Directions for mobile web testing:
All testing for mobile websites and applications are to be done on the
following devices:
o iOS: iPhone 6 with iOS 9+
o Android: Samsung Galaxy 6 with Android 6+
o Emulators can be used for mobile website reviews, but cannot be used for
mobile application reviews.
If any parameter or criteria for analysis is present, provide an x to indicate
the brands adherence unless other inputs are necessary such as a number,
url, app name, etc.
If any parameter or criteria for analysis that should be present and is not,
leave the related cell blank.
If any parameter or criteria for analysis is not relevant for the brands mobile
assets, please provide an N/A (as in not applicable) into the field.
1. Mobile Assets
a. Does the brand have a mobile website? Input the URL into the
spreadsheet.
b. Does the brand have a flagship consumer mobile application? Input
the name into the spreadsheet.
c. Clarify which platforms it supports.
d. NOTE: Do not include campaign apps, social sharing or gaming apps
for the brand.
2. Google Search Result Ranking
a. What is their organic ranking when searching for the brand name on
mobile? Input result into the spreadsheet.
b. What is their organic ranking when search for the category on mobile?
Input result into the spreadsheet.
c. Does the mobile search result link to a mobile optimized experience?
Input result into the spreadsheet.
3. Mobile Application Search Results: Results to be provided across Apple App
Store and Google Play.
a. What is the app store search result ranking when searching for the
brand name on both Apples App store and Google Play? Input result
into the spreadsheet.
b. What is the applications user review ranking on both Apples App
store and Google Play? Input result into the spreadsheet.
4. Mobile Friendliness and Speed Analysis:
a. Google Score:
i. Go to https://testmysite.withgoogle.com
ii. Enter the brands url
iii. Input score into the spreadsheet for:
1. Mobile Speed
2. Mobile Friendliness
b. Webpagetest.org
i. Go to https://www.webpagetest.org/
ii. Enter the brands url
iii. Determine a local testing location
iv. Click Advanced Settings
v. Update connection to Mobile LTE
vi. Click on Chrome in the nav
vii. Click Emulate Mobile Browser
viii. Select iPhone 6 from the drop down
ix. Click run test
x. Enter First view load time in seconds into the spreadsheet.
5. Determine Mobile Digital Strategy: Input into the spreadsheet which
category the mobile experience applies to based on the below. You can select
more than one category if applicable.
a. Ecommerce: Does the mobile experience sell a product or service?
b. Lead Generation: Does the mobile experience collect potential lead
information
c. Content Publisher: Does the mobile experience have high engagement
features such as frequently updated content for high level visitation?
d. Online Information: Does the mobile experience help customers find
information?
e. Branding: Does the mobile experience provide brand awareness,
engagement, and offer a loyalty experience?
6. Usability audit
a. Conduct a review of the mobile experience and input all of the
applicable criteria for the brand into the spreadsheet.
7. Content Analysis
a. Based on your review, determine the purpose of the mobile
experience content based on the below. You can select more than one
category if applicable.
i. Persuade: Simple language, have opinions, sell benefits
ii. Teach: Give answers, save or do something new
iii. Captivate: Tell a story, user real people or case studies
