First Day of Teaching

Couse: EPC-2903
Course Teacher: Antoinette Wiseman
Done By: Ayesha Hassan
My first day of teaching was on the 6th of March 2017. I was in Al

Resalah American international school in grade KG2 B. It was the day that

Miss Muna is supposed to come and observe me so she can assess and

evaluate me. I prepared my lesson plan, materials that I need for teaching.

Before deciding on the activities, I asked my teacher if they were appropriate

and she agreed. I taught the letter D

On the day of my teaching, I came in the morning, and I prepared the

resources on the tables so I would be sure that I have everything in place

and that when students transition they wont be noisy and start working

immediately. I also prepared everything I needed for circle time, and I

checked that the Smartboard is working, so I wont get disturbed while

teaching the students.

After Miss Muna had come into the classroom, I started teaching. My

lesson was very smooth, and the children were acting very positively with

me. I created a reward system for groups which was the marble reward

system, and the students liked it so much. The groups were trying so hard to

get marbles.

My classroom management was very positive, and the students were

very engaged, however during the circle time I forget at the beginning to

teach students how to write the letter, but I remembered before I sent them

to the tables which were fine as long as I taught it to the students.

Something I needed to work on is that I took too long time on the circle time.

I needed to make things go faster, but I wasnt checking the time.

After I had finished teaching, I went to meet Miss Muna. She gave me

some feedback. She told me that I had good classroom management, but

however, I need to work on my time management. She told me also that my

activities were differentiated and suitable for the student's levels but one

activity I did with paper, and she told me that I needed to use cardboard

paper instead of normal paper, so it wont cut.

My first teaching experience with the students was positive, and I hope

I would improve myself in the next days.
