1) The document discusses the orchard layouts of Modules C and F at CvSU-SAKA in Indang, Cavite. 2) It assessed the total areas, types of fruit trees planted, and used GIS technology to map the current layouts. 3) For Module C, the assessment found banana, lanzones, coffee, durian, coconut, rambutan, and papaya trees. For Module F, it found banana, lychee, soursop, black pepper, coconut, madre de cacao, durian, coffee and papaya trees.

I. Introduction

In orchard planning one of the most important thing to consider is its Layout. Proper spacing would
give maximum efficiency for the tree to grow and have optimum amount of growth such as the height and
width of the tree and also nutrients and other essential factors for its development. With this CvSU-SAKA
is assessed;

II. Objectives

1) To have knowledge on proper Layout

2) To be able to make use of technology for assessment in layout
3) To know the efficiency of the orchard in terms of yield

III. Methodology

1) Find a prospect site for assessment

2) Know the total area and total number of trees
3) Locate the limits of the area
4) Count all the fruit trees (make use of markers and labels)
5) Make use of GIS and other technology for layout

IV. Results and Discussion

For the two modules different amount of trees and fruits were recorded having some of the trees
dying and some have poor quality fruits duly because the orchard is not being maintained intensively but
still bears fruits that are sold to nearby market.

Geography
The area is located at CvSU-Indang, with Module F having a total area of 2,117 sqm and Module C with a
total area of 6823 sqm the biggest area among all the modules,
GIS or Geographic Information System was used or the Google Earth Satellite was used in order to have
come up with the location of the orchard.

Fruit trees planted

Since the area is not maintained as much as it was before, different fruit trees has thrived on the area without
proper spacing or allotment, some have already died. So the area was already assessed before as seen in the

photos.

But these findings was done on later years so updates on what trees may have grown on the modules are
not included so this so far was what we have found on both modules:

Module C

Before
Coconut – 29 trees
Lanzones – 81 trees
Coffee – 122 trees
Durian – 6 trees
Banana – 64 mats

After (our assessment of layout)

Banana – 73 mats
Lanzones – 71 trees
Coffee – 95 trees
Durian – 6 trees
Coconut – 26 trees
Rambutan – 5 trees
Papaya – 4 trees

Below is the newly mapped Module C

Module F

Before
Coconut – 26 trees
Lychee – 56 trees
Soursop – 61 trees
Durian – 4 trees
Black pepper – 34 plants

After (assessment of layout)

Banana – 12 mats
Lychee – 63 trees
Soursop – 46 trees
Black pepper – 17
Coconut – 26 trees
Madre de cacao – 47 trees
Papaya – 1
Durian – 2
Coffee - 11

V. Conclusion

Due to different trees that are planted on the area, some trees have strived but others died because the
trees are not maintained as much as before but entirely the area can still yield fruits and may still be
productive despite the measurement or spaces of the fruit trees. The area can still be managed and
properly used if allotted more time in its use.
