Tutorial Notes

Tutorial 1
Warm Up Games
Keepers Of
Students are divided into two groups. They are then asked to
send half the team to one square and
the other to one square.
The aim of the game is to keep the ball
of the opposition and to count as
many consecutive passes can be
achieved in one minute.

Tag
Teams stay the same as mentioned above. The aim of this
activity is to tag the opposition with the
ball. Students must pass the ball between
team mates and are not allowed to run
with the ball.
Stationary Passing
Working in pairs students will pass the ball between each other.
Students begin facing the same way they will then complete 20
passes. After this completed the students will make 20 passes
facing the other direction.
KTPs Passing
- Elbow high
- Fingers spread
- Point at the target after passing

Passing While Jogging


Working with the same partners, students
will practicing jogging forward
while passing. Students must make sure
to pass backwards and reach for the ball
when catching.

Cone Passing
Working in groups of 4. Students will
run forward and pass backwards to the
player next to them.
They must make sure to point at the
target and run straight.
Group Passing
Students will work in groups of 5.
Starting behind their individual
cone they will run forward and
pass along the line. They need to
focus on passing backwards.
When the ball reaches the last
player they will pop the ball up to
their classmate running forward.
This process will be repeated.

Looping
Player 1 passes to player
2 (step 1), this player then
passes to player 3 (step
2). Player 2 then runs
behind player 3 and
receives the pass back
(step 3). Player 3 then
passes to the last player.

Touch Dump Step


Working in groups of 3, students will
nominate one defender and two
attackers. Students will then practice
the routine of initiating the touch then
placing the ball on the ground and
stepping over it. This process is then repeated down the field
with the defender being rotated after a few run throughs.
Group Touch Dump Step
Working in groups of 6, nominate 2 defenders. These two
defenders stand opposite the 4 attackers. The ball carrier then
runs forward and initiates the touch. They then place the ball
and step over it. Next arrival then picks up the ball and passes
to a player running onto it. They then run into the other
defender. This process is repeated up the field.

Set of 6 Modified Game


Emphasis of the game is to
complete a set of 6 touches. The
students need to understand how
to gain field position using a
quick recycling of the ball.

10 v 10 Game of Touch
Compete in a game of touch football with the full set of rules
being applied

Tutorial 2

4 Corners Passing Drill


Students will run in a clockwise
direction, receive a pass from a player in the
middle then pass in backwards to the player
who passed it too them. After the
players in the middle have worked for 1
minute, rotate the outside
players in.

Passing KTPs

- Point at the target after passing

- High elbow

- Two hands on the ball Catching

KTP for catching


- Call for the ball
- Give the passer a target
- Eyes up
- Running straight

Lateral Passing with a realignment focus


In groups of four, students run straight with the ball starting on
the end player. They then pass it through the hands to the last
player. The last player accelerates and passes it back through
their team mates hands.
Lateral Passing

In groups of five. Students will


pass the ball along the line then
offload to the next group.

Catching
- Watch the ball

Looping
Players start on the
cones in groups of 4.
Player 1 passes to
player 2 (step 1),

back (step 3). Player
3 then passes to the last player.

Switching

Players start on the


cones in groups of
4.
Player 1 takes the
ball forward then
passes to player
two (step 1). Player
two takes the ball
forward the moves
at an angle towards
the team mate to their right. Player 3 then switches positions
with player two and receives the pass while doing so.
Cut Pass
Player 1 takes the ball forward then passes to player 2. Player 2
then passes to player 4 and skips out player 3.
Modified Game 7 v 4
This game involves
unlimited touches
but has an
emphasis on attack
as there is a
mismatch in the
amount of attackers
to defenders.
Students are
encouraged to attack the space in the defensive line.

Tutorial 3
Students were allocated groups prior to the lesson. The teams
were then distributed bibs and participated in a round robin
tournament. The team that was not participating had to referee
the game and provide a scorer, two touch judges and two
game referees.
