VARIABLES Are Symbols or Letters That May Take One or More Than One Value

Variables can take different values and represent real numbers, constants have fixed values, a term is a variable, constant, or their product and quotient, terms have numerical and literal coefficients where the numerical is the constant factor and literal is the variable, an algebraic expression uses variables and constants with basic math operations, and exponents show how many times a base is used as a factor.

VARIABLES are symbols or

letters that may take

one or more than one
value. These variables
may represent elements
of the set of real
numbers.
CONSTANTS are numbers
that have fixed values.

A TERM is a constant, a
variable, or a product
or a quotient of
constants and
variables. Terms are
separated by the
symbols + and -. A term
has two parts, namely,
NUMERICAL
COEFFICIENT and
LITERAL COEFFICIENT.
The NUMERICAL
COEFFICIENT is the
constant factor of the
term, while the
LITERAL COEFFICIENT
is the variable factor of
the term.
An ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION
is a variable, a
constant, or a
combination of both
which may be related
by any of the four
fundamental
operations.

An EXPONENT tells how

many times the base is
used as a factor.
SPECIAL PRODUCTS are
special forms of algebraic
expressions whose products
are readily seen.
