Pick a photo of a place you’ve been.

Write about your trip there in the form of


a postcard to a close friend. Your piece should:
a. Be written in the present tense (as if you are there right now)
b. Include at least one piece of dialogue (you can make it up)
c. Include a description of the following three things: the scene pictured
in the photo; a person you met on your trip; something you ate
1) You’re going on a trip to a place you’ve been before. (Chautauqua, for
example.) What do you pack? Make a list below:

2) Write an essay in the form of a packing list: If you’re going to _______,


here’s what to take. Include:
a. At least five items
b. One anecdote per item to support your reasoning (for example:
“A poncho. When I first went to Jamaica, I didn’t realize it was the
middle of hurricane season…”)
1) Write 1-2 sentences for each of the following prompts:

a) What was the worst trip you ever took?

b) What’s the best trip you ever took?

c) What place have you traveled to that didn’t match your


expectations?

2) Pick one of the prompts from above and write an essay. Include:
a. An interaction you had with a stranger on the trip
b. How locals in the place you visited dressed, talked, ate, and any
other noteworthy habits.
