07 - Castingdesign - Backdraft

This document discusses back draft and zero draft conditions that can occur when designing injection molded parts. It defines back draft and zero draft, and describes how they can occur unintentionally through mistakes in the design process or intentionally through design requirements. Examples are provided to illustrate properly drafted faces versus back draft conditions. Guidelines are given to check for and avoid back draft and zero draft conditions while modeling parts to ensure easy part removal from molds.
