This year the society will be distributing $12,000 from the Slocan Valley Legacy Fund,
with a maximum of $4000 per group. The Slocan Valley
Legacy Fund provides grants for qualified Slocan Valley
projects that are creative, value the diversity of our valley, translate problems into solutions, enrich interconnectedness and protect our natural environment. Grant

To help groups prepare a successful application the
SVCLS is hosting two workshops for charities and nonprofits in the Slocan Valley. Getting Grants by Building

and how registered charities can increase their capacity
to undertake great projects by partnering with nonprofits.
Workshop dates are: Monday, January 16, 7 to 9 pm at
Knox Hall in New Denver and Monday, January 23, 7 to
9 pm at the Threads Guild Hall, 7112 Perrys Back Road.

1. The contractor shall be responsible for posting necessary Worksafe information
in conjunction with the project manager.
2. Bids may not be awarded to the lowest bidder, taking into consideration quality

damages incurred by the contractor or during the work. Contractors shall provide
certification that they have satisfactory liability insurance and WCB coverage for
any employee on the job site.
4. The contractor shall be responsible for the removal and proper disposal of all
materials to be discarded, leaving a clean job site.
5. The contractor is responsible for all fees and permits, if applicable, in conjunction with the Villages project manager.
6. A security of 15% will be kept by the Village until the project has been completed to the satisfaction of the project manager.
7. Contractor shall demolish structures to the satisfaction of the project manager.
8. The contractor shall make every effort to retain original plasterwork and form
and character aspects of the building where viable and cost-effective to do so.
9. Proposal submitted should identify a percentage estimate for contingencies.
TIMELINES: Work must be complete by May 30th 2017.
SITE VISIT/ INQUIRIES: A mandatory site visit must be scheduled with the project
manager. Please contact the Village office to arrange this.
NOTE: Architectural specifications and floorplans are available upon request.
EVALUATION:
The Village of Kaslo reserves the right to reject any or all RFPs or to accept the
response deemed most favourable in the interests of the Village. The lowest or

Influenza can be particularly severe for some people
such as older adults, people with chronic health conditions and babies. If your symptoms are getting worse or
you are not recovering, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 for
medical advice. This free service will connect you with
a healthcare professional who can provide advice about
how to manage your health concerns or those of your
loved ones. Alternatively, you may choose to call or visit
your doctor or go to a walk-in clinic.
If your symptoms become severe, go to the emergency
department of the nearest healthcare facility right away.
