Math Class Test Results

The teacher analyzed test results from their math class in Excel and was surprised by the results. While a handful of students earned A's and B's, the majority received C's, D's, or F's, indicating the class was struggling more than the overall averages suggested. The teacher identified several students who scored poorly, especially in specific areas like subtraction and division, and realized they need to provide extra help and possibly adjust their teaching methods to help students better understand math concepts.

Math Class Test Results: Excel

I learned a lot from this excel assignment not only about my students’ performances but my
teaching as well!

As a whole, my class is not doing so well at math. I have a hand full of A’s and B’s here, but
majority of my class has C’s, D’s, and F’s. When I first looked at the Max score, Average score
and Minimum score, it didn’t look like my class was struggling that bad. However, when I took a
deeper look at exactly how many As, B’s, C’s, D’s and F’s there actually are, I was surprised to
see the results!
I have 5 students that have either an A or B. Those are Hugh, Juan, Jack, Cody, and Jamal.
However, I have over 10 that need extra help! Especially Patrick, Sarah, Nathan, Molly, Claire,
and Luke who scored in the 50s or lower! Luke needs help all around. Patrick needs help with
subtraction and division. Molly also needs help with subtraction and division.
While Sarah scored a 100% on the addition section, she only scored a 40% on the division. Hugh
and Juan also scored 100% on the addition section. Juan and Cody were the only two to score a
100% on the division section.
This information helped me to not only pinpoint who needs extra help, but helps me know
what I need to focus my teaching on and maybe teach in a different way that will help my
students better understand the concept.
