Vision
Our main objective is to improve quality of life of the community especially the vulnerable groups.
Mission
Empowering communities through information, education & Communication (IEC), behavior change
communication (BCC) and skill enhancement, which will enable them to organize themselves, gain self
respect, justice, lead a value based life and support local initiative at the community level and in so
doing extend and develop co-operative and collaborative attitude practices in the community.
Brief History
The organization SUTRA may be traced to a meeting between Late. Mr. B. S. Rawat, a resident of
lucknow and Dr. K. V. Singh, chief Co-ordinator of the organization, during their college education. In
the meeting Mr. Rawat briefly told the condition of the vulnerable groups of the society and the
initiatives taken in the district by government and non-government organization for their welfare and
requested the chief co-ordinator to arrange a meeting with the professional in the social sector, so that
some thing can be done for their welfare.
A meeting of like-minded peopleworking in the voluntary organizations and in deptt. of Social Work,
Lucknow University was called. In this meeting the effort made by the government and non-government
organization ever since independence for the weaker sections were deliberated and analyzed.
It was concluded that such effort had some positive outcome but still a lot is needed to be done. With the
view to uplift peopleand to provide them, this society was established in year 2005 with a name Saurya
Sewa Sansthan. Later in the year 2007 SUTRA (Social Upliftment Through Research & Action). Since
inception, the Organization is working for the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society i.e
Scheduled Castes, scheduled Tribes, Women, Children, Elderly and Disabled.

Working Area
The organization is working in the rural areas of Lucknow district, as well as in the rurl and tribal block
of the Balrampur, behraich, Saravasti and Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh.

Strategy
The organization is using a 5 point strategy for ensuring quality of life to the community which is
economically productive, ecologically sustainable and socialy harmonious. The component of the
strategy are as follows-

Revenue Source
The organization has a professional staff of 9 members who are also the members of the executive
committee, besides ten part time consultants. Out of these two staff members have received training at
National Institute of Public Co-opration & Child Develoment (NIPCCD), and three member of the staff
hold Doctoral Degree in social Work, one is L.L.M, one is M.B.A and one member of the staff hold a
master degree in women studies. Further, 9 member of the staff have attended various national and
international workshops and training programmes on different social work related issue. It is a matter of
grate significance that the team members work in team sprit and are skilled, committed and experienced
in working at village level.
