Wire Mode capability is possible only on Security Gateway running R6x and above on SecurePlatform OS, Gaia OS or IPSO OS.

Configuration of Wire Mode is performed in two places:

1. IPSec VPN Community properties

2. Security Gateway properties

Procedure:

(I) Enable Wire Mode in IPSec VPN Community:

1. In SmartDashboard, go to "IPSec VPN" tab - click on "Communities".

2. Select the Community to be configured, and click "Edit".

3. Open the "Advanced Settings".

4. Click on "Wire Mode".

5. Check the box "Allow uninspected encrypted traffic between Wire mode interfaces of the Community's members".

6. Check the box "Wire Mode routing" to allow members to route uninspected, encrypted traffic in VPN routing configurations.

7. Click on OK to apply the settings and close the IPSec VPN Community properties.

(II) Enable Wire Mode on a specific Security Gateway:

1. In SmartDashboard, go to "Manage" menu - click on "Network Objects...". The Network Objects screen appears.

2. Select the Security Gateway to be configured, and click "Edit...".

3. Open the "VPN" - click on "VPN Advanced".

4. Check the box "Support Wire mode".

5. Click on OK.

6. Install the policy on this Security Gateway.
