Guiding Questions Objectives (know/understand/do/value)


- What is a synonym? - The student will be able to understand
- What is an antonym? synonyms and antonyms.
- What are different words that have - The student will be able to identify and

Time Instructional Procedures and Strategies
Beginning the Lesson:
- Students will be asked for a recitation about their previous homework on knowing what
5mins synonyms and antonyms are.
- Pass The Message: Students will be grouped by rows and the students on both ends will be
assigned with different tasks. One student on the end will be given a piece of paper with a word
written on it and he/she will whisper the word to the person next to him/her until they reach the
last person on the row. The last person on the row will write on the board the synonym or antonym
of the word depending on what the teacher will instruct.

Developing the Lesson


- Explain and give examples: Synonyms are words that have the same or
nearly the same meaning with another, written in a different word. For
12min example, fast quick, big large.
s - Antonyms are words that are the opposite meaning of another. For
example, the antonym for the word antonym is synonym, big small,
fast slow.
- (Activity) Game Time: The teacher will distribute shuffled cards to each
student with different words. One must look for the person who has the
same (synonym) meaning of the word they have in their card and will
be asked to write a sentence using and underlining the given word.
Vice versa for antonyms.
- Check the words that were written on the board by the students and

ask and confirm the students if what they wrote is right.

3mins Closing the Lesson


- Homework: The teacher will write words on the board and the students
will have to search/look for and write the synonyms and antonyms of
the given words to be passed for the next meeting.
Formative Assessment Differentiation
Check-up questions. - Give more examples and elaborate
Exit Pass: Students will be asked to write better for students who are slow to
one-word corresponding with the catch up (printed examples). As
synonym and antonym of the word on a other students can give examples of
piece of paper and drop it in the box as synonyms and antonyms easily, try
they leave. to keep asking and encourage the
other students who are having a
hard time understanding by using
simpler words in explaining. one
on one after class sessions.

Reflection:
It was fun doing and re-enacting this lesson plan especially with the game. I was a bit
short on time but I managed not to cut out activities. I want to try out the
differentiation box in the near future and I hope it will work out well.
