Skeletal System Vanitys Part

This document summarizes several common skeletal system diseases including arthritis, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, scoliosis, clubfoot, and provides treatments. It notes that arthritis causes joint inflammation and has forms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoporosis causes bones to become less dense and more brittle. Osteomalacia is a softening of bones from prolonged vitamin D deficiency. Scoliosis causes an abnormal spine curve. Clubfoot results in inward and downward pointing feet. Skeletal System Diseases

Arthritis
- is a joint disorder featuring inflammation.

- Joint - is an area of the body where two different bones meet.

- functions to move the body parts connected by its bones

Two Common Forms

a. Osteoarthritis (OA)
b. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

Treatments:
-anti-inflammatory medications and painkillers
- Lose Weight
- Use Hot and Cold Therapy
- Get a Massage
- Herbal Supplement
Osteoporosis
- a condition in which your bones break down faster than
they regrow. This causes them to become less dense,
more porous, and more brittle. This weakens your bones
and can lead to more fractures and breaks.

Treatments:

No cure is available. The goal of treatment is to protect and

strengthen your bones. Treatment usually includes a
combination of medications and lifestyle changes to help
slow the rate of bone reabsorption by the body.
Osteomalacia
- is a disease that leads to the softening and weakening of
the bone tissue in the human body. This disease, also
called rickets, is typically caused by prolonged vitamin D
deficiency and is very common in children in certain
countries of the world.

Treatments:

- If osteomalacia is detected early, treatment can be as

simple as taking oral supplements of vitamin D, calcium,
or phosphate.
- In rare cases, you can take vitamin D as an injection through your
skin or intravenously through a vein in your arm.
- spend some time outdoors in sunlight for your body to
make sufficient vitamin D within your skin.
Scoliosis
- is a disorder that causes an abnormal curve of the spine, or
backbone

Treatments:

- back braces
- Surgery
Clubfoot
- is a birth defect resulting one or both feet pointing inward and downward.

Treatments:

- Ponseti method - uses gentle stretching and casting to gradually correct the deformity.
- Bracing
- Surgical method
