Bohol Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative, formerly known as Loay Community
Multi-Purpose Cooperative started on April 14, 1972 with 15 founders led by late Ranulfo
Nazareno. Now in 2016, 44 years after, it has now 10 branches and satellite offices, namely in:
Tagbilaran, Guindulman, Bilar, Sierra Bullones, Jagna, Trinidad, Calape, Ubay, and Pitogo in
Bohol and outside the province, in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.
As a credit and savings cooperative, it has a wide variety of products and services
offered to its members catering their own needs. Its credit services include: Grocery Loan,
Express Loan, Productive or Business Loan, Agricultural Loan, Calamity or Emergency Loan and
Microfinance Loan. Its savings services include: Regular Savings/ Time Deposit and
Extraordinary Savings Deposit Program with ATM Cards or Passbooks being given to its
members. They also offer insurances like: Life insurance for the member and its family, fire
insurance for residential and commercial buildings, Accident Insurance (Coop Aksi Plan, Student
Personal Accident and Personal Travel Insurance), Member’s Memorial Plan, Motor/Car
Insurance and Registration/Renewal of Motor and Vehicles.
With the number of years in its industry, Bohol CMP Cooperative continued to grow
through the combined efforts of all its members and their hardwork didn’t left unnoticed as
they were awarded and recognized as the Most Progressive Cooperative in Bohol, the Most
Outstanding Cooperative in Visayas by the National Livelihood Development Corporation, Top
20 Millionaire Cooperative and Best Practices in Social Responsibilities among others. Truly it
has lived as what its slogan says: The Center and Symbol of Unity for Kaliwat Bol-anon in the
Whole Country. Current members and persons who wanted to be members can be assured that
the Bohol CMP Cooperative wouldn’t stop to look for more ways to help answer their needs.
Vision: A strong and viable coop that is committed to provide appropriate and sustainable
programs and services for the economic, socio-cultural and spiritual development for our
members and the community.
Mission: To promote entrepreneurship as a way of life of members in a conducive and
favourable environment for their spiritual and socio-economic growth by delivering efficient,
effective products and services by our professional management team.

Assessment based on the Cooperative Principles:
1. Open and voluntary membership
Bohol CMP Cooperative has now a total of 16,157 members. Anyone can be a
member with the following requirements: he/she should be Filipino at least 18 years
old, should bring any government-issued ID’s or if none, Birth Certificate, attend the
PMES seminar and pay the registration of P25 and Membership fee of P300.
2. Democratic Control
Bohol CMP Cooperative has an Ownership Meeting for every branch and an
Annual Representative Meeting where they vote for the Board of Directors.
3. Member Economic Participation
Any member can avail of any of the cooperative’s credit services like loans which
the monthly interest is diminishing as they pay and will just be returned to them
through the Patronage Refund that they will get. The members’ savings deposit is also
secured and have higher interest compared to the banks. In the Extra-ordinary Savings
Deposit Program for example, for as low as P5 daily deposit for 5 years, one will receive
P11,000 after maturity. It is affordable and is really suited for its members.

Before anyone can be a member, one would attend a PMES seminar first to
understand fully how the cooperative functions and how it can help the aspirant
member. Aside from that, yearly they help seminars for the members for introduction of
new products and services being offered by the cooperative.
6. Cooperation among cooperatives
Bohol CMP Cooperatives has national affiliates, namely: NATCCO (National
Cooperation of Cooperatives), VICCO (Visayas Confederation of Cooperatives), PCF
(International Philippine Cooperation of Cooperatives) and PFCCO (Philippine Federation
of Credit Cooperatives).
7. Concern for Community
Bohol CMP Cooperative also does some outreach and social responsibilities
programs like: mangrove reforestation, medical missions, coastal clean-up, feeding
programs and every December, it also gives bundles of joy to indigent members of the
community. It doesn’t forget to give back to the community which helped the
cooperative where it is now.
