COURSE DESCRIPTION, CONTENT AND TIME LINE


This course United States history from European influence up through current events and includes
student activities such as worksheets, essays, text analysis, discussions, creative projects, quizzes
and exams. We will cover the following content in this course:

Fall Spring

Early Civilizations WWI


Exploration and Colonization Great Depression
Revolution and New Nation WWII
Westward Expansion Post-War US
Civil War and Gilded Age Cold War
Progressives Social Reforms
Contemporary US
Required Material
You are required to have the following materials with you each day:

A Three-ring binder or notebook with paper & a section for history


Pen or pencil

FOLLOW PROCEDURES

Politeness and Respect


Courtesy and respect are a high priority in this classroom. Be respectful to the teacher and other
students by not interrupting when they are speaking. Raise your hand and wait to be called upon to
speak and show others respect even when their opinion differs from your own. Bullying or
disrespectful actions of any kind will not be tolerated.

PROCEDURES
HOW WE OPERATE
1. Keep cell phones (on silent!) and locked in the provided lockers for the duration of the class.

You will receive a referral if these items can be seen/ heard or become a distraction.

2. Begin bellwork as soon as you enter class.

3. Food and drink are not permitted in the classroom with the exception of water with a sealable cap

4. Personal grooming is done outside the classroom.

5. The teacher, NOT the bell, dismisses the class.

6. If you need to use the restroom ask for permission. SIGN OUT when you leave AND IN when you
return. Take the pass. If restroom breaks become excessive we will discuss an individual plan for
you.

7. Place backpacks under the desk of on the hook during class time for safety reasons.

Your choices in class will have consequences which can be negative or positive. Choose wisely.

Tardy/Attendance policy
Students are expected to be in their seats working on bellwork when the bell sounds. Just being
present in class does not constitute being on time. 10 or more absences will result in a No Grade.

Assignment headings should include the following and be included on every assignment:

Late Work/Make up work


Late work will only be accepted in the case of an excused absence. Make up work will be permitted
for any excused absence. Students have one week to submit make up work.

Homework
Homework may be assigned from time to time and is expected to be turned in on the assigned date

Grading Policy
Percentage scale Semester scale
100-90= A Quarter 1= 40%

89-80= B Quarter 2= 40%

79-70= C Final Exam= 20%

69-60= D

59 or below= F
Criteria for Arriving at Your Grade
Your quarter, semester, and final grades will be computed as follows:

Classwork: 40% Bellwork: 10%

Tests & quizzes: 35% Homework: 15%

***Academic dishonesty such as copying another students work will result in an automatic
F on the assignment. Students found to be cheating may also face additional disciplinary actions.
