Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for recruitment of various Teaching
Positions as per the existing Tamil Nadu Government 200 point reservation norms.
i. The prescribed application along with instructions and eligibility conditions can be had from the
Registrar, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore 641 046 in person on requisition by paying Rs.200/- or by post
with a Demand Draft / Challan for Rs.250/- drawn in favour of the Registrar, Bharathiar University,
Coimbatore 641 046. Applications can be had from 15.09.2010 on wards.
ii. Application, instructions to the candidates and eligibility conditions can also be downloaded from
the University Website : www.b-u.ac.in from 15.09.2010 on wards. The candidates who have downloaded
the application from the University Website are requested to pay Rs.200/- in the form of Demand
Draft/Challan towards cost of application along with the Registration Fee of Rs.500/-.
iii. The University reserves the right to fill up or not any of the vacancies advertised.
The last date for receipt of filled in application along with Registration Fee of
Rs.500/- is 06.10.2010.
1.APPLICATION

2. Filled in application together with Registration fee of Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for SC/ST
candidates on production of Xerox copy of the Community Certificate) in the form of a
Demand Draft payable at Coimbatore drawn in favour of the Registrar, Bharathiar
University, Coimbatore should be sent on or before 06.10.2010.
3. Candidates are requested to fill the application in all respects.
4. Eight copies of application shall be submitted to the Registrar, Bharathiar University,
Coimbatore – 641 046.
2. RESERVATION
Reservation is made in accordance with 200 point roster adhering to the relevant G.Os. treating
each Department as a separate Unit.
“GT- denotes “General Turn” (Open Competition), SC-Denotes “Scheduled Castes”, A-denotes
“Arunthathiars, W-denotes “Women Candidates”, DW-means “Destitute Widows”, MBC-
denotes Most Backward Class, DNC-Denotified Communities, BC-Backward Classes.
The Posts which are indicated as convered and re-allotted are also Regular Positions.
If no qualified Arunthathiyars are available to fill up the preferential seats, the other
candidates in the Scheduled Castes will be considered and vice versa.
“Destitute Widow” means a widow whose minimum scale of pay does not exceed
Rs.4,000/- and to the posts with Grade Pay which does not exceed Rs.2,400/- and family
pension or other receipts including income from private practice in the case of professionals.
Such candidates should produce a Certificate from R.D.O. or the Assistant Collector or the
Sub-Collector concerned in the format prescribed. Destitute Widow shall not include a
divorcee.
“Destitute Widow” shall include a candidate born outside the State of Tamil Nadu and
became a widow after her marriage to a person belonging to the State or Tamil Nadu and
residing permanently in the State of Tamil Nadu and shall also include a candidate born in
the State of Tamil Nadu and becake a widow after her marriage to a person belonging to
other State and settled permanently in the State of Tamil Nadu, but shall not include a
candidate belonging to other State not covered under the abose said categories.
If no qualified candidates are available in the category of Destitute Widow, the other
Women candidates may be considered on merit basis.
If no qualified and suitable women candidates are available for selection against the
vacancies reserved for them, there vacancies may be filled by male candidates belonging to
the respective communal categories.
3. SCALE FO PAY:
4. VIDEO CONFERENCING : The candidates those who are applying from abroad may
attend the interview through Video Conferencing on remitting Rs.5,000/- towards
arrangements for Video Conferencing. The amount may be paid in the form of Demand
Draft drawn in favour of the Registrar on receiving the interview card.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :
For Management and Computer Applications UGC/AICTE Norms ;
For Physical Education UGC/ NCTE norms and for all the other
departments UGC norms.
iii. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and
technology – mediated teaching learning process.
iv. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based
Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in this Regulation as per the
enclosure.
OR
B. An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who
has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned / allied / relevant
discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.
5.1.2.FOR THE POST OF ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
iv. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following shall
constitute as essential ;
1. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent
grade in a point scale wherever grading system is follows) in Master’s Degree
in Business Management / Administration / in a relevant management related
discipline or consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an
equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed ) in two
years full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / recognized by the AICTE /
UGC;
OR
First Class graduate and professionally qualified Charted Accountant / Cost and
Works Accountant / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body.
Assistant Professor
i) Master’s Degree in Physical Education with good academic record as defined by the
concerned University with at least 55% marks ( or an equivalent grade and grade in
a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University or an
equivalent degree from an Indian/Foreign University
ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates must have cleared the National
Eligibility Test (NET) for lecturers conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or similar test
accredited by the UGC.
iii) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) candidates, who are, or
have been awarded Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grants
Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. degree)
Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum
eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET. For recruitment and appointment of
Assistant Professor or equivalent positions
iv) NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Degree Programmes in
disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET accredited test is not conducted.
v) A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D.
degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September 1991.
vi) Relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system
is followed by a recognized University shall also be considered eligible.
6 OTHER CONDITIONS:
1. The Syndicate reserves the right to shortlist the candidates and fill up or not to fill
up the posts without assigning any reason whatsoever.
2. Applications should be made only in the format prescribed by the University.
3. Separate application is required for each post
4. The University will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay in transit.
5. Candidates sending the application by post/speed post/courier should see that the
application reaches this University on the prescribed last date. Applications received
after the last date will be summarily rejected.
6. Further outstation candidates are informed to get their application forms well in advance
and ensure that the filled in applications reaches before the prescribed last date. Late
applications will not be entertained.
7. Enquiries on the above subject will not be entertained.
8. Since the selection of candidates is based purely on merit, attempts to canvass or bring
influence on the authorities to show favour during selection will be deemed as
disqualification and the application of such candidates will be rejected.
9. Staff recruited on or after 01/04/2003 are covered under New Contributory Pension
Scheme based on defined contribution. (G.O.Ms.No.395 of Finance (Education I)
Department, dated 16/09/2003.)
10. The candidates already in service should submit their applications through proper
channel. Otherwise they should produce NOC obtained from the employer at the time of
interview, failing which the applicant will not be interviewed.
11. The candidates should submit community certificate issued only by the competent
authority.

1. Assistant Professors : Applicants who are applying afresh and without any experience
need not fill up the API score claim form. Other candidates with required

APPENDIX – III TABLE – I
Brief Explanation: Based on the teacher’s self-assessment, API scores are proposed for (a) teaching related
activities; (b) domain knowledge; (c) participation in examination and evaluation; (d) contribution to innovative
teaching, new courses etc. The minimum API score required by teachers from this category is 75. The self-
assessment score should be based on objectively verifiable criteria wherever possible and will be finalized by the
screening/selection committee.
Universities will be required to detail the activities and in case institutional specificities require, adjust the
weightages, without changing the minimum total API scores required under this category.

CATEGORY II: CO-CURRICULAR, EXTENSION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT RELATED
ACTIVITIES.
Brief Explanation: Based on the teacher’s self-assessment, category II API scores are proposed for co-curricular
and extension activities; and Professional development related contributions. The minimum API required by
teachers for eligibility for promotion is 15. A list of items and proposed scores is given below. It will be noticed that
all teachers can earn scores from a number of items, whereas some activities will be carried out only be one or a
few teachers. The list of activities is broad enough for the minimum API score required (15) in this category to
accrue to all teachers. As before, the self-assessment score should be based on objectively verifiable criteria and
will be finalized by the screening/selection committee.
The model table below gives groups of activities and API scores. Universities may detail the activities or, in case
institutional specificities require, adjust the weightages, without changing the minimum total API scores required
under this category.

Notes.
1. It is incumbent on the Coordination Committee proposed in these Regulations and the University to prepare
and publicize within six months subject-wise lists of journals, periodicals and publishers under categories IIIA
and B. Till such time, screening/selection committees will assess and verify the categorization and scores of
publications.
2. The API for joint publications will have to be calculated in the following manner: Of the total score for the
relevant category of publication by the concerned teacher, the first/Principal author and the corresponding
author/supervisor/mentor of the teacher would share equally 60% of the total points and the remaining 40%
would be shared equally by all other authors.
