Approach to a lab result: Anemia

- Find baseline
- Find condition that caused his anemia
- Find other conditions:
a) Iron panel
b) Thalassemia screen
c) Hemolytic screen (LDH, haptoglobin, bilirubin, reticulocytes, DCT)
d) Myeloma panel
e) B12 Folate TFT

Bisphosphonates: Give 4-6 weeks after a fall!

For Fe2+ deficiency anemia, its hard to interpret thal screen
Doing DCT post transfusion will confound the result!
Levofloxacin for non liver infection (raised CRP), ciprofloxacin for HbS (raised CRP and raised LFTs)
Cephalosporins -> drug induced ITP
