needs of different stakeholders/ sectors

 To promote qualified instructor and a unified training


curriculum with the same training and qualification for
domestic and international crew

 Instil a safety culture in those aspiring to join the seafaring
profession through appropriate education.

 Ensure the same training and qualifications requirements for


both domestic and international ferry crews, and delivery by
qualified instructors who understand gender issues on the
basis of a unified training curriculum.

 Identify women champions to inspire and serve as role
models to encourage women to participate in the maritime
industry on board and ashore, in particular in the domestic
ferry sector.

 Recognize women as role models by observing and following


safety instructions, challenging and questioning their absence
or inadequacy and by assisting and educating others on
board and ashore.

 Bring capacity building to coastal communities to get
them involved in safety awareness and to take pride in
being safety advocates.

disseminate materials that promote safety awareness
