Using English Lesson Planner

Please follow these steps to create your lesson plans during the ITI Istanbul CELTA course.

Start a new plan

1. Click the Create Plan or New Plan button.
2. Enter a name for your plan, e.g. Teaching Practice 1 and then enter the level of your students e.g. Intermediate.
3. Write a short description of your lesson as you understand it.
4. Select Yes for Will this lesson be observed? Then click the Start Planning button.
5. On the next page, you can choose a theme to give some colour to your plan (this is optional and it doesnt
matter which you choose). You can change this later by clicking on the image at the top of the screen.
6. The following page lets you add a template to your plan (this relates to the lesson shapes session we did in
class). Click the Skip button until you feel comfortable with the various lesson shapes.
7. You should then be brought to the main planning page and your lesson is ready to edit. Orange buttons found
around the page will indicate what you could do next. Starting with your Lesson Aims, as explained below.

1. Click the Add new button in the Materials section on the left. This will open the Add materials screen. Here you
should add the materials youll be using in your lesson, including the course book with page numbers, etc. If you
have designed or adapted your own materials, you can upload them and theyll be available for you to use after
the course is finished.

Add your lesson aims

1. Click the Add an aim button in the Main aims section on the left. This will open the Aim builder screen. If your
tutor has given you your aims already, you can type them into the text box directly and click Add to plan. If you
have to write your own aims, you can also use the buttons below to help you through the process. Repeat this
process for each of your main and subsidiary aims.

Add your lesson stages
