First Day of Teaching

Couse: EPC-3403
Course Teacher: Antoinette Wiseman
Done By: Ayesha Hassan
My first day of teaching was on the 18th of October 2017. I was in AlQarayen

kindergarten in grade kg2 3. I was told that Miss Aisha will come to observe me on this day so I

prepared my lesson which was the letter P to start with it in the morning. I prepared my lesson

plan, materials that I need for teaching. Before deciding on the activities, I wanted to ask my

teacher about the activities but she was not at school for maybe a week because she was tired so I

talked with my Arabic teacher and she helped me a lot with deciding on the materials and about

what to do with the students.

When we went to school and it was time for teaching, I was prepared but then Miss Muna

said that Miss Aisha will not be able to come and observe me so I told her that it would be fine if

she comes tomorrow. So I stayed with the students and I revised with them the sounds that they

took in the days before and that was an opportunity for me so I can practice more on teaching

with the students.

On the next day Miss Aisha came and I taught the students the letter P. I wasnt so

satisfied with how I taught them and what I did because I know that I can perform better than I

did. But on that day I wasnt feeling well and that affected my performance. I had a smooth

lesson but the students where a little bit noisy on that day. I reminded them about the reward that

I said I would give them by the end of the week if they got five stars during a week. My

transition wasnt so smooth because children are not used to transitioning in this way. But overall

I had positive classroom. I did activities that managed the time well. Children didnt take too

long to work on activities which was perfect for me. They liked the activities and I had them

differentiated to suit the level of the students.

While working in the centers I kept reminding the students that we have 10 minutes left,

or five minutes so they would be prepared to clean up and then move on to the circle. After

finishing the activities time children moved back to the circle and we did the closing. Children

responded very positively with me during the closing and after the closing we sang some songs

before we went to the playground.

After I had finished teaching, I went to meet Miss Aisha. She gave me some feedback

and the feedback benefited me so I would work on my weaknesses during next teaching sessions

with the students.

My teaching experience with the students was positive, and I hope I would improve

myself in the next days and I will try to work as hard as I can.
