Definition of Law: Prescribe

Law is defined as (1) a binding custom or rule prescribed by a controlling authority and recognized as obligatory, (2) the whole body of such customs and rules enforced through the courts, and (3) the means of redressing wrongs through litigation and the agencies that enforce established law such as police. Law can also refer to advisable or obligatory rules of conduct like laws of self-preservation.
