Housekeeping
Hazard Controls:
- Safety awareness: (housekeeping, 5S Steps, and manual handling)
training.
- 5S Steps:
1. Sort: Remove all unnecessary materials and equipment
2. Stabilize: Make it obvious where things belong
3. Shine: Clean everything, inside and out and outside ( Housekeeping)
Outline 4. Standardize: Establish guidelines standards and guidelines for the
Housekeeping team
- Hazards
- Safety Controls
5. Sustain: Take responsibility for your own area
- Inspection (unsafe conditions/acts) - Appropriate PPE: (e.g., dust mask, gloves, goggles, splash aprons)
- Emergency Preparedness - Free of obstructions: roads, access, egress route, passageways,
walkways, and floors
Cost of Poor Housekeeping: Poor housekeeping leads
- Separation for Materials / waste: e.g. hazardous and non-hazardous,
to a variety of accidents, injuries, damage and
problems recycled and non-recycled
- Provide warning signs: e.g. wet floor
