EC Lab Manual

This document summarizes two experiments in basic electronics: 1) Studying series and parallel resistive circuits to verify Ohm's law and voltage/current divider rules. Different resistor values were used to measure voltages and currents. 2) Measuring Lissajous patterns between two signals to calculate the capacitor value required for a 600 phase shift when connected in series with a 10k resistor. The circuit was set up and the CRO was used to observe inputs/outputs in XY mode to calculate the phase angle.

1. STUDY OF SERIES AND PARALLEL RESISTIVE CIRCUITS

AIM:

To verify:

(i) Ohms law in series and parallel resistive network.

(ii) Voltage divider rule in series circuits.
(iii)Current divider rule in parallel circuits.

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

Ohms law: V = I * R

Use different values of Resistor and measure current

2. PHASE MEASUREMENT (LISSAJOUS PATTERN)

AIM:

(i) To study Lissajous pattern of two signals.

(ii) Calculate the value of capacitor required to produce a 600 phase shift
when connected in series with 10k resistor.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

PROCEDURE:

Set up the circuit as shown in figure. Select an input sine waveform from function
generator and observe the input on channel X and output on channel Y. Keep the
CRO in XY mode. Calculate the phase angle using the expression Sin-1(Y1/Y2).

DESIGN:

Let R=10K =600
