Classroom Math Observation Insights

The observer, Debbie, observed a math lesson in Room 19 on rounding numbers. During the lesson, the teacher used a video and the students' math books to model rounding numbers from 37 to 40. The students were able to explain when to round up or down and demonstrated their understanding by writing answers on their individual whiteboards. The teacher checked for understanding by having students round larger numbers into the hundreds and recapped prior knowledge on place value. The next steps were to highlight the math strand overview in the students' books and update individual data now that assessments were completed.
