In this series we will be bringing you the more complex meditational procedures which have previously been reserved for the spiritual development of ritualistically linked Initiates of the Mystery Schools. The Qabalistic methods we will relate are specifically de- signed to bring about accelerated spiritual unfoldment. The healing involved is a healing of the total personality, a making whole or com- plete of the several vehicles of expression. These Qabalistic vibratory correlations will not only help you to attune your consciousness to higher levels of awareness, they will also enable you to hold or fix the essence of such an experience in your physical vehicle so that you can clearly recall it in waking conscious- ness. We will learn to ‘tune in! on the continuous meditations of Higher Beings by temporarily raising the vibratory frequency of our subtle bodies. Ultimately, our aim is to make this upgrading of vibratory rate relatively permanent so that we can enter into union with higher planes of awareness at will. ‘One of the basic tenets of Ageless Wisdom is the Unity of All, the singleness of the universe. All differentiated powers are emanations of a Single Power that manifests as radiant, vibratory, conscious energy. All differentiations are appearances within the limited framework of time and space. Because all are from One, these differentiated emanations are related and able to interact with one another. It is through the inter actions of these related emanations of a Single Power that the evolving universe proceeds These related energies of the One Life are vibratory and radia- ting. They pulsate in ceaseless waves of varying 'number' or ‘note’; they permeate all of space, filling it through and through. Thus they are omnipresent, and, because of this, any specific rate may be perceived anywhere in the universe by an instrument attuned to correlate with its Particular vibration. Through such vibratory correlations we can place ourselves in attunement with the higher creative forces of the universe. We can become direct channels or agents of the One Self and Its evolu- tionary Plan. We can become co-administrators of Divine Law by pla- cing ourselves in harmony with Divine cosmic principles. Our personality is an intricate complex of these related vibra- tions. We each form a distinctive color scheme and a unique tonal pat- tern that is subject to change by a rearrangement of the light and sound Vibrations of which it is composed. Through consciously directed cor- relations and attunements we can accelerate the rearrangement of these vibrations and thereby transform the pattern of personality more rapidly. ‘We change the pattern by establishing a better coordination and a more qQ) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 1 harmonious interchange between the innumerable living conscious entities that hold a specific vibratory rate in relative stability. ; On the whole, the basic pattern of personality is composed of vibrations peculiar to one's level of mental, emotional and spiritual development. This pattern can be upgraded in form, in tone, in color. All life experiences make some difference in the quality of this pattern, but unless we are consciously working on its transformation the changes are very slow and quite imperceptible through several incarnations. Conscious transmutational work, such as you are receiving through these instructions, immensely accelerates the rate of change in the vibratory pattern of personality. This is because you have come to the point in your development where you are able to consciously co- operate in self-transmutation for the purpose of becoming a more ade- quate and serviceable channel for the One Identity. By this we do not mean that only those consciously engaged in self-transmutation are making progress. For some advanced souls it is not their cycle to work directly with the vibratory energies. How- ever, the unselfish, productive and meaningful lives that they lead, apart from conscious participation in the Great Work, have a similar transforming effect. As we begin this more complex and demanding phase of trans- mutational work, we need to understand just what is meant by vibratory attunement. From earlier studies we know that our sensory awarene: of all physical phenomena is based on the perception and interpretation of various vibratory impulses. We know further that our ordinary awareness, as well as the extended awareness achieved through scien- tific methods, is based on perception of only a very narrow range of the total ocean of cosmic vibrations. What we are able to perceive in the sound and light ranges, for instance, is only a minute portion of the whole. By learning to correlate our consciousness with the vaster ranges of cosmic vibration, we will begin to find freedom from delusion by perceiving the whole of which we formerly knew only the part. ‘The limitations of partial perception are what the Eastern philo- sophers refer to as the Maya, or the illusion of existence. Yet we must remember that the vibrations which are the subject of these illu- sory interpretations are themselves real, The unreality is in the way they are interpreted by the self-conscious mind. We not only interpret from but a small portion of the whole, we are also influenced by the legion of erroneous ideas about the meaning of existence patterned in the collective consciousness of humanity. ‘The difference in the vibratory rates that manifest as physical phenomena, and those that express in higher realms, is a difference in rapidity of pulsation. The slower the motion, the more material or crystallized the expression will be. The more rapid the motion, that is, the more pulsations or repetitions per second, the less material or tangible the expression. Thus we slow down, or cool, to condense or manifest. We speed up, or heat, to dissolve or subiilize. A material- (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 1 ized result is the condensation of a spiritual essence. This essence is the same, whether manifesting physical phenomena in Assiah or vibrating in its most abstract state in Atziluth. Different levels of the same basic note, or wave length, can vary even on the physical plane. The forms of water show this basic principle of variation. Ice, or crystallization, results from lowering the temperature of water. This is actually a slowing down of the rate of vibratory activity. By raising the temperature, or speeding up the rate of vibratory activity, the water becomes steam and seemingly dis- appears from our sensory perceptions. Our physical bodies are composed of a complex group of inter- related vibratory frequencies. Every such rate within the body corre- lates with a cosmic vibration. The frequencies peculiar to human nerve currents and brain waves have their cosmic correlates. There are cosmic vibrations that correspond to the specific wave length of every cell in our bodies. Furthermore, everything we think or feel, every response we make to life, has a unique vibration within the Universal Consciousness, and therefore has a distinct correlation with some cos- mic level of vibratory activity. There is no real separation anywhere in the universe. Within our personality complex we hold vibratory rates that correlate with every cosmic power. The principle consideration of this series of instructions will be to outline a mode of procedure that will effect an interchange between the various vibratory rates within personality and their cosmic counterparts. This is done by learning how to increase the rapidity of some specific vibratory rate within us to where it becomes attuned and receptive to its higher correlate. The method used to bring about this attunement with a Cosmic Power or Higher Intelligence is based upon the principle of resonance. That is, the receiving apparatus varies and adjusts its own frequency until it is the same as the higher frequency to which it desires to attune. This is accomplished by deliberately emphasizing a specific rate or frequency within personality, and then, through mental and meditational g it so that it vibrates with its higher counterpart and re- ceives the higher, more intense current of energy into itself. When this has been accomplished, the cosmic frequency will produce distinct amplitudes, distinct impressions of its vibratory current within the receiving apparatus. As the process is repeated and reiterated, the personal level energies become balanced and harmonized to where the entire persona- lity, including the physical vehicle, is perfected and completed. The individual becomes an acutely attuned instrument, able to receive and transmit a direct flow of energy and wisdom from the One Identity. As human personalities, we have specific wave lengths that cor- respond to those on every plane of the universe. We are in the process of learning to respond to, and become consciously aware of, more and @B) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 1 more of these latent energies within us. A physical incarnation can be thought of as a state of consciousness wherein one is concentrated within a relatively crystallized field of vibrations. When we drop our Physical bodies our conscious awareness becomes oriented to a more rapid vibratory frequency. This subtler plane of awareness is with us always. It has a distinct rate or motion within our total consciousness. it is, as you know, our astral dwelling place. The science of correlating color and sound vibrations for trans- mutation is based upon the relationship and interaction between the various planes upon which we dwell. We are born into a physical in~ carnation with certain vibratory tendencies, certain tonal patterns certain color schemes. At this stage of our development there are yet discords of sound and clashes in color. Through the instructions given in this course you are going to find out which tones are too loud and which ones are too weak; which colors over-predominate and which ones need more empha ‘Then we can use the magical science of vibratory correlation to bring about a harmony of sound and a balance and integra- tion of color that will be reflected in a more harmonious, balanced and integrated personality instrument. In the lessons that follow we will prepare ourselves for advanced meditational practices by first expanding upon earlier instruction, 80 that we have a thorough understanding of the tone and color correspon- dences to specific states of consciousness and astrological tendencies as symbolized in Tarot and on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Two (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) ‘The color images and sound intonations we will be practicing in this course are more than exercises for personal transmutation or for freeing oneself from everyday problems, As advanced B,O,T.A, as- pirants, dedicated to the purposes of the Great Work, we form a powerful unity of effort that immensely concentrates and intensifies the energies with which we are working. This unity of effort gathers power we could not generate nor handle alone. We most definitely need each other as we combine our efforts to become conscious participants in the Hierarchical Plan for Evolution. As Ihave explained elsewhere, it is not necessary that we be together physically for this work, or that we perfom our meditations and practices at exactly the same time. We give manifesting power and strength to specific mental images by giving them our attention. These images are vitally important to the Plan for the accelerated evolution of the human race. We are performing a great service to life by giving the power of our conscious attention to these images. Automatically our personal evolution will be accelerated, even though we do not make it the primary concern. Our main dedication during this series should be to offer our- selves as willing servants of life, as transparent channels for whatever portion of the accelerated evolutionary plan we are able to transmit. "Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and all else shall be added unto you." In the sense pertaining to what we have been discussing, it is seeking that undeniable awareness of unity; it is knowing that whatever we do for all of life ia no different than what we do for ourselve! The basic method of practice we will follow is one familiar to you from past courses. We will combine the Tarot symbols with their color and tone correspondences. Sound is an atmospheric vibration as we hear it; color is almost wholly reflected light as we perceive it in nature. The correlation between them is a relationship of number, of wave lengths per second. Every semitone of the musical scale has a given number of vibrations per second. By doubling them repeatedly, eventually one arrives at the number of vibrations per second of a corresponding color sensation. __, Both sound and light vibrations are part of the electro-magnetic activity of the universe, When we image a color we are actually direc ting and controlling light vibrations with our consciousness. When we intone a musical note with deliberation we are directing sound vibrations. Magical words of power make use of definite correlations between sound vibrations and the formative forces of nature. The correspondence i again a number relationship, Articulate sounds and words have geome- trical shapes that correspond by number to the structure of physical phenomena. a) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 2 ‘This knowledge that sound vibrations have definite formative Power is the basis of Mantra-vidya, the Eastern Occult method of controlling forces with articulated sound, In the Bible the formative Power of sound is symbolized by introducing creative acts with the words, "and God said''. Sound is power. As with all powers, the way it 1s used determines whether it la benelicial or harmful. | Articulate sounds and mental images form the elemental forces into patterns that correlate with the thought or image. A thought which has the power to change the form of anything is a thought put into words, either auditory or mental. Articulate sound does not have to be actually vocalized. Every substance in the universe is also related in its basic structure to light. By means of a spectroscope, scientists are able to determine the substances that make up even the most distant stars. Analysis of every known substance by this method has shown that every element and combination of elements has its invariable color manifes~ tation. In the Qabalistic method of combining colors with their corre- lating tones, we intensify and make distinct the power of the vibrations with which we are working. We then combine these intensified energies with Tarot and Tree of Life symbols, which serve as directing images that are able to guide the energies into the positive corms cad sites ot consciousness they symbolize. Although colors and tones are forces with infinite gradations of expression, there are seven fundamental colors and seven fundamental tones. This corresponds to the ancient doctrines wherein the entire cyclic activity of the universe is based on the number seven. In prac- tical work these seven colors and tones correspond to the seven planets of this solar system known to the ancients and to the seven Inner Holy Planets which bear the same names. The number 12 is also an important one in all esoteric work, as you undoubtedly learned in your study of the Magical Language. The twelve semitones of the musical scale and the twelve colors of the chro- matic scale have a correspondence to the twelve basic astrological types and to the twelve bodily areas related to the zodiacal signs. These, in turn, have a correspondence to the twelve Hebrew Tribes and the twelve Apostles referred to in the Bible. All these various relation- ships will be a part of our practical work with the vibratory powers of Qabalah. We will be combining and synthesizing knowledge gained in ear- lier B.O, T.A, courses as to types of energy, modes of consciousnes: and planes of expression and utilizing it in ways that will help us to be- come channels for the higher frequencies of cosmic and solar vibration. In the course on Esoteric Astrology, for instance, we empha- sized the idea that the many personality variations which correspond to (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 2 astrological types are all a part of our total selfhood. We are the whole zodiac. The value of knowing and recognizing these variations of per- sonality is that we can learn to use them in our spiritual development By combining the particular colors, tones and Tarot symbols that cor~ respond to specific planetary influences and variations of personality, we can emphasize certain attributes and subdue others in ways that will help us to become attuned to particular areas of wisdom or become re~ ceptive to certain energies we might need to achieve special results. From the lessons in The Oracle of Tarot course, you learned that there are really 400 levels of awareness or development as ex~ pressed by the Qabalistic system. There is a Tree of Life, complete with ten Sephiroth and connecting paths in each of the four Qabalistic worlds. Within each of the ten Sephiroth in these four major Trees is a secondary Tree, making 400 Sephiratic states of awareness in all. Each of us has an evolutionary development level that corres- ponds to one of the Sephirah within a Sephirah in one of the Four Worlds. Just what your specific grade may be it is not necessary for you to know at this time. What is important is that whatever the grade you hold, it will be brought nearer to its perfection and ultimate transcendence through the practical work we will be doing. Incidentally, none but genuine Adepts would know your exact grade, and They would be too wise to tell you what it is. To perfect one level or grade of expression and ascend to the next is the purpose of all transmutational practices. This includes the larger planetary and cosmic evolutions. One of our main endeavors, in working with the cosmic vibratory powers, will be to aid in the evo- lution of all the kingdoms of nature. The same principle holds true in these larger transformations as in that of an individual. One level of expression must be brought into balance, harmony and equilibrium be- fore a higher level can be embraced From our study of the Alchemical Process in the course on The Great Work, you learned that the human organism is the most perfect of laboratories wherein one may discover the secrets of nature, This interior laboratory uses subtler means of perception than those em- Ployed by science. It is in this interior laboratory that we can make use of the vibratory correlations between color and sound. Every cell and every organ in our bodies has its definite color and tone. The means through which we intensify and harmonize the color and tone Vibrations is that of first establishing them within our own organism. The intensified, amplified energies can then be consciously directed outward to aid others in the evolutionary process. i In the earlier series on Sound and Color you received the Tattvic ‘grams. They show the basic geometrical forms that are related to various rates and characters of vibration. They are also said to re- Present modes of motion and the vibratory patterns upon which our phy- sical sense impressions are based. You learned that these geometrical diagrams have correspondences to the various states of consciousness (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 2 symbolized in the Tarot Keys. They also correlate with the four elements and, therefore, with the Four Worlds of the Qabalis' The use of these symbols along with those of Tarot and the Tree of Life, will help us in perfecting the kind of creative imagery that can bring the higher vibratory frequencies into physical manifestation. The Tattvas are said to be modifications of Prana, the Cosmic Life-breath. In the Qabalistic Tradition, Prana is identical to Ruach. Both of these terms point to the importance of deep, rhythmic breath~ ing in all meditational and transmutational work. In the practical meditations of this series we will be utilizing the knowledge and perceptions and insights we have gained from all the earlier courses of B.O.T.A. We will be learning the art of directing the subtle vibratory powers which enter into the composition of all things in the universe. Because the universe is mental, all bodies, and consequently all human circumstances, are formed and made physically manifest by mental activity. The universe comes into actual physical being through the activity of the Universal Mind. That mind projects Itself into physical forms by acts of imagination. We can participate in the Universal creative process by learning to attune our acts of imagination with those of Yekhidah, the One Identity in Kether. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Three (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) When we visualize ourselves within Tarot symbols we are actually uniting our consciousness with the archetypal level of the states of being and types of expression symbolized by each Key. This correlation with higher states is possible to us because every principle of nature, every state of consciousness, has innumerable octaves of expression. Through the coordination effected by utilizing the forces of color and sound, we form patterns of relationship that align us with the higher expressions of the specific type of energy or manifestation with which we are concerned at the time. The sound and light energies combined with the imaging of ourselves within the Tarot Keys serves to pattern a vibratory formula that tunes us in on the consciousness of the Adepts. By correlation, our meditation unites with Their continuous meditation on the eternal truths behind the Tarot images. All the practical work of B.O.T. A. is designed to help us build the kind of vehicle that can register thes: higher truths. Keep this in mind as you perform the truly magical combination of imagery and intonation. The kind of vehicle necessary is a physical body composed of finer, more sensitive substance than that of the ordinary man. This means that the very structure of our cells has to be subtilized. The finer, more rapid frequencies will not move gross matter. They are too fine and literally go right through it. It takes subtilized matter to register the higher vibrations always present in the total ocean of consciousness. The color and sound intonations with Tarot speed up the vibra- tory frequency of the substance of our bodies. The formulas we use actually stimulate higher octaves of vibration into activity within u As we subtilize the substance of our physical bodies in this way we are participating in the Redemption of Matter, in the upgrading of !that which is below! the self-conscious intellect of man. We are Liberating living, conscious entities from one level of expression and Preparing them to vibrate on a higher one. Since thought is a kind of vibration that is potentially creative, it is by using this creative power more intelligently and more knowingly that we become conscious co-creators with God. Through the deliberate intonation of specific sounds there is an intensified focus of vibratory energies into a specific pattern. You have reached the stage of deve~ lopment where the more intense occult methods are open to you. The seven Inner Holy Planets and their corresponding Tarot symbols will be our first concern. We will combine intonations with visual images in order to activate each type of energy in a more intense qa) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 3 and complex manner. We are going to bring a new level of intensity to bear upon our mental, emotional and physical vehicles. Tarot images keep us in the positive vibrational range of any particular power we may be invoking--‘The Great Work te the art of learning to use the formative vibrations of the universe to build vehicles through which superconscious energies can express. The Qabalistic vibratory formulas we will be using help us get the characteristic vibration related to a specific state of consciousnes: into motion. As we heighten and intensify energies in this way, the related Tarot symbol keeps them functioning within positive bounds by giving them a definite pattern to follow. The energy we invoke is thus guided into its highest possible expression. Before proceeding with the powers that correlate with the seven Interior Stars, Iwant to give you some specific instructions on the use of the Divine Names. From now on you are going to begin every period of practice by intoning four of the Hebrew Divine Names. To begin with the Divine Names is to align all your subsequent invocations with the Atziluthic plane of expression. The Divine Names are sound for- mulas related to the highest spiritual powers and to the archetypal level of principles. ‘When we intone a Divine Name (or any other level of Qabalistic formula for that matter) we are sending forth a melody line which has magnetic formative power in the subtler levels of substance. The tone patterns fashioned by the Divine Names have an affinity for the highest Cosmic vibratory emanations. Since each note of the formula has a correlating color, a color pattern is also formed. ‘Through the power of the intoned vibration we become attuned to the highest level of the energy it represents. Eheyeh, n°nx, is the highest of the Hebrew Divine Names of God attributed to Kether, the Crown. It is translated as I AM, the primary declaration of pure being unqualified by any predicate. To intone this Name is to attune one personality complex to the first whirling forth; to the inception or fhitiating aspect of all things in the universe, Thus Eheyeh is the tonal representative of energy that, on all levels, is associated with the power to initiate, to begin, to give forth seed ideas. ‘After Eheyeh we will intone Yod Heh Vay Heh, mia», the Divine Name attributed to Chokmah. When we intone Yod Heh Vay Heh we are aligning the energies of our personality with the cosmic life force; ath the light energy of the sphere of the zodiac; with the light that is She with Lie and consciousness. We are attuning ourselves to the highest expression of the energies associated with the zodiacal con- stellations. We are putting all our subsequent use of the zodiacal Gnergies under the dominion of the correlating Divine Principle in Ateiluth. ‘The third intonation will be Elohim, 577%. With this sound formula we become correlated with the highest levels of creative power. (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 3 We are symbolically placing ourselves under the protecting love of Neshamah, the Divine Soul which naught can defile. Adonai, 737K, is the Divine Name attributed to Malkuth, the Kingdom. This fourth intonation relates us to the highest principles behind the form side of life. Adonai aligns our personality and our physical body with Kallah, the Bride, who sits upon the throne of Binah. When intoning Adonai, endeavor to form the conscious inten- tion of bringing higher vibrations into the world, of helping to make the substance of Malkuth finer, subtler and more able to register the ritual emanations that flow down from above. By always beginning our practices with the intonation of these four Divine Names, we are putting ourselves into right relationship to the highest levels of all the forces we will be invoking. This is one of the important protections embraced by the Qabalistic system of magical practices. We safeguard ourselves from negative expressions of any of the forces we may intensify by this symbolic surrendering to Higher Guidance; by this symbolic relinquishing of any powers we may arouse to the Divine Ones for Their use in the evolutionary process. You should realize that such 'words of power! have real power. ‘You will not necessarily experience any unusual impressions oF pay- chic awarenesses, but the power is actual. If the intonation is done correctly, it will accomplish what it pposed to accomplish. ‘As we have admonished you in earlier lessons, direct concen- tration on the physical areas related to the Inner Holy Planets is un- wise. The Inner Planets are the etheric centers wherein the cosmic energies enter into our personal field of expression. To excite and arouse them without safeguards is to run some risk. The Divine Names are one of the safeguards in the Qabalistic system. The in- direct Tarot method of stimulation is another. We do not concentrate on any of the physical organs related to the psychic centers. We arouse their activity by imaging the symbolism of the Tarot Key and intoning the notes related to them. ____ This is not only a safeguard against the danger of negative stimulation, but it is definitely more desirable because it attunes our consciousness to the higher plane expressions of the energy involved. The lower, more condensed frequencies of the same basic energy are caused to quicken their rate and come into a closer alignment with the higher frequency By this Taethod the more condensed manifestations are permanently altered to some extent by the influx of the higher, but related, vibratory activity. This method of transmutation is actually more effectiye because, as you know, the subconscious formative Powers are controlled by the indirect method of suggestion. | Ihave not mentioned the need for safeguards to make you fearful in any negative sense. Yet caution is certainly a part of all spiritual development. It is expressed in discrimination. From your study of Alchemy you know that the higher levels of consciousness are related (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 3 to a change in blood chemistry. This change is brought about through the effect of the Qabalistic vibratory powers on the physical organism. With the Qabalistic method there is no danger of damage to the Vehicles as there is with the use of drugs to alter body chemistry. Partial, imperfect alterations are effected by the use of drugs, and they bring correspondingly partial and imperfect states of expanded awarenes: ‘The Bible says that ''The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." This is most applicable for all who would tread the Path of Return. We must not be lured off the direct route by the fascination of psychic byways or methods that effect premature opening of Psychic centers We can explore the rivers of the soul with caution and safety by placing ourselves under the guidance of the Divine levels and offering ourselves as instruments for the transmission of the higher universal energies, so that the perfection of the human kingdom and the lifting of living, .conscious substance may be manifest here on earth. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Four (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) Thope by now that you have gained skill in focusing your cons- cious attention. It takes attention to give the visualizations and chants to be outlined in this course their magical power to liberate and trans- mute. Anything to which we give our attention, whether constructive or destructive, is fed with dynamic energy. However, the influx of formative power does not make us good or bad in itself. What it docs is accentuate personal traits — both the positive ones and the ones that are in error. Indeed, as you have undoubtedly found from your long years in B,O.T.A, work, negative responses are forcibly brought to our attention so that it becomes imperative that we do something about them. The Great Work begins by applying the fire of purification to burn away the accumulation of error in the automatic level of cons- ciousness. In the preceding course, entitled Qabalistic Doctrines on Sexual Polarity, [helped you to become aware of the main sources of error and conflict. You were given methods whereby negative responses and behavior patterns pertaining to masculine-feminine relationships could be brought into better harmony. You were shown the Way of Love. ‘Although you have probably not dissolved all erroneous reactions to- ward sex as yet, if you are practicing the art of projecting love and unity to others and keeping in mind the need for harmonious relation- ships with the opposite sex, you are headed in the right direction. So Jong as you are sincere and aspiring, the safeguards inherent in the Qabalistic Training System will direct any invoked powers into cons~ tructive channels. In this way you avoid, as much as possible, ener- gizing any negative responses that you may not yet have completely under control. Through the Tarot visualization method we are holding our attention exclusively on the positive expressions of all states of cons- ciousness. If you will keep remembering that your personality is subject to change under the guidance of your Higher Self, you will not find the work of transmutation difficult. With Tarot we charge only the positive ranges of vibration with our attention as we hold the image, vibrate the tone and permeate the body with color. The solar system in which we live is the manifest body of the Central Spiritual Sun. The planets therein are concentrated whirling vortices of consciousness within that Central Sun. Every human being is a ray of that Sun, a projection of that Central Consciousness. Thus man is potentially one with the highest consciousness in the solar sys~ tem. Man is one with the Divine Idea or Logos. The personality portion of you was projected into the limitations of incarnate existence by that Central Self. As we become directly a) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 4 aware of our union with the Higher Consciousness we do not acquire anything. We merely lift the temporary veils and extend the circum~ ference of the circle back toward the Center. The Interior Stars or etheric centers within us are the micro~ cosmic corollaries of the whirling planetary centers of consciousne| within the solar system. They vibrate with a correlating energy. They nourish and inform correlating nerve centers and glands in the Physical body. Eventually it is through the activity of these nerve ce: ters and glands that the Higher Self gains control of the physical body. This identity of energies between the microcosm and the mac- ocosm is the basis for the upgrading and subtilizing of the ‘little world’ or Lesser Countenance, Zauir Anpin,]7?B3® 1797, by an influx of correlating energies from the Vast Countenance, Arik Anpin, 720K PIR, These higher vibratory powers that eventually unite us with the Central Sun are with us always. They are in the very air we breathe and the food we eat. The secret of perfecting the microcosm is in extracting the higher, more subtle energies of the Mother aspect from matter in the form of food and combining them with the higher energies of the Father aapect taken from the air we breathe. Their union gives birth to the Christ consciousness in the very cells of our body, preparing the total individuality for the final liberation and Union with the All. Proper breath control and the cultivation of the ability to breathe deeply and rhythmically is an integral part of all work with light and sound vibrations. Even though many of you may believe you are competent breathers by now, I believe it will be helpful to give some definite instruction in the art of breathing at this point. It is so important an aspect of magical practice that even if these instructions are not new to you, they will bear repetition. With proper breathing you will be assuring yourself of receiving a greater influx of the Divine Greative energy that fills space through and through. The more rapid frequencies of this One Energy are not available to us, however, until we have learned how to extract these subtle essences through proper breath control. Begin by checking your posture. See to it that you are sitting correctly and wearing loose clothing. You cannot breathe properly unless your body is in the correct alignment and free to breathe deeply. The feet should be flat on the floor and your back straight. Hold your chin at right angles to your body with your shoulders back and down. Begin your full breathing by moving the diaphragm outward. ‘This slowly pushes the abdomen outwards and fills the lower lobes of the lungs with air, As you arch out the abdomen the air naturally flows into the lower part of the lungs. It is a good idea to put the palms of your hands on your abdomen to check its movement. Next, spread out the lower ribs and the middle part of your chest so that air 2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 4 slowly streams into your middle lungs. Now arch out your upper chest, drawing in as much air as you can into the upper lungs At this point your ribs and collarbone are lifted and expanded outward. As the collarbone expands, note that the abdominal wall be- gins to draw in slightly and acts as a support for the lungs. Hold the air in for just a moment at first. This whole inhalation should be per- formed in one smooth movement without a break. It is a slow, wave- like motion from the abdomen upwards. During this inhalation process use the power of visualization to See your rib cage being filled with vital energy. For the purposes of this first practice see this vital energy as a brilliant, vibrating yellow. We are not just breathing in air; we are breathing in the universal vibratory currents. Every second, cosmic energies are flowing through you and being incorporated into your very cells. They would have to be or you could not live. But there are many more that go right through you because you do not yet have the necessary apparatus for registering them. Now exhalation begins. After holding the breath for just a moment, begin exhaling slowly through the nose so as to force the air out in the same sequence in which you inhaled it. First, draw in the outer wall of the abdomen, pressing the lower ribs together and lower- ing the collarbone and shoulders. Press the abdominal and rib muscles together in such a manner that as little air as possible remains. Do all these movements in a relaxed manner. There should be no sense of straining, nor should you prolong this type of breathing for very long at first. The first few days, do it for only a minute or two, increasing the time slowly as it becomes easier and more automatic. It is by breathing in this deep, rhythmical manner that we charge the bloodstream with extra amounts of the vital essences from air that are necessary for the Alchemical process. There is also effected a gentle massage on all the interior organs that is most beneficial to our general health and well being. The intonations and chants we will be doing together are a part of magical breath control. Right now I want to give you some definite instructions in the art of Chanting, so you will be able to do it as ef- fectively as possible. We will practice correct intonation with the four Hebrew Divine names. As I mentioned earlier, from now on we will begin all our meditational periods with these four intonations. As you inhale deeply in preparation for intoning all four of these Divine Names, visualize yourself as taking in pure, vibrant, white light. The Divine Names, remember, are attributed to the Archetypal World. We place ourselves under the highest level of guidance when we pro- perly intone these Divine Names. You are an instrument for intensi- fying and concentrating the pure, vibrant, white light, the light that unites all the hues, all the variations of color. As you intone the Divine (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 4 Names you are distributing this white light, this vibrating Divine energy. to all of life. Image the light first filling your own vehicle — for as you distribute, remember, your body is an aspect of your environment. It is Part of that which you are uplifting and expanding with the vibrations you channel. Pause between each intonation to visualize this light flowing through your body, your aura, the room you are in; see it fill the room. to capacity and then stream out into the atmosphere to all points of the compass, lighting the world. Start with Eheyeh (eh - eh - hay - ehhhh) on the sequence of notes E-C-F-C. Inhale deeply as instructed above so that the whole chest cavity is filled with air. As you begin intoning Eheyeh, slowly, slowly release the breath, holding the final syllable 'eh’ until you have pressed out every bit of air by pulling in your abdomen. Be careful not to let air out through the nose when intoning as this will shorten the length of your intonation, With Eheyeh the emphasis is slightly on the hay. Proceed with Yod - hay - waw- hay on the sequence F- C- C#-C. Emphasis is more or less equal on the yod and waw. Hold the final hay as long as possible while pressing out all the air by pulling in the abdomen. The record, "A Qabalistic Service", which can be obtained by writing to Headquarters if you do not already have it, will help you to get the knack of the correct sounds Now intone Elohim on the sequence E- F#- C- F- G# (aye - low- hee-ce-mmmm). There is a slight emphasis on the second syllable. At the end you hold the hum sound of the letter m as long as possible. This may be difficult at first, but as you continue it will become easier. It is an important part of the vibrating quality of this Divine Name. Finish this practice by intoning Adonai (ah- doh - nah - eee) on the sequence E-F#-G-F. The emphasis is on the third syllable slightly. Again hold the final syllable as long as possible until all the air is pressed out. Remember that none of this is to be done with any violence or undue pressure. The air is let out slowly, easily and as smoothly as possible. Watch so that you do not let out too much air at the begin- ning of the intonation. Control it by letting out only a little at a time. ‘As you continue practicing, your intonation will become more and more lengthened. After you get the knack of the intoning, keep your attention on the visualizations. Eventually the vibratory energy you will feel throughout your body will be unmistakable. The visualization we have given you with the Divine Names in this lesson will be expanded as we continue with this course. For now, practice until you can breathe in and intone out as smoothly and confidently as possible. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Five (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) The Stone of the Wise is a symbol of the completion of the Great Work. To confect the Stone is to complete the highest bodily center, located near the top of the head. Within this center is what the Alche- mists call brain sand. This actual substance is caused to form into a distinct pattern by the alchemical proc ‘The fusion of this 'sand' forme into a sort of cube or crystal that acts like the crystals used in early radio receiving sets. The special crystal-like apparatus is able to receive and register the highest levels of spiritual consciousness. In the Qabalistic method of occult training we are learning to use the planetary and cosmic energies in ways that will complete this organ of spiritual vision and cause the physical body to become a receiving apparatus for the higher consciousness. This is what we are working toward as we begin this more intensive use of the vibratory powers of Qabalah. ‘The compression of the universal evolutionary energy has been symbolized in all the wisdom teachings as a coiled-up serpent. Within personality this coiled-up energy is your specific area of the power of cohesion; the power that is behind the entire evolutionary proces ‘This coiled serpent power or Saturn energy must be brought into ac- celerated activity and then, in a controlled and disciplined manner, made to rise through the other centers in the body until it reaches the highest center, where it makes concrete the crystal that leads to a Permanent ability to tune in on higher levels of consciousness. As we work and practice with Key 21 we are calling forth the highest and most positive vibrations of this energy. With our medita- tions we will be bringing it out of its mostly latent state in a controlled manner, so that the power it holds coiled and waiting can impre! higher vibrations into our personality. We will be releasing cohesive energy so that it can form new patterns (more rapidly than in natural evolution) which are able to receive vibrations {rom the highest spiritual planes. As you know from earlier courses, we energize the Saturn cen- ter first by intonations and visualizations. Then symbolically we put the subsequent transformations under the dominion of the Ego in Tipha- reth. We take this coiled-up Kundalini, which holds the coneretizing Principle, to the Sun Center, where the love energy of the universe enters into our individualized aura. By so doing we put all subsequent building under the dominion of the Higher Self. We do this before we energize the Mars Center, Key 16. The fiery Mars energy must be awakened with care and understanding so as to avoid over-stimulation of the physical organs of sex. From there we activate the Solar Plexus Center associated with qa) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 5 Jupiter and Key 10. This is the abdominal brain wherein records of Past patterns and knowledge are stored. As we continue with the rhythmic beat of this ritual of awakening, we arouse the Venusian throat Center, bringing our higher emotions and imaginative faculty into increased activity. The activation of the Moon Center, associated with Key 2, brings about the glandular balance and higher integration of forces that is an essential aspect of the alchemical proce: Finally we reach the highest center in the head, associated with Key 1 and the pineal gland. As we upgrade and accelerate the frequency of the energies that play through all the centers, the rising Saturnine energy holds and makes the accelerated activity relatively permanent. What I want you to grasp at this point is that the accelerated, balanced activity of the centers could not be made manifest through our personality complex without the compressive, concretizing Binah-Saturn energy. Through it we can hold the essences of experiences and wisdom. That is why Saturn is known as the Great Teacher. Without this limiting, discip- lining energy nothing we experienced would be registered. The highest expression of the limiting principle related to Saturn is symbolized by Binah, the Great Mother and source of all Understanding. Binah corresponds to the power to preserve knowledge. The understanding of Binah is the result of compression and limitation of the wisdom of Ghokmah. At the level of the Divine Triad the pure spiritual energy of Chokmah is brought into focus and nurtured into manifest expression by the concretizing power of Binah. The Great Mother clothes archetypal ideas in form through compression and limitation. This same power is a part of human personality. Its highest expression in human development is that whereby patterns of receptivity to intuitional guidance are formed within the personality. Remember, Divine intuition is received by us through a prepared channel. This prepared channel of influence is what we are building with the use of the vibratory powers of Qabalah. Among the Minor Tarot, the Queen and 3 of Wands symbolize this primal concretizing activity as it expresses in the world of arche- types. In Atziluth the limiting principle of the Great Mother has to do with the stream of descending influence whereby lesser centers of consciousness are shaped into forms by higher ones. In this shaping process the concretizing energy is ever at work. The Queen of Wands is one symbol for this flow of influence from Neshamah, the Divine Spirit in Binah. Neshamah, npw3, in the Magical Language is 395, which is also the number of ha-shahmen, you a1, the oil. The influence from Neshamah is an actual substance flowing through the 32 Paths. The Precious Oil is called illuminating material; thus it is akin to the Sattva Guna or Mercury principle, known ‘0 the illumination material or substance of wisdom. 395 is also the number of shemonah, 71300, eight, a word associated with the esoteric doctrine of the octave. The Divine influence which flows down to the (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 5 conscious mind is effected by a vibratory correlation related to the octave in mu: The correlation of vibratory energies that we do in our techniques is a means for bringing us into attunement, by a sequence of octaves, with the highest levels of Divine consciousness. The triangular formation of the 3 of Wands suggests much we have previously learned related to the number 3. It has been called the number of creation and the perfect logos of unity. Note also that Shab- bathai, *xn3v, Saturn, is 713, which is also the number of teshubah, a310n, return to God, return, recur. It is the power of Shabbathai to restrict, concentrate and limit that holds and preserves wisdom and love in substance so that it can be continuously r. lied. Thus it is the actual means through which on Tallows the Way of Eetarn. TECHNIQUE In our meditation and correlation of color and sound vibrations for this lesson we will include the Queen of Wands and the 3 of Wand: together with Key 21, the blue-violet color card, and the Akasha-akasha symbol. In this way we will be relating the vibratory power of Saturn to the archetypal or Atziluthic principles with which it correlates. This will be the procedure we will follow in our vibratory correlations with all of the Interior Stars. We will relate the energy involved to each of its four worlds or levels of expression. This should help you compre- hend its influence on each one of the planes of awareness. Begin this week's meditational practice by placing before you Key 21, the Akasha-akasha symbol and the Queen and 3 of Wands. Use the blue-violet color card, for this is primarily a work with the Saturn energy. The first thing we are going to do is establish a good rhythm of deep, total breathing. Put your attention on your breathing for a short time. See that it is as deep, rhythmic and sustained as is comfortable for you. After you have established your breathing, intone the four Divine Names as outlined in a previous lesson. Now take some time to absorb the symbolism of the five symbols before you. Look first at Key 21, for it corresponds to all expressions of the finitizing Saturnine energy. Look next at the elliptic form of the Akasha-akasha symbol, representative of the vibratory basis of the finitizing energy. The triangular formation of the 3 of Wands also suggests a great truth about the interchange of energies and their pro- portions that underlies all form. The Queen of Wands is a symbol of the Divine flow of substance, which holds the higher love and wisdom, from the plane of the Supernals, Now visualize yourself as the World Dancer in Key 21, surrounded and saturated with fluidic blue-violet light. It is cosmic substance; there is naught anywhere but blue-violet light. You are one with the cosmic substance which holds the ever available love from the Mother. As you breathe in the blue-violet light see yourself becoming permeated with an (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 5 intensification of the substance of intuition from the Divine Soul. Breathe in her love, her guidance, her sustenance. | Now begin chanting Ah-00-ooom on the note A-natural. Intone it three times, making it as full, as resonant, as prolonged as you comfortably can, You are the condensed spiritual substance of God expressing in a specialized manner for a certain period of time. You are one with the Center that expresses through the boundaries of form, symbolized by the four creatures in Key 21. The oval in which you are centered is your individualized boun- dary of seeming separation. It is really a boundary of protection, for it is the womb of the Mother wherein the Christ consciousness is nur- tured and loved and grown until it is ready for its birth of awareness within human personality. The whirling spiral you hold in your left hand is identical to the contracting energy that winds up undifferentiated conscious energy for individualized expression. The one in your right hand is identical to the expanding energy that unwinds the bound-up conscious energy so that it can return to awareness of its source. (Meditation) As you remain united with the World Dancer say to your- self in essence: ‘The limitations of life are the means for my growth and release from illusion. The forms of this world preserve the understanding of the Mother. She gives me the beauty of variation, through proportion, through harmony, through motion. The Divine finitizing energy works through me to hold, to integrate, to preserve the higher wisdom ever more fully in my personality. "The Archetypal plane is an inner chamber of my Temple. I reside there now and always have. Its continuous influence is fashioning my mind, my emotions and my physcial vehicle in the image of its perfect wisdom. The power of Saturn preserves this influence in my thoughts, in my emotions and into the very cells of my body." Now stand up and stretch your arms high over your head. Make it a full, complete stretch to help you return to your personality self. Continue by tensing and relaxing the muscles all over your body. To do this, focus your attention on each area of your body, tense the muscles a little, and then relax them. Start with the feet and tense and relax all the way up to the top of the head. This serves to pre the higher vibrations into your several vehicles of expense, as bring you back to full, conscious awareness of the physical plane. ‘This procedure should be followed in connection with all the medita~ tional practices outlined in this course. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Six (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) The Saturn Center is where the energy that correlates with all the stages of cosmic evolution is stored. Herein is the power, the remembrance of all past eons through which we, as a human vehicle and a human consciousness, have evolved. This ‘eons of power! and ‘knowledge of formation’ is what we arouse from latency when we awaken the Saturn Center. That is why we must be aware of the need for control and caution. Control is a most important aspect of all occult methods for accelerating spiritual development. In natural man the Saturn energy is under compression and, through the limitations of the present level of human development, is held mostly inactive and latent. When we begin to release it and accelerate its activity we must utilize the very limitation it represents to keep it under control as we work to develop the physical and psychical instruments that can handle the increased power. With most dabblers in occult lore, their main protection is their inconsistency in practice and lack of enough driving will to do themselves or their physical vehicles much harm. But there are some who manage to arouse the energy with drugs or ignorant practices be~ fore they have built the channels within that control and direct its up- ward climb. Thus it can damage brain cells and upset glandular activity, leading them into a distorted, unbalanced awareness of astral levels that often drives them into insanity. The World Dancer in Key 21 depicts control. In perfecting a dance, it is the control of every muscle and motion through limitation, discipline and reiteration that finally stabilizes the performance to where the particular motions no longer need be kept in conscious re~ membrance. They flow in rhythmic beauty with apparent ease, and the performer of the dance seems quite free from many of the usual re~ strictions of the physical body. We use this same principle in our practices. Through limitation, discipline and reiteration we begin to stabilize higher responses in our emotions, thoughts and bodily activities. When the performance has been perfected we will find ourselves free of many of the restrictions and limitations that bind the conscious perceptions of natural humanity. In the Creative World of Briah, the Queen and 3 of Cups corres pond to the sphere of activity for the Saturn energy. Here the restrictive energy is the means whereby abstract mental concepts, akin to mathe~ matical formulas, are brought into more concrete and intelligible form so that they can be apprehended by the personal mind. Thus the limiting energy expresses in the mental substance of Briah as the means for . bringing abstract seed ideas into some kind of mental form. Remember a) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 6 in this connection that on the plane of Briah, mental images are things. ‘They are composed of mental substance just as things in this world are composed of physical substance. Abstract ideas are solidified or con gealed into mental images or thought forms by the concentration of energy through acts of close attention. Creative thinking has little practical value unless imitation of scope is adhered to. Creative imagery, to be more than mere day- dreaming, must be given power through restriction, condensation and reiteration. Saturn represents not only that which establishes definite boundaries of scope, but also that which brings things to completion. Here in the Briatic world it expresses as that quality which restricts the flow of mental images to give them manifesting power. ‘The substance of Briah is the water of the Great Sea of Binah. It is identical to the substance of thought. The control and direction of thought, which is applied through concentration, causes thie substance to begin taking form in whirlpools and vortexes of compressed energy. The restrictive principle on the mental plane is also the means whereby the inner nature of anything is revealed tous. Key 12, The Hanged Man, associated with water, is a symbol of this use of restric- tion. Note that he is suspended from the letter Tav. The Hanged Man personifies a perfected Adept; one who has become an unobstructed channel for the Life-power. The Tav from which he is suspended in- timates that he became such a channel by restricting the flow of per- sonal consciousness. He knows that to unite with the One Self and par- take of the higher consciousness one must restrict the wandering, associative activities of the stream of mental images By holding his attention, undiverted, on one idea, one thought, one image, he is using the Saturnine compressive energy to make @ single image 80 powerful and intense that he becomes identified with it. When he becomes identified with the central essence of the thing under contemplation, its inner nature is revealed to him. The inner nature of all things is identical to the inner nature of everything else. ‘At the Center all things are one. When we manage to restrict the per- sonal mind by means of one-pointed concentration, we become one with that Inner Reality. We then have first-hand conviction that we are an instrument or vehicle for the One Self. With Jesus we can say, "Of myself Ican do nothing", because we know that all seeming personal actions, thoughts and emotions are really specialized expressions of that One Reality. ‘Thus the method of transmutation we are practicing in these lessons includes methods that will help us gain control over the images and thoughts that occupy our attention. The use of Tarot gives us positive images on which to concentrate. For instance, if we find our attention dwelling on resentments, worries or unlovely thoughts about others, we can change the direction of our thinking by calling one of these magical symbols to mind. This is why it is of utmost importance (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 6 to have the Tarot images so much a part of us that they are always available to bring before our mental gaze. ‘The vibratory correlations we will do together in this lesson will help attune us to the positive expressions of the Saturn energy in the realm of mental creation. You should begin finding it easier to bring abstract concepts into more understandable form and to establish patterns of control over the stream of mental images that will begin revealing the inner nature of things to you. The Hanged Man is in a state of higher awareness because he has restricted and inhibited the flow of personal thought processes. When we succeed in doing this we make ourselves a channel for the Higher consciousness. This is the union of the personal consciousnes: with the Universal; this is the Stone of the Wise. We can have many lesser experiences of this union before we reach the final culmination in the complete reversal pictured by the Hanged Man. We are working toward this union in its full perfection by applying the Saturnine re- strictive energy to the constant flow of mental substance, The Queen of Cups symbolizes the influence of Neshamah on the creative plane. She sits surrounded by the Great Sea of mental sub- stance offering Her glorious treasures to anyone who learns to hold his mental gaze steadily on any one of Her infinite forms until he sees Her as she really is and knows that by giving up the little droplet he will embrace the whole sea. The 3 of Cups symbolizes the water of undifferentiated mental energy being held in form by the Creative Word. Binah in Briah relates to the concretizing of abstract ideas that makes them understandable to the conscious mind. Binah, 7373, in the magical language is the num- ber 67. This is also the number of zalal, 91, vibration. Here is a relationship between the boundaries of separation and vibratory power. The boundaries are but different rates of vibration in the Great Sea. The seeming separations of one form from another are really but varia- tions of vibration in the One Universal Substance. Zain, 1?1, the letter name, is also 67. To attune to the higher vibrations within that Great Sea we must first gain understanding of the differences and distinctions therein. The return to Unity on a higher arc, which is the perfection of the Great Work, is a return that comes through differentiation, distinction and form. To be a conscious instru- ment for supereonsclousness we must prepare ourselves with the sharp sword of Zain, so that we are able to discern just what forms will best further the causes of evolution in this world of apparent separation and distinction. TECHNIQUE, For the attuning of our consciousness to the influence of the Saturn energy in the higher creative world of Briah, include the Queen and 3 of Cups with Key 21, the Akasha-akasha symbol and the blue- violet color card. We are opening our consciousness to a deeper under- (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 6 standing of the influence of the compressive, concretizing energy in the mental realm. Begin, as usual, with deep breathing, keeping your attention on it until your breath control becomes prolonged and rhythmical. Now look at the five symbols before you. The 3 of Cups suggests the recep- tion of wisdom; that which holds and shapes the influence from the three Supernals so that it can be comprehended by the personal consciousnes ‘The Queen of Cups portrays the Divine Soul at the Center. She reveals herself to us when we succeed in stabilizing the fluctuations of the mind. Now visualize yourself as the central figure in Key 21, per~ meated with blue-violet light. As you continue visualizing yourself at the center of the Great Sea of universal mental substance, put your attention on the concreti- zing of some abstract concept which has seemed to evade you. Reach for a flash of understanding about the way the Saturnine energy expres~ ses on the creative plane. Continue reaching for inspiration as you hold the image of yourself as the Dancer in Key 21, Your breathing should be rhythmical and prolonged. Starting with this lesson we are going to complete each vibratory practice period with a synthesizing meditation in which we will visualize all the colors. This will serve to keep us from getting out of balance or over-stimulated in one direction as we work with each Interior Star through the Four Worlds. Place all seven of the color cards, representing the seven cen- ters, before you: blue-violet, orange, red, violet, green, blue and yellow. Take time to absorb these color images. Breathe them in as you continue with your deep rhythmical breathing. For the purposes of this meditation do not put your attention on any one color individually. After looking at the seven basic color cards, try to visualize them as a rainbow in motion, flowing and streaming through you. With every in- breath see yourself taking in the light energy of this rainbow of colors. On the out-breath flow out the colors from the center of your being, filling your body, your aura and your environment. The Universal Light emanates from us as an overflow. We pour it out to make room. for more. During this synthesizing meditation play some beautiful, inspira- tional music if you can. Soft, harmonious music without words will help lift your consciousness and attune it to the reception of intuitional gui- dance. Pause to think of your thoughts, your emotions and your body being flooded with this rainbow of light. (Meditation) Then reach to God as you say: (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 6 "© Thou Lord of Light, of vibrant reds and vivid oranges; of awakening yellows and soothing greens and blues; of deepening violets — permeate me with Thy Wisdom and Love. Oh Lord of Sound, of joyful melodies and soaring chords; of dynamic tones and quieting harmonies — let me be one with Thy Center and also with Thy multiplicities. ‘Thou alone art the fountain from which spring all inspiration, all wisdom, all light. Fill me with the brilliance of Thy rainbow that I may send Its love and beauty to all creatures." Now lift up your arms to receive the colors into yourself. Once again intone the four Divine Names as you receive all the colors. Feel the rainbow of colors flow like gentle liquid waves through and through you, and then flow them out from your heart — up! down! forwards! backwards! right! left! to the six directions of the Cube of Space. Finish this meditation and all subsequent ones by tensing and relaxing the muscles all over your body in order to stabilize the higher vibra- tions and also to awaken you to full consciousness on the plane of name and form. ## (5) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Seven (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) ‘The Saturn aymbol, Key 21, portrays the expanded state of cosmic consciousness. We arrive at that exalted state through con- centration and restriction. To expand the limits of our individuality we first set definite boundaries within which we can work. Any expan- sion is the result of initial contraction because contraction winds up energy, intensifying it, so that it can propel us outward and upward. Jupiter, Key 10, the planet of expansion, is the polar opposite and complement of Saturn, Key 21. In the symbolism of their spheres of activity on the Tree you can see how they act and react upon one another. The sphere of activity of Jupiter is the Measuring Intelligence of Chesed. Measuring has to do with setting boundaries, a distinctly Saturnine quality. Likewise, the sphere of Saturn is Binah, seat of understanding, which is certainly an expansion and elaboration of Feasoning. Through a concentration of mental energy within, we build a living channel which unites us consciously with the ALL. Then the boundaries which seem to separate us from God and from each other are seen to be only temporary necessities of the evolutionary process ‘The four fixed signs of the zodiac, pictured on Keys 21 and 10, refer to the fixed boundaries which eventually lead us to the heights of ex- panded awarenees. The boundaries are really imaginary. They are similar to the division of the heavens into the signs of the zodiac. They are there for our instruction. We sharpen our faculties and our wits by working within the limitations of specific rules and laws. The boundaries do not lock us away from each other or from the total substance of cons~ ciousness, for they are really but whirlpools of motion within the Great Sea. Dwell upon this image of yourself as a whirlpool of composite energies within the Great Sea of Binah, Eventually you will know that all seeming differences are expressions of your Larger Self. Thus Key 21 is a symbol of the completion of the Great Work. When your personal consciousness is united to the One Identity at the core of ALL, you have perfected the Stone of the Wise and completed the Great Work. Saturn in Alchemy is associated with the metal called lead. In $rSinary chemistry, lead is the metal that can intercept or block the oe of Very Bigh frequency energies and vibrations. To form a habit pattern of automatic receptivity to higher planes takes time and repetition to establish, as does the forming of any habit pattern. Saturn is the force that gives substance and reproductive power to the abstract truths we catch glimpses of in high moments of medita- tion. Thus in Yetzirah it gives manifesting power and stability to men- tal concepts we may formulate on the Briatic level. The 'point of truth’ received from higher planes of wisdom must be expanded and elaborated in the worlds below so that we can act out its truth in the emotional relationships and activities of incarnate existence. In practical work the Kundalini energy is an aid to helping you to form patterns of self-discipline and control over your physical body, your emotional reactions and your mental images. These are related to your physical, astral and mental vehicles. By learning to identify your center of 'I' consciousness with the Ego in Tiphareth, the Saturn energy becomes the means through which you exercise this conscious control. The Queen and 3 of Swords symbolize the sphere of the activity of Saturn in Yetzirah. In Briah above, the images are more closely attuned to the archetypal seed principles of Atziluth. It is in Yetzirah, the Formative World — where the unfinished creative consciousness of human personality is active and dominant — that distortions and errors can set in. The worlds above Yetzirah do not hold false doc- trines. ‘Thus it is in Yetzirah that the Saturn power of limitation has become associated with misery, lack and frustration. Here the power of concretion and multiplication are under the dominion of man's pre- dominant images and desires. In one sense the Formative World cor- responds to the subconsciousness of man. Here the finitizing power does not have the ability to discriminate. False ideas are formed in the Yetziratic substance just as readily as are true ones. The pre- dominant images, based on what man thinks is true, determine the patterns. Thus the limiting, finitizing energy on the plane of Yetzirah is the agency whereby false doctrines can take actual form in the astral substance. These are the patterns of error and misconceptions about appearances, pictured in Key 15, that bind us to sorrow and misery. Note that Key 15 relates to Capricorn, a sign ruled by Saturn. The practices we will be doing in relation to the Saturn energy as it expresses in Yetzirah should help us to develop the ability to grasp the inner meaning of surface appearances. Most of the unhappy appear ances and circumstances in Assiah are the result of the ignorant shapes formed in the Yetziratic substance by long ages of distorted human ima- gery. Eventually the Yesod level of Yetzirah will be freed from these forms that are no longer beneficial to the evolutionary process. Our conscious constructive visualizations are aiding in this dissolution of the old and the re-coagulation into new forms that are more influenced by the higher intuitions we receive from above. (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 7 We must remember, however, that the substance of Yetzirah is really no different from that of the higher planes. The vibratory rate is slower and more subject to the thoughts and images originating at the personality levels of man, but the substance itself is the Divine Mother principle, forever pure and undefiled, no matter how distorted the shapes may be in which she is temporarily held captive. The patterns of evil and pain will disappear when the collective consciousness of humanity no longer feeds them with attention and assent. Although these ignorant patterns are but temporary forms in the larger framework of human evolution, they do have actual objective existence on the lower levels of the Yetziratic plane. Throughout long ages man has perpetuated them and reproduced them by directing the cohesive Saturn energy to them with his attention. They will continue to influence human beings so long as they have an affinity for them. We have not yet attained to perfect liberation from the influence of these patterns in the collective consciousness. We get caught up in their influence and help perpetuate them whenever we let lower nature responses and negative emotions occupy our attention. Our work is not to ignore evil or to fear it, but to dissipate its influence on ourselves — and eventually on all of humanity — by refusing to respond to it and by giving our attention to the kind of images and ideas that will fashion the One Substance into more positive forms. We may slip into hellish states of mind at times, because we are not yet perfected beings, but as we be: come proficient in Tarot visualization we will soon find it easy to dispel any lapses into negative states by becoming a Tarot image and uniting our personal consciousness with the Central Presence in the Midst. The Queen and 3 of Swords correspond to the sphere of activity for Saturn in Yetzirah. In the magical language the secret name of Yet- zirah is mah, 7p, 45. This is also the number of agiel, 9X72, the intel- ligence of Saturn, and zazal, x11, the spirit of Saturn. 45 is also the number of adam, 071%, man, and ahmad, 7px, to estimate, conjecture, assess. Ahmad is the power whereby man measures and defines. It is a token of the correlation between Binah, 7172, and Zain,7’1, both adding to 67. The understanding of Binah is the fruit of discrimination. It is developed through the distinctions, problems and apparent separations that take place during certain stages of the evolutionary process. Now breathe in the Queen of Swords. She corresponds to the expression of the finitizing energy on the Formative plane, Whether the forms we bring forth are distorted and erroneous, or true reflections of their higher principles, depends upon the discrimination and understanding inherent in our predominant imagery and thinking. | Now visualize yourself as the World Dancer, flooded with blue- violet light. (Meditation) Now say in essence: "Tam flooded with the power that can bring the Holy Influence into manifestation. The fluidic love energy from Neshamah is being incorporated into my being. Iam transformed! The patterns of error which have held me in bondage are changing their shape as this loving influence becomes ever more the guiding light of my existence." Now that you have attuned yourself to the positive expressions of Saturn in the Formative World, begin the synthesizing meditation out- lined in the last lesson. Flood yourself with the rainbow of light. It will balance and coordinate the vibrations related to all the centers of cons~ cious expression within. Flood yourself with the rainbow of light and again intone the four Divine Names. Through these vibratory correlations of visualization and intona- tion we are bringing each Interior Star into harmonious activity with Corollary on all the planes of expression, We are creating a beautiful Chord that resounds throughout the heavens. As we continue particip: ting in these unique group meditations, each Star is gradually accelera- ted in activity to where it is able to register more and more rapid fre- quencies related to the planetary forces. This takes time and the Thythmic application of positive visualizations and vibratory chants. Finish as before with the tensing and relaxing of all the muscles in your body. As we said earlier, this serves to hold the higher ener- in Jand incorporate them into your vehicles of personality. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Eight (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) Now we come to the influence of the Saturnine limiting principle in Assiah, the material world. The way to liberation and true cosmic consciousness is through alert awareness of the things in this world and active participation in the needs of others. This is how we develop the kind of love that prepares us for the inclusive awareness of cosmic consciousness People often have partial experiences of ecstasy and extended awareness which they mistake for true union with Yekhidah. If the ex- periences leave them with the feeling that the everyday world is drab and to be ignored, it is but a delusive psychic thrill or, at best, a lesser level of partial perception. When one has the opened eye of wisdom, which is the fruit of a prepared personality complex, one sees this world right now as of one fabric with all the higher realms that may be ex- Femienced in moments of mystical awareness The freedom we seek is the Crown of the Kingdom. Every frus. tration, disappointment and delay that the Saturn quality has brought into our lives has really been administered by the Higher Self preparing us for true liberation. The Saturn force in Assiah is often seemingly inimi- cal because its restrictive quality can be wrongly applied to where it hinders and inhibits the motion of life. To attempt to hold on to form and halt change creates stagnation. It interferes with the continuous dying and renewal that are so essential to the evolution of consciousness. When we learn to let go of the old without regret, the influence of Saturn in Assiah becomes the means for bringing all things to fulfillment and completion. Thus to truly enlightened eyes, this world is not separate from higher worlds. All the forms of universal power and consciousness are available here and now when one is prepared to utilize them. The Al- chemical art is knowing how and which forms of universal power and consciousness to utilize. To be effective the Alchemical process must alter all the vehicles, including the physical organism. The power of Saturn in Assiah puts us in the situations and gives us the kind of respon- ‘bilities that can reveal cosmic principles to us. To do this is to begin “looking upon every circumstance of my life as a particular dealing of God with my soul." Human personalities are rays or reflections of the One Sun, the Central Ego of the whole human race. Because of our brain and nervous system, we are able to know our own spiritual heritage and also to con: ciously participate in the evolutionary process. Practices, such as those given in this course, help you to become an instrument for bringing forms into being that are in accordance with the Plan of the Universal Self. They prepare the vehicles of personality not only to intercept higher vibratory frequencies, but also to interpret or translate these impulses qa) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 8 into ideas and images that give details of the Cosmic Evolutionary Plan. Unless the organism is prepared, the high tension currents of which I speak would destroy the physical body. When we use the Tarot symbols as we do in our vibratory prac- tices, we actually affect the physiological organic centers associated with the Interior Stars. This present group of techniques is related to the center at the base of the spine. We have been activating and ac- celerating its activity in relation to the four Qabalistic planes upon which it expresses, This is a more intense and effective procedure than we have given out in any of the earlier courses. The synthesizing practice with which we finish each of the techniques serves to keep all the Interior Stars in proper balance and harmony while we are concen- trating on one particular center ‘As we become proficient in these controlled visualizations, we will produce actual formations in the subtle substance of the astral light. The formations which such practices shape are of a quality which will attract conscious living entities of high vibratory frequency into the Held of the forstmality complmc. That aitick canses the accamcintion or gravitation toward the focus or matrix is the finitizing principle. The Saturn quality acts as the stabilizer and preserver of higher plateaus of vibratory activity and receptivity. The Queen and 3 of Pentacles are symbolic of the activity of Saturn in Assiah. Both are also associated with the Magical Earth of the alchemists. There is a sense in which the Magical Earth, the akasha of the Hindus, and the Saturn finitizing property are one and the same. From the Saturn center in our physical organism comes a specific integrating quality which enables us to form an inner channel through which higher celestial forces can enter our individual field of influence. As these higher energies circulate through the body, they increase its retention of vital light energy or chaiah, the life force of Chokmah. ‘When the Saturnine concretizing property is consciously under the dominion of the Higher Self, mental and emotional responses in the personality vehicles begin to reflect this guidance. However, the trans- formation is complete only when the physical body itself becomes the Philosopher's Stone; when the union of the personal self with the Higher Self is a physical fact in a consciously unified personality instrument. This conscious and abiding identification with the Central Reality is called the Philosopher's Stone because when one knows the mineral kingdom as the truly wise perceive it, one knows that it is the basis for all form manifestation throughout the universe. To see the mineral kingdom as it really is, is to understand all else. The whole work of liberating consciousness is dependent upon knowing and understanding how to use compression; how to volatilize a too static expression and how to congeal a too diffused one. Through man, the Central Self influences lower levels of cons- cious matter to bring them to perfection. When one begins to see the (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 8 true line from cause to effect, one also sees that the mineral kingdom is of the same fundamental substance as are the thoughts and feelings ofman. Thoughts are condensed energy. All matter is condensed energy. Stones are condensed energy. The stuff physical bodies are composed of is this same concentration of Limitless Light. The laws that manifest in physics and chemistry are really mental laws. All aspects of the environment are but divisions of the One Life; and be- cause the conscious awareness of environmental phenomena is akin to, but less than, that of man, all are subject to control by the self- consciousness of man. ‘The symbolic grade of Master of the Temple, associated with Binah, is applied to one who has gained complete mastery over the energies that make up the physical body. The mastery of subtle ener- gies must become patterned or held in the substance of the physical body before it is complete and stabilized. This mastery is a mastery of physical phenomena. By upgrading our instrument of expression we improve our performance as an instrument through which the One Ego can administer dominion over the appearances taken by the living conscious substance of the matter aspect of the One. TECHNIQUE. For the visualization and intonation with Saturn in Assiah, place the Queen and 3 of Pentacles before you, together with Key 21 the blue-violet color card, and the Akasha~akasha symbol. Begin as always with deep rhythmic breathing and the intonation of the four Divine Names. When you feel that you have established a definite inner rhythm, put your attention on the symbols before you. Breathe in the vibratory impact of the 3 of Pentacles. It is related to the Magical Earth. This is the magical power to integrate, to manifest, to glorify. It is the capacity for integration apart from the manifesta~ tion of any form. In essence it is one with the Radiant Darkness of the 3 Veils of the Absolute: Ain, Ain Suph and Ain Suph Aur. The blue- violet, indigo and black associated with expressions of Saturn and Binah all suggest this dark, radiant womb of manifestation. Now breathe in the Queen of Pentacles. She is Binah in Assiah. Astrologically she is related to Key 5 and Taurus, which depict the formative powers of sound. Now image yourself as the figure in Key 21. You should find this easier and more natural by this time. From the center of your being begin emanating blue-violet light in all directions. Radiate the blue-violet substance outward to the four creatures in Key 21. They represent the elemental forces active in the material world. Their interplay forms the living substance of your physical body. Thus they surround you and protect you and form the fertile soil in which the Rose of Beauty, the Ego consciousness, is brought to perfect expression in human personality. Proceed with the synthesizing practice to harmonize and balance all the vibratory energies, then finish with the tensing and relaxing In the next group of lessons we will begin awakening the center of love within the heart; the Sun Center whose sphere of activity is Tiphareth, the central point on the Tree of Life. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Nine from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) Pi ‘The Sun Center in our Vehicle is the Interior Star associated with the heart. Key 19 is the Tarot symbol for the solar energy which expresses through our personality as awareness of '' consciousness. The practices we will outline with Key 19 ax the central symbol will help us to become more and more consciously influenced by the One Reality which is the core of every human life Continuous practice is of utmost importance. We must act out the fact that human personality is a chanuel for the highest creative powers. In Qabalah, personalities whu are aware of their union with the One Reality are called Beni ha Elohim, Sons of the Elohim. This name refers to the perfect expression of this realization in every thought, response and act. A son (or daughter) of the Elohim is an- other title for a member of the Fifth Kingdom of advanced humanity. The heart center is the subtle center wherein this direct super- conscious 'I! awareness enters into the field of personal expression. Its vibratory correlation in the light range is the color orange. Its ‘note! in the range of sound vibration is D. With the continued use of these aids to receptivity we are attuning ourselves to take in the higher range levels of the solar consciousness. The highest work of the per~ sonal ego is to establish conscious, continuous receptivity to the One Ego in Tiphareth, and through this union comes the higher awareness of union with the One Reality in Kether. Itis this solar energy, when. we become attuned to its highest frequencies, that will give us Siret- hand knowledge that our life is being lived through our personality by that One. The Sun is associated with the Rebirth into the Fifth Kingdom because the regenerated consciousness is a conscious awareness that the Son, Ben, in Tiphareth, is the only 'I' that there is. Furthermore, the Alchemical Process, which prepares the personality for this Re- birth, must be initiated at the self-conscious level by an act of intention which is related to the personai expression of solar consciousness The Children in Key 19 typify the birth of this higher awareness within the ring of temporal existence. Jesus said, "Except ye become as a little child ye shall in no wise enter the Kingdom." This is the Fifth Kingdom of perfected humanity. To enter into that level of know- ing must be preceded by a childlike freedom from what the world thinks is true. It implies an eager desire to understand the deeper meaning of appearances from a fresh point of view, unsullied by preconceived ideas based on worldly delusion. This awakening to the true source of 'I' consciousness is sym- bolized by children because it is the result of a type of innocence and trust that we associate with the small child in relation to its parents. a) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 9 This is not the innocence of ignorance or lack of experience, but the innocence of simplicity and the open heart, eager and able to receive guidance. A young child has not yet been altogether conditioned by the many erroneous ideas about the meaning of physical existence that are the mark of the so-called sophisticate or worldly wise. A small child has not yet become the slave of habit patterns; has not yet become hypnotized by what the world has to say about the vagaries of human nature. To be reborn, one must recapture the clear, unpatterned consciousness of the child, ready to be impressed with higher cons- ciousness. ‘Thus the children symbolize a freedom from mass mind ideas and patterns of thinking and response that so condition and bind most of humanity. To enter the Fifth Kingdom is to repudiate, as the gesture of the little girl indicates, automatic response based on the delusion of separateness. When the girl (subconsciousness) is so freed, then her childlike purity, like an unmarked slate, can be impressed with the higher energy of love and union streaming from the solar orb in the form of the thirteen orange yods. The work of clearing subconsciousness begins with a self- conscious intention to live from the heart. The boy must also partake of the unifying love energy. His gesture towards the wall of sense experience implies that he accepts them as but partial truths and is ready to search behind the veil for the full reality. One of the most effective ways to prepare our consciousness for Rebirth is to begin looking for the beauty, harmony and symmetry of life everywhere. By looking into appearances, conditions and other human beings from a fresh point of view, we will enter into a new world. A child has wonder and an unpretentious, open desire to know, to find out. His curiosity is artless and natural. His appreciation of little beauties and activities is bright, alert and absorbed. He i eager to see more, know more, hear more. Is this not the opposite of the jaded, worldly experienced sophisticate who thinks he has seen 1, knows all and is convinced that life is a burden and human nature is essentially selfish, evil and depraved? This is the childlike innocence we need to develop. True inno- cence is a freedom from the hypnotic spell of errors long perpetuated and recharged by most of humanity. So long as anyone thinks it is = mark of intelligence and sophistication to be aware of all the worst in his fellow man, he will certainly be unable to partake of the higher love energy that enters into our personal field of influence through the cen. ter in the heart. To be able to attune to this energy of regeneration have at least grasped the idea of the unity of fe intellectually. This conscious assent to the idea is what opens us to the high frequency energies that will eventually give us first-hand knowledge that it is true. Be sure to proceed with visualizing the rainbow of colors as out- lined in an earlier lesson, accompanied, if possible, by beautiful soft Finish with the tensing and relaxing that integrate the energies # music into your body and bring you back into full physical plane awarene: 6) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH . Lesson Ten (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) Within our body the heart is the center of our conscious life, just as the sun in the solar system is the center around which the motions of the other planets revolve. The sphere of influence for the Sun is the Mediating Intelligence of Tiphareth, where it receives the emanations from the higher Sephiroth and 'steps them down! or cools their rapid frequencies so that they can be received by the Sephiroth below. In our mental creative life the Sun Center acts as such a medi- ator. On the Briatic plane it is the reception center for the higher mental images. Tiphareth, sphere of activity for the Sun, is the seat of our ability to participate in a stream of mental images. When human consciousness becomes actively receptive to the Briatic level of crea- tivity, new creations and innovations are reflected into the conscious mind. Man is the way that higher creative ideas are brought into mani- festation. The ego consciousness of man has the ability to translate these more or less abstract images into tangible form through the dis- tinguishing, classifying, interpreting faculty of waking consciousness ‘This might be compared to a lowering or cooling of their rate of vibration. ‘The practice included in this lesson will help us to become re~ ceiving instruments for these higher images. We want to attune our ingly personal creative thinking so that it can receive from the iatic level. This means that we must continuously acknowledge the truth that all such creative ideas are received by us, not originated by us. | The Knight and 6 of Cups are symbolic of the solar consciousness in Briah. The Knight of Cups is a symbol of the personality complex centered in Tiphareth as it expresses in Briah. It is the solar energy streaming from higher planes which is transformed through human per~ sonality into the self-conscious awareness which gives man his sense of individuality on the planes of name and form. When we become more conscious of the true source of our egoic feeling, our whole expression begins to be refined and sensitized. This refinement is what eventually perfects human consciousness and leads to Rebirth into the Fifth King- dom. The transforming power is the energy that streams to us from the sun, and which we receive into our vehicles through the heart center. The arrangement of the units in the 6 of Cups portrays the self- consciousness of man as a receiver, like a vessel, of Supernal creative energies which he then ‘turns toward earth’ with his mental interpretive Powers into new combinations of form that will serve the processes of evolution. Man is always potentially a reception station for the original creative impulse of the One Reality. But in natural man the reception a) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 10 Tuns like a weak, slow current because it has been transmitted through gons of lives and forms. This weak impulse is made to rise in power and intensity through our vibratory correlations of light and sound with @ppropriate visualization. With these practices we are adjusting our Personal centers to more effective reception of the cosmic currents of creative impulse, causing them to flame with a fresh brightness. ith Ke 1nis is the inner meaning of the word ‘regeneration’ associated with Key 19. When the personal center of receptivity for the creative currents of solar radiance is thus adjusted, one is enabled to handle more intense vibrations of the electric solar power. When we have re- generated our center of reception through persistent practices we will begin to receive impulses from the level of Briah and be able to trans- late or transform them into activities of mind, body and visualization that will lead to our Rebirth into the Fifth Kingdom. This is why one who enters the Fifth Kingdom ia said to be self-generated or self- created. As shown in one of our diagrams with the Tree of Life course (Lesson 7), the Path of Gimel is the diameter of the Creative World. Briah is essentially one with the universal subconscious level related to cosmic memory. Within the creative plane is the self-image of Yekhidah in Kether. It is the image of the Archetypal Adam; the per- fect image of man as Ben, the Son, who is also Melek, the King. This is the image of man as a member of the Fifth Kingdom. This is what man is destined to become in Assiah. This is the image that we are becoming ever more receptive to receiving. By activating the Sun cen- ter within, we are preparing ourselves to intercept the higher vibratory frequencies of solar energy which stream down to us from the Briatic level. Jn Briah the image of the perfected Adam, Ben the Son, is a present reality. We receive only tiny glimpses at first. When we get ‘a glimpse it is up to us to use it as best we can for the level of under- standing we have so far unfolded. We must work to actualize whatever we have comprehended in our every activity and thought. As the quality of our aspiration and unfoldment prepares us to receive and translate yet higher impulses of the creative current from the Sun, the vision of the New Humanity will appear in more and more detail. When we first receive the images they are usually abstract, vague and symbolical. What we receive are the seed images. It is up to us to nurture and develop the seed with unceasing attention to give it the power to manifest in our personality. This means we must control and direct the images, thoughts and desires that we let occupy our field of attention and see to it that they are in accord with the images we have received. If they are harmonious they will have universal as well as personal significance. When we intentionally aspire to concenter our desires with the One Ego, the ideas and images we receive and develop will be in accord with the Great Plan for human evolution. ‘You may well ask, "What is the quality of the Fifth Kingdom () VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 10 consciousness, so that I may begin to emulate it?" It is not really describable in words. To such a one all objects are seen to be naught but solidified spirit, for he knows the process through which spirit is solidified. Gaining dominion over the creation of forms is essentially gaining increased intuitive understanding of the creative process. This knowledge of creation is knowing how to raise the vibratory rate of the forces underlying human existence and thereby becoming an active agent in the transmutation of matter and a conscious participant in the evolutionary process. The beginning is in using this creative ability to renew our own body, mind and emotions to where we can act as a reception station for increasingly more intense energies. Thus, although the consciousness of one who has entered the Fifth Kingdom is not really describable in words, we will begin re- ceiving the first impressions in our practices. They will, as we said earlier, be vague and diffused at first. When we emerge from medita- tion we may doubt their reality with a portion of our intellectual cons~ ciousness. What I want you to know is that when you receive an image of what a perfect personality truly is, it will not be identical with the world's ideas of perfection. Until we are more receptive to that level of solar consciousness we cannot guess the full extent of what it reall is. For the perfected man is a perfected state of conscious awarene: unlike anything we are able to grasp wholly until we have shared in that consciousness, The solar consciousness of the perfected adept has been described and his powers outlined, yet to share that consciousness is another order of knowing. When we do experience it directly we will know why itis indescribable in any ordinary words. Relative to the reception of the creative energy from Briah, the children in Key 19 symbolize the new images we formulate about the true source and functions of the two modes of personal consciousness. When we are receptive to the higher images of Adam, we will know that the modes of human expression are really transformations of solar cons- ciousness. You are truly a Child of the Sun. We are going to make our self-conscious mind more receptive to these higher intuitive visions through our practice with the Keys related to the Sun Center in Briah. Our liberation is dependent upon our evol- ving a physical body that belongs to a new species. Keep this ultimate object in mind. As we share the meditations which are outlined in this course we are participating in a cosmic process. We are entering into the stream of mental images ever flowing down from the creative plane. ‘When we are attuned to its higher frequencies, we become receptive to the images of our final perfection. TECHNIQUE After establishing deep, rhythmic breathing, intone the four Divine Names. Remember, if it is not always possible to intone out loud, intone these names soundlessly. You are still making an impres- sion in the mental substance if you do it correctly. I haven't mentione’ it before, but along with your Tarot and Tattva symbols it is a goo (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 10 to include a symbol of the Tree of Life. The small one that comes with your Tarot Keys, with the Paths and Sephiroth painted in their appropriate colors, will help you to comprehend the inter-relationships of all the symbols we employ. For this Technique we use the Knight and 6 of Cups, together with the Tejus - Prithivi Tattva and the orange color card. Although we begin with Key 21 and blue-violet, by this time you should be able to visualize them without their actual presence before you. Begin by imaging yourself as the central figure in Key 21, im- mersed in blue-violet light. Permeate yourself with this light as you intone Ah-oo-mm on the note A. This is the infinite, unlimited sub~ stance of Binah, wherein the Saturn quality has its sphere of influence. Now; within the blue-violet ocean of vibrating light, again visualize a point of brilliant orange appearing within your heart. Expand the orange light out and out until you are immersed in it. Look at the symbols be- for you. Like the upper triangle of the 6 of Cups you are a vessel for the reception of the higher creative impulses. Feel your heart area receiving a stream of golden light like a cup, and then overflowing to fill your whole body, your aura, your surroundings — out and out until you fill the universe with the vibrating light from the Sun in your heart. Now breathe in the Knight of Cups. He holds his cup aloft so that it can be filled with the higher radiations from the creative plane. Again feel your heart receiving the liquid flow of solar gold, overflowing and radiating out and out until the universe is filled. Next image your- self as Key 19. Place yourself between the Sun above and the children below. You are the mediator. The Ego within your heart receives the radiations from the One Ego in Tiphareth. Again feel yourself being filled with the fluid gold, until you glow and vibrate with the brilliant light. Now, put your attention on a yearning, intense desire to receive the image of the Son in all His perfection. As you feel the orange light filling you, aspire, yearn to be a vessel for the One. (Meditation): That which Iaspire to be is already a reality in the mind of God. Let'me feel the reality, see the reality; hear the reality, that I may reflect it ever more perfectly in the world of name” and form." Fill them with the radiance that they may eventually be reborn into the Fifth Kingdom. Fill them to overflowing. and them va diate the light out from the children to the sunflowers, filling all the Kingdoms of nature with the light of regeneration. Now pertueate ne wall of sense perceptions with light so that the world of appearancen® will reveal its spiritual essence to you. Everything is filled to overflowing with the radiations of love and union. Again send up a yearning aspiration to receive the images that will lead to regeneration as you intone, three times, Ah-0o-mm on the note D. Perform the visualization with the rainbow of colors to balance and blend the streams of vibratory influence. Remember, if you can play lovely, soft music during this part of your practice the ritual will be all the more effective and enlightening. Finish by tensing and re- laxing the muscles all over your body to help integrate the forces we have activated into your physical body. ## 5) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Eleven (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) All the symbols in Key 19 express aspects of our total individua- lity. When we image ourselves centered in the Sun with the children, the wall, the sunflowers, the ring and the Yods as expressions of our total selfhood, we are developing within personality the image of human perfection which is a present reality on the higher creative plane. The Sun is within us, as you have so often heard. The sunflowers are also within Remembrance of all past evolutionary stages through which the One Life has evolved is part of our total beingness. The wall is within us, for it portrays the sense perceptions which have brought us to the point of individualized awareness. When we awaken their higher counterparts we will experience conscious awareness of higher worlds. The ring in which the children dance is the ring of individuality. The 32 wavy and salient solar rays are the 32 expressions of consciousness which are microcosmic as well as macrocosmic. All these are a part of us. The way that we express them through personality is conditioned by the way we look at ourselves. The inade- quate images we identify with are one of the chief sources of human misery. By identifying the 'I' with the failures and weaknesses of per- sonality we allow ourselves to be limited and bound by them. So many people dwell on the image, for instance, of their unfitness to succeed at anything. Others lament their inability to overcome certain unlovely responses or habit patterns. Even worse, they use this conviction of futility as an excuse for ceasing to try. We all have this problem with our self-image to some extent, at Jeast during certain periods of life. The cause is always based on a_ wrong focus of identity. When we manage to shift the center of identity from too close a relationship with the imperfections of personality, we will find it easier to surrender the ‘little self", no matter what its prob- lems and imperfections, to the guidance of the Higher Self. Ihave often said to people who are beset with depressions and problems that seem to be unbearable, "Reach up to the Higher Self". Itell them to, "Jump up into the Sun and hang on. Hold your attention on a broader vista where the problems of everyday existence will be Seen with a truer perspective. You will then be able to give them only their proper measure of importance." This is a bit of magic in moments of depression. The Higher Consciousness of us is real. This act of imagery and attention makes us receptive to taking a more objective view of any situation in which we have become immersed. It helps us to disentangle our thoughts and imagery from the personal emotional feeling part of our nature. If you will really use this 'reaching to the sun' you will develop q) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 11 ability to view your own personality ae the instrument for that part the aby 2 he oer Or eee et eer pac gona the child of the Higher Self. Eventually you will be able to view every- day situations, no matter how painful, from this higher vantage point and see them as a wonderful opportunity to practice this higher aware- nese. It is particularly important for you as aspirants to learn to do this because the power we intensify in our work will make any lapses into the levels of depression, fear and anxiety so devastating that you will know that you must do something about them. ‘The personality complex as it functions in Yetzirah is pictured in Tarot by the Knight and 6 of Swords. The Knight in his suit of armor is another symbol for the indwellingness of the One Self in the veil or armor of human personality. The activity he suggests is that of the changing scenery of physical existence that is taking us back to cons cious union with the One. The Knight is most particularly the persona- Lity in action. He uses the sword of discrimination to evaluate the situations and problems that are presented to him. When we have learned to give them their proper evaluation and see them as signs of some erroneous pattern stiLsetive in subconsciousness, then we will be open to the influx of higher guidance that will eventually dissolve their influence over our personality expression. The triangular formations in the 6 of Swords depicts the Ego in ‘Tiphareth at the apex of the upper triangle, with Netzach and Hod. forming the lower points. This triangle is reflected into the down- pointing triangle which has Yesod, the automatic consciousness, at the lower point. Netzach and Hod, always interacting with Yesod as well as with Tiphareth, also form the two upper points of the down- pointing triangle. They have a dual activity. The intellectual activities of Hod and the emotional desire nature of Netzach are the result of a synthesis of influences from Tiphareth above and from the Vital Soul below. When the Ego is in rightful control, expressing as Melek, the King, then Netzach and Hod reflect this guidance in higher emotions and creative ideas. Their interactions with Yesod, through the Paths of Resh and Tzaddi, then transform the patterns in the automatic cone- ciousness and Yesod becomes the clear, undistorted reflection of Tiphareth above. Swords are related to air and to the which changes form rapidly under the influences of the ideas andy 3 ima of man. Because this power of human imagery and visualization ie ae ways effective, but rarely understood or controlled by natural man most of the images that he charges with the power of emotional intensity are images of fear, anxiety and expectancy of pain. eally his personal creations any more than are the higher inaeee fem above. | They are part of the ancient patterns of error in Yetzirah which still hold sway in the forms through which we are evolving. While man continues to accept these errors into his pers onti onal level of the vital soul, tae eeguectual deductions, desires and emotional reactions will reflect Yetziratic level of substance (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 11 With the Technique in this lesson we want to form a pattern of our personality as the child of the Higher Self, preparing for Rebirth into the New Humanity. The image and all it implies must become incorporated into our every thought about our- self, our every activity, our every spoken word. Remember, it is the power of suggestion, associated with Key 8, energized by the Sun, which is the actual means through which we bring the unruly aspects of personality under the control of the Sun. By carry- ing this higher identity into our every experience and activity we will be strengthening the new self-image in the most effective way. The princi- ple of suggestion is applied through indirection. By presenting our- selves to others and viewing all experiences and relationships in ways that imply that the real 'I' of us is one with the King in Tiphareth, we will be forming an habitual pattern into which the higher creative sub- stance will flow. We are going to make this suggestion so potent through continuous remembrance that it will wash through all the little images of inadequacy that dim our ability to identify with the True Image we are receiving from Briah. As we visualize with Key 19 we are making a pattern of becoming increasingly receptive to the stream of higher selfhood pic- tured as the solar orb. To overcome any patterns we no longer wish to express we are introducing one powerful pattern that will help us to wash them away. : With this technique we will plant the suggestion in our subcons~ cious mind that our every throught, act, reactions and response to others is to be in accord with the New Image. As we continuously turn to the True Self for guidance we will become so permeated with the energy of Jove and unity that any subconscious patterns based on the delusion of Separateness will be dissolved and their place will be taken by patterns that can hold the higher consciousness. TECHNIQUE For meditation associated with the power of the solar energy in Yetzirah, have ready the Knight and 6 of Swords, together with Key 19, the Tejus - Prithivi Tattva and the orange color card. Begin as always with the deep rhythmic breathing which should be quite regular and sustained by this time. It is through the breath of Life that we take in the higher vibrational energies that are transforming us. Intone the four Divine Names to place all our visualizations and invo- cation of energies under the dominion of the highest plane of spirituality. Now visualize yourself as the central figure in Key 2, permeated with the blue-violet light associated with the Kundalini energy. In this exercise we will symbolically take the patterns of limitation, repre- jented by the Saturn restrictive energy, up to the heart where we will charge them with the Solar radiance. We are placing the formation of mental, emotional and physical patterns of personality under the cons cious guidance of the Ego. @) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 11 Now visualizing yourself as the central figure in Key 21, again feel the orange, vibrating light beginning to expand and radiate from the heart of you. Let it radiate outward until you are permeated and totally immersed in glowing, radiant, living orange light. Feel the light = that of Divine Love, uniting you to the One Self above and to all of ife below. Remain immersed in the vibrating orange light as you look at the symbols before you. The Tejus - Prithivi symbol is a representation of the basic forms that the solar energy takes as it enters into the world of name and form. The 6 of Swords suggests that the Vital Soul is a direct reflection of solar consciousness. The more we feel this, the more un- distorted will become the patterns that influence our personal consciou: ness. The Knight of Swords is the One Ego expressing through persona~ lity and wielding the sword of discrimination to cut away all that is keep- ing Him from returning to conscious union with Yekhidah in Kether. Now visualize yourself in Key 19. You are the whole Key. All the symbols are aspects of your total selfhood. Place yourself within the Sun as the directing center for all the activities of personal existence. ‘Think of the children in this visualization as the desire nature of Netzach and the intellect of Hod. The ring in which the children dance is your Foundation. The sunflowers are the living Kingdoms through which the Life-power is evolving. They are the conscious lives that you, as the mediator for the One, are lifting to higher planes of expression. Now with your consciousness in the solar orb, flow out a stream of golden love from your heart, to the children, to the flowers, to the wall, to the ring. (Meditation) Say to yourself: "Tam one with the light of wisdom. Iam one with the Sun. ‘The changing vehicles through which Lexpress are not the Self. They are my beloved children. They are children of the Sun. Through the influx of love from the Sun they are being perfected through harmony, through proportion, through symmetry into vessels of Beauty and Delight. Isend love to the flowers, to Lift them, to transform them, to perfect them. As I perfect them, I find that their perfection is my perfection." Intone Ah~-0o-mm on the note D three times. Do it silently if you cannot do it aloud. Again feel yourself receiving love from above, filling your heart, and then streaming it out to all the directions of space. Send the light outward to fill the world, washing away the errors, dispelling the patterns of pain and delusion with the brilliance of the gol- den light. Perform the Rainbow of integration to bring all the colors into right relationship and balance; then tense and relax the muscles to pre- serve and hold the light in your physical body. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Twelve (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) The evolutionary advancement of the individual ego must be accomplished on the physical plane. Rebirth into the Fifth Kingdom is the result of a higher, finer, more responsive human body. It is brought to completion by the 'work of the Sun and Moon with the aid of Mercury'. The Sun in Assiah is the outer body or physical representation of the One Ego. Solar energy is transmitted through the infinite forms of Assiah into various degrees of conscious life. The amount of cons- ciousness expressed is dependent upon the form through which the One Life flows. The Moon refers to the subconscious intelligence which has charge of the functions and maintenance of the physical body. The pituitary gland, related to it, is concerned with directing the fluidic forms taken by solar energy as it courses through the veins, lymphatics and nerve channels of the body. When the Moon receives the higher, subtler solar vibrations which enter through the heart, then its dupli- cating, reproductive activities begin to transform the body into the New Image, and the whole personality is enabled to function on a higher level of awareness. The Moon center utilizes the same energy as does the Sun center. The Moon is the Sun at work on the level of body consciousness. This we can see indicated in the Magical Language. The word for Moon Lebanah, 1329. The first two letters form the word laib, 2% heart. The second two letters form Ben,]3, the Son. The last two form nah, 72, beautification. The first three letters form laban, 739, white; the last three spell bawnaw, 133, to build, make, erect. Jn Lebanah we see references to the heart center, to Ben and to Beauty, all associated with the Sun and Tiphareth. Thus is 723% seen to be the reflection of the Sun at the level of the automatic consciousness. 12> and 7123 refer to the 'white work of the moon! wherein this integra- ting current of the Life-power becomes a clear transmitter of Solar Consciousness, able to intercept the high frequencies necessary for building the Mystic Temple of Regenerated Humanity. The symbolism of Key 19 holds the higher image of man as a member of the Fifth Kingdom. The children are extensions of the wavy and salient rays of the Sun, Within the body they represent the solar and lunar currents of the One Conscious Energy. By visualizing our- selves as this Key with the aid of color and sound vibratory attunement, We are actually introducing seed images that will serve as suggestions tm the subconscious building process. Through it the seed images are elaborated and reproduced, eventually altering the chemical composition of our cells and rearranging the i Scien es ging the structural organization of the parts that a) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 12 To bring about this change we must remember that our cells are living organisms responsive to our every suggestion. They are centers of consciousness. Everything in our physical body is a trans- formation of radiant energy. We assimilate it from the food we eat; we breathe it in through our lungs. Our first suggestions as to what We want accomplished should be in the form of seeing to it that our body gets the proper materials in the form of food, air, water and light. “In Alchemy this is called the "gross work", which must be per- formed before taking up the subtle work. This part of the work is not esoteric. What you find in good books on nutrition and hygiene is all that is needed. Vitamin and mineral rich foods (the addition of natural supplements in this time of over-processed, devitalized food is a good idea), sufficient water, sunlight and air in the form of our breathing exercises are the basic essentials. This first concern is a most powerful suggestion to the subliminal building processes that you are preparing for higher levels of conscious awarenes When suggestions applied by this 'gross work! have become habitual you are ready to utilize more subtle means. The more we Yemember when we eat that we are eating pure spirit, when we drink that we are drinking pure spirit, and when doing our breathing exer- cises that we are breathing pure spirit, the more effective will be our suggestion to the 'Moon! that she is to intercept higher rates of solar energy. The Great Work is a physiological reorganization. Its goal is mental identification with the One Reality. The 'red work of the sun! demands a certain degree of self-conscious mental comprehension. To incorporate higher consciousness into our bodies we need to see, understand and apply the principles, laws and forces that will bring it about. The ‘white work of the moon! dissolves fixed patterns in the body which are the result of wrong patterns of thinking, acting and re- sponding in both the conscious and subconscious mental levels. However, to carry out the most subtle adjustments of physio- logical transmutation, something beyond the personal consciousness is necessary. The deeper transmutation must be turned over to Higher Guidance. The girl in Key 19 is of equal stature to the boy. By means of an oft repeated self-conscious decision, the subconscious deductive processes must be released from self-conscious domination. Even with our best intentions we are all influenced by race errors that make us subject to states of depression and to accepting delusive ideas at times. By releasing the girl, who is really the same as the woman in Key 6, from elaborating our conscious errors and by affirming repeatedly that her marvelous formative powers are to be guided by the One Teacher, she will become receptive to the higher secrets of physiological transmutation and reflect them back to her partner in the fairy ring. ‘Through the vibratory practices with Key 19 and the 6 and 2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 12 Knight of Pentacles, we are going to become receptive to energies that will supercharge our vehicles with solar radiance. We are concerned with embodying the Life-power into specific physical forms that are ar- ranged to intercept the higher frequencies of solar energy. This em- bodiment will eventually lead to the mental realization of the union of the individual self with Ben, the Son, who is one with the Father. Thus in the Emerald Tablet the One Force is said to "ascend from earth to heaven and descend again to earth". Always the power of ascension is from the One Self, but it is from physical completion that the individual consciousness is able to ascend to higher awareness and bring that awareness back to the personal self-conscious perceptions. Notice that the units in the 6 of Pentacles are separated, but identical in form. At the center of each is a pentagram. The seeming- ly separate parts of the manifest world are identical at the center. The pentagram is a symbol of man's eternal dominion over the forms in Assiah. This must be grasped by the individual ego, related to Tiphareth, and incorporated into the body consciousness, before the expression of that dominion can be perfectly manifest. To grasp the real meaning of this dominion one must first per- ceive the true basis of all physical forms. The cells of our body are made up of the same chemical elements as the rest of the bodies in the universe. All physical substances are living. All life is an expression ofconsciousness. We recognize life with our outer senses in certain carbon-hydrogen chains related to plant and animal structure, but all structures are an expression of consciousness. Wherever form exists, life or consciousness exists. The difference in the amount of consciou ness a form is able to express is basically a difference in the proportion and arrangement of its atomic units. The substance of every atom in the universe is radiant energy, and it is identical to the substance of every other atom. The differences we see in forms are built up from differ- ences in number and inter-relationship of the identical units of radiant energy within the structure of the atom. Thus the form of every cell in our body is a special arrangement of solar energy. The activity of every cell is the result of solar energy flowing through it. Both its substance and its activity are transforma- tion of One Power, The activity or awareness aspect is one pole; the substance, or that which arranges into form, is the other pole, The human organism is the culmination of eons and eons of the development of consciousness in form. The body of one who has entered the Fifth Kingdom is the result of a further development in which the individua- lized human ego takes a conscious part. Because he knows himself to be an instrument rough which the One Self perfects form, he is able to exercise that dominion and perfect his own form. (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAK: 12 TECHNIQUE For the Technique related to the solar energy in Assiah, com~ bine the Knight and 6 of Pentacles with Key 19, the Tejus - Prithivi Symbol and the orange color card. With this technique we are con~ cerned with impressing the seed image of the regenerated Solar Being into the cellular consciousness. Begin with the usual deep breathing and then place yourself within Key 21 and the blue-violet ocean of light. This is our power source for all building and integration of form. In- tone Ah-oo- mm on the note A. Now visualize the point of orange light at your heart and expand it outward until everything is encompassed by it. Meditate on the sym- bols before you for some time. Without attempting to interpret, just receive their symbolism. Now, within the orange universe become Key 19. Try to feel yourself as all the symbols at once, as if all were contained within your body. Now, from the central point within your heart, pour out love in all directions; pour it out like a liquid flow of living gold. Saturate all the separate symbols that you feel inside of you with this flow of liquid gold. As you continue radiating this love from your heart, visualize all the symbols becoming 20 illumined, so flooded with light, ‘that they dis~ appear into One Radiance. For a moment feel yourself as a dimension- less point at the center of this unending ocean of radiance. (Meditation) Say to yourself: "All the universe is One Radiance. Then tense and relax Jour muscles to help incorporate the energies we have invoked into your physical body. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Thirteen (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) Tarot Key 16 depicts the Mars force as the destroyer of the delusion of personal will. Natural man experiences this energy as the volition to act, which gives him the feeling that he possesses personal will-power. The same energy that first deludes us as to the source of our volitional impulses eventually frees us from this delusion so that we can become conscious agents for the only Will that there is in all the universe On the Tree of Life the 5th Sephirah, Geburah, is the sphere of activity for Mars. In Atziluth, Mars corresponds to the principle or universal idea behind all expressions of volition and will in the lower worlds. It is the driving, activating power that carries out the essential purpose of the Life-power in a cycle of Its self-manifestation. The 5 of Wands, formed into a pentagram, depicts this ultimate purpose as the dominion of Spirit over the forms through which that Spirit is expressing. This purpose necessitates a continuous destruction of old forms and a continuous re-integration into new ones. Thus Mars is associated with both destruction and generation In man the 5 of Wands symbolizes attainment of the state of cons- ciousness wherein he becomes an unobstructed channel for the One Will, able to exercise active dominion over the levels of manifestation below him in awareness. This state of dominion is the result of a continuous destruction of old patterns of mental, emotional and physical activity and and equally continuous re-integration into new ones that are increasingly more in harmony with the true source of all will. The delusive quality of personal will is first to be grasped by the mind. By use of reason we can come to comprehend that any act, whether that act be mental, emotional or physical, must be cosmic rather than Personal in origin. The One Will projects extensions or energies of Itself into a space, filling it with rates of vibration which combine in various arrangements and proportions to form the various bodies and energies that become manifest as the physical world. We have often heard that man is a microcosm; that all the cosmic laws and powers express through him. This means that every cosmic Power, every law of nature, has its correlation and expression within our personality. This further means that it is an interplay of cosmic forces that is the actual basis for everything we experience as a persona lity. Every activity of personality — mental activities of thought, emo- tional activities of feeling and desire, physical activities of volition-to-do — all are transformations of cosmic energies. Our vehicles are so arranged that they resist or intercept the flow of these omnipresent cosmic energies which are everywhere, a3 are radio waves. We are a complex inter-relationship of impersonal cosmic forces. None of these forces that give us the feeling of having a ay VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 13 Personal will belong to us. They seem to be personal because that is one of the necessary illusions, up to a certain level of development, of the human evolutionary process Keep in mind that it is the resistance that our bodies set up to the flow of these impersonal energies which results in the volitional drives and seemingly personal will that we feel. This resistance is effected by the structure and arrangement of our bodies. Think for a minute of what constitutes our feelings of personal will. As the Mars force is intercepted by the various organs and structures that make up our bodies — physical and finer — we feel separate, we feel ourselves within the vehicle. Our general ‘body sense! is an effect of the tonicity of the voluntary and involuntary muscles, which are expressions of the ‘Mars energy. In the brain, this same energy gives us the power to use our voluntary muscles.” It also activates our brain as a motor for thinking. (Mars in Aries.) The same energy is most powerful in the reproductive organs and the nerve centers and glandular activities associated with them. (Mars in Scorpio.) Our sense of personal will is produced by the transformations of this activating dynamic energy in our brain, in our muscles, in our glands and in the organs of reproduction. When we begin to comprehend the basis of personal volition we will be better able to surrender the little, really non-existent, personal will, and become @ conscious channel for the unlimited Will of the One Essentially, the Mars energy is the Life-force, Chaiah. It is the Yod force emanating from Chokmah as Mezla, the stream of descending influence which holds within itself the purpose of manifestation. As it activates the forms of Binah it expresses in some type of volition. In the earlier stages of evolution this will energy became involved in instincts or patterns of survival, fear and propagation of the species. Thus it is related to the animal drives and impulses which we have carried over in our vehicles from earlier states of unfoldment. Our body consciousness has been evolved through this whole line of development. It still holds this powerful will drive in these ancient patterns. Although all of them were necessary at certain stages of the evolutionary process, many of these volitional patterns need to be dis~ solved and re-integrated into higher expressions in order to give impetus to our further evolution. It is important to realize that no matter how the Mars drive has been expressing, in ourselves or in others, essentially it is the One Will. ‘What was right for the past, however, no longer holds true in the same way as we begin to tread the Path of Return. Now this volitional drive, this will to act, must be released from patterns that no longer serve our further efolution. The more we can begin imaging it as flowing into our field of influence from higher planes, the more readily will it begin to dissolve the patterns of false action in which it has become immersed. ‘The Mare center in our subtle body is the focal point wherein this (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 13 TECHNIQUE Begin as usual with deep rhythmic breathing and the intonation of the Divine Names to get the personal level vibrations into harmony with their cosmic counterparts. Image yourself within Key 21 and the ocean of blue-violet light, surrounded and permeated with the infinite substance of the Mother. Intone Ah-oo-mm three times on the note A. Feel the blue-violet light in motion all around you, like the quiet motions of a Great Sea. Now visualize the point of orange light beginning at your heart and expanding out and out, until the blue-violet ocean has been trans~ formed into a vibrating, pulsating ocean of orange light. Image your- self within the Sun of Key 19 as you intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D. Now, while still within the orange light, look at the symbols before you related to Mars. Meditate upon them for a few moments and then visualize a globe of red appearing two inches below your navel. See it as a globe with an arrow pointing upward like the symbol for Mars. The arrow is pointing toward your heart. Now visualize the red Mars symbol beginning to expand in all directions until you find yourself en- compassed in the scarlet light. The orange sea of light has become a scarlet sea of light. Feel this light as vital and activating. __Now visualize yourself within the tower of Key 16, receiving the lightning flash of truth. The sudden flash may disrupt and disturb you, but it will also free you from the tower of false conceptions in which you have been immersed. (Meditation) "J invite the Lightning of Heaven. I seek truth, no matter how many personal ideas or chéerishéd principlés must fall into the dust of unreality. -Iam ready to face truth, for there lasting peace or happiness or love in the veils of illusion." Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note C. As you receive the flash of truth from the solar disk above, see the figures falling from the tower. They are but illusive shadows; they are the shells of your wrong ideas about yourself. Now that they have fallen away, along with the false crown of personal autonomy, feel yourself receiving the beautiful truth of the Divine Origin of all things. You are the Pentagram of God! Through you His Divine Purpose shall be brought into perfect expression in the Kingdom of Adonai. Return to the embrace of the Ego by again visualizing the point of orange light expanding outward from the heart until you have returned to the ocean of orange. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D to symbolically surrender all your use of the Mars energy to direction from the One Ego. Complete this practice by performing the integrating visualization with all the colors; then tense and relax the muscles of your body as ex- * 4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Fourteen (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) The volitional drive related to Mars is the active agent in the evolution of self-consciousness in man. As the power that stimulates activity in the brain, Mars is the impetus behind our ability to reason and analyze. These mental faculties, related to Tarot Key 4, The Emperor, are what has brought natural man to his present level of individuality and intellectual awareness. On the Tree of Life, Hod, the seat of intellect, receives the volitional energy of Geburah through the Path of Mem. All intellectual pursuits require some degree of the mental stability and reflective inner pondering symbolized by Key 12. To reason, to analyze and to think in an orderly, meaningful manner is to gain control over the stream of mental substance. As mental powers began developing in man, many of the deduc- tions he formulated were based on wrong premises and resulted in the legion of misconceptions that have been patterned in the collective sub- consciousness. The tower in Key 16 is the result of man's misuse of his mental powers. Relative to its expression in Briah, the lightning is the super-personal flash of true perception which initiates the destruc- tion of these many errors which are preventing us from full receptivity to the Briatic emanations of Divine Reason. The flashes of truth disrupt the false tower of comfortable human error, throwing our minds into conflict and chaos for atime. As the lightning repeatedly strikes at our former ideas of truth, the resultant confusion and temporary darkness are painful. Even our bodies must go through a period of adjustment to higher levels of truth, for they are part of the transformation of personality into the New Creature. Yet all the disruptions are necessary before we can build the Perfected Temple. The same fiery energy that has driven us to full individuality must now be consciously applied to destroy the false house of personality surmounted by the false crown of personal autonomy and built on the false foundation of personal separateness. The lightning flash of Key 16 must be felt repeatedly before we can develop the higher vision, for we all have many towers of error that must fall. The flash of lightning is a flash of electrical power. The Mars force and this electrical fluid are identical. This energy is what excites every creature into action. It is what gives us the volitional drive to enter into pursuits designed to satisfy our desires. We must remember that no matter on what level it is expressing, that which excites to action originates in the immutable Purpose of the One Will. ,_. What we will be doing in the Technique for this lesson is learning to direct our seemingly personal will toward receiving the Higher Vision. We will be preparing ourselves to intercept the high tension electrical energy that will bring true insight and foresight into our field of personal qa) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 14 expression. This higher vision of reality is symbolized in Tarot Key 4. The dominion which the Emperor portrays is the consequence of con- nual receptivity to the super-personal impulses from the Briatic level of Divine Reason, In order to become the Emperor and exercise his confident dominion over circumstances, the main current of our volitional drive must be turned in a new direction (Key 13). We must direct the power of seemingly personal will toward seeking wisdom, seeking greater understanding, seeking to comprehend the true origin of life. As the Powerful current of will becomes the Eagle of Aspiration, the higher tension currents of Divine reason and insight become available to the self-conscious mind. This yearning for higher wisdom must be accompanied by ra- tional thinking and careful analysis of the reports of the physical sen: These must come first because they force us to see the errors in the way we have been using our mental faculties in the past. Often we be- come painfully aware of discrepancies between our higher ideals and our actual practices toward ourselves and others. This process is akin to the Calcination Stage of the Great Work associated with Key 4. Our new conceptions of reality continue to tear down one error after another until the subconscious level is sufficiently purified and raised in vibratory frequency to where it is able to receive the higher vision and insight emanating from the Briatic level. During the Calcination process we are torn with the conflicts which result from the war between any still-active demands of our lower nature and the ever-growing power of our higher aspirations. Key 16 ig a symbol of these inner conflicts that find expression in our outer life. The strife and turmoil in our inter-relationships with others and prob- Jems in our business or professional life are often the outworking of the Mars drive within us as we are being impelled more and more insis tently to let go of old values, old patterns, old desires. As the lightning continues to strike and the bricks of false values continue to fall, the Mars energy is set free from its prison in old volitional drives. Then it begins to energize and activate the center of higher vision that brings us hitherto undreamed of joy and delight in the very experiences and sense reports that once caused us so much pain. ‘Note that the head and arms of the Emperor form a triangle and his legs form across. This cross surmounted by a triangle is the sym- bol for Sulphur, the active quality of self-consciousness. While moat of the activities of self-consciousness are directed toward gratifying bodily and environmental desires, man remains a child of earth, bound by the ancient patterns inherent in the forms through which he is evolving. ‘When the Sulphur of self-consciousness turns toward seeking wisdom and truth, it is illuminated by the Mercury of the Sages and all its men- tal and physical activities begin to express the higher Wisdom and Love associated with the Creative Plane of Briah. (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 14 As the practice continues we realize that this higher Vision is not personal. Note that the units in the 5 of Cups are arranged in such a way as to form two triangles which share a common point. It implies a union of the powers related to the number 5 with those related to the number 6. The powers of the microcosm (5) are the means for mani- festing the powers of the macrocosm (6). What this arrangement sug- gests is that the super-personal Briatic plane of activity finds its means for expression through a prepared human personality who has grasped, to some extent, his place of mediation in the cosmic order. We have to deny repeatedly the personal origin of our ability to reason, to think, or even to aspire, before we can express in full mea- sure the higher vision and insight portrayed by the Emperor. All per~ sonal faculties must be acknowledged as super-personal in origin. This culminates in the death of the old personality symbolized by Key 13 and the Putrefactive Stage of the Great Work. Putrefaction lifts the repro- ductive energy to the higher centers where the Wisdom and Understanding emanating from Briah are reproduced in the substance of Yetsirah and eventually made manifest in the world of Assiah, where the completion of the Great Work must take place. The practice included in this lesson is aimed at strengthening our drive to seek higher wisdom. By continuously acknowledging the true source of will power and patterning our actions after this truth, we will be turning the Sulphur of self-consciousness toward Mercurial illu- mination, thus repressing any excess of salt or the inertia which keeps us feeding old habit patterns of error. But remember, salt is also the principle of preservation. When it is duly purified it will preserve the New Image into the very cells of our body. TECHNIQUE Have ready the red color card, the Tejus-Tejus Tattva, and the 5 of Cups, together with Keys 4, 13 and 16, which are all related to ex- Pressions of the Mars energy. Begin with the deep rhythmic breathing and the intonation of the four Divine Names. Proceed by placing yourself within the blue-violet ocean of light to arouse the Saturn energy which is the active power that impels the Mars energy to higher centers of expression. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note A as you visualize yourself within Key 21. Next, expand the orange point of light which begins at your heart into the ocean of orange radiance that activates the heart center. Visua- lize yourself within Key 19 and consciously surrender any subsequent transformations of the Mars energy to guidance from the One Ego. Intone Ab-oo-mm on the note D as you pour out love to all the directions of space. Now within the orange sea of radiance meditate on the Keys and symbols related to Mars that you have placed before you. Visualize the globular bright red Mars symbol appearing at a paint below your navel with the arrow pointing toward your heart. Next, expand the scarlet red Mare symbol out and out until you are inundated in a sea of brilliant scar- let ight. Feel the vibrating scarlet light coursing through your veins, (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 14 your muscles, your whole body. Feel yourself activated, excited and filled with vital aliveness. Feel this energy activating your brain and filling you with a powerful determination to persevere in your search for truth. As the scarlet light excites your will to accomplish, deter- mine to actively work at dissolving any errors in your thinking and reasoning that are keeping you from receiving the higher vision from the plane of Briah. (Meditation) am filled with the vital life of God. His Will is my will. Iam ready to give up any false lines of reasoning or pet ‘principles’ that are tinged with the errors of this world. No matter how much conflict this may stir into action I want Re ‘As my tower of false values comes tumbling down Tow that the Temple of God will be erected in ite place. The death of the old initiates the birth of the new and I am ready to die, that Imay be Reborn to the Higher Wisdom. " Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note C as you again feel the scarlet red ocean of vibratory light permeating you with its power to accomplish, to persevere, to vitalize. Now, once again expand the point of orange light from your heart, out and out until it replaces the red and fills all of space. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D and dedicate the vital voli- tional power that you have activated to the service of the Ego within the heart. Finish as always with the integrating ritual and the tensing and relaxing of your body muscles, which will serve to fixate the higher energies into the cells of your body. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Fifteen (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) The action related to Mars has always been an essential part of the evolution of consciousness. All change is rooted in the Martian power to activate. Destruction and reproduction are poles of this motion. ‘The volition to act, whether it finds outlet in instinctual compulsions, in deliberate acts to satisfy desires, or in Divine Aspiration to higher wis- dom, is this same energy driving toward change on some level. In Yetzirah the activity of Mars is particularly related to its ex- pression as the reproductive power symbolized by Key 13. It has been the impetus behind the forward push of evolution and has provided the One Life with an ascending scale of bodies through which to manifest. The evolutionary purpose of the One Will is dependent upon transforma- tion carried out by the destruction and reproduction of form. Peh, 5, the Hebrew letter related to Mars, is identical in numera- tion to Yesod, 110%, 80. It is the Vital Soul of man, seated in Yesod, which responds automatically to patterns that have been charged with volitional energy. In the past the Mars energy has been most active in the instinctual life, expressing in the drive to sexual expression, self- preservation and all the Vital Soul impulses that are predominantly con- cerned with satisfying the demands of the sensual life. Man, however, is now emerging into more conscious awareness of the Divine Ego within. This accounts for the inner wars between old evil tendencies and newly awakened higher aspirations. The force of Mars in Yetzirah, symbolized by the 5 of Swords, is the disruptive energy that subjects us to the severity of Geburah in order to free us from pat terns of action that are no longer right for us. 216, the number of Gebu- rah, 71733, strength, is also the number of areah, 777K, lion. The lion is a symbol of the whole range of the Life-power's activities below the human level. But the lion is also our strength. In Tarot Key 8 he is not sup~ pressed or killed, but tamed. The animal nature is our power, When we refine its activities through love, through knowledge and thvough or- derly cultivated use of desire, it provides the impetus for liberation. Never forget, this vital driye which has been the Scorpion of Death i: also the Eagle of Aspiration. When we give it wings, it soars to the Crown and completes the organ of inner vision. The essence of Mars is the One Will in its aspect of undeviating purpose and justice. Our goals and drives to accomplish are reflections of this Divine Purpose even when they are not seemingly in accord with our Higher Aspirations. Even when men energize goals and purposes that are so distorted that they temporarily serve the forces of evil, they are still rooted in the One Will. In the final analysis nothing can oppose evolution and the ultimate perfect expression of the Divinity within the human heart. qa) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 15 ., But light can be veiled. Evolution can be temporarily impeded in time and space. The main problem lies in the powerful influence that gacient patterns still have over most of humanity. Man yet pays idola- frous homage to ideas and needs that are outmoded and have been for long periods of time. As you have often heard, the reign of these separa- five impulses was necessary at earlier stages of evolution. They served fo develop self-conscious awareness in form. Sense perceptions of the gavironment developed because man was forced to look for ways out of ger, fear and danger. The sex drive, in its compulsive form, assured the preservation of the species. These ancient needs, no longer constructive to us as they once functioned, are still influential and drive us into unwise actions and res- Ponses. Know that the struggles which torment your soul are really gifts from the Holy Guardian Angel of Key 14. He is applying the test _ of severity to help you become increasingly more aware of any impurities in the Vital Soul level of you that are holding you back from conscious union with the Divine Ego within. Recall that the sphere of activity for Mars is related to justice, to severity and to law. True justice is not always outwardly beneficent. It must destroy evil in any of its expressions and this often requires the use of the sword. Mare is the planet of war and conflict. The higher understanding of justice recognizes the need to employ strength and severity to destroy all that inhibits the full expression of Light. The root of evil in a man or in a nation is the usurpation of will force as personal and the subsequent directing of this power toward selfish, avaricious ends that enslave and degrade other human beings. By single-minded intention, powerfully focused and selfishly oriented, men can become centers or focuses for the expression of ancient forms of evil. Such a man becomes a tool for the dark forces that hinder human evolution and the reign of Light. Although based on delusion, the separative use of the Will energy is possible in the lower worlds of manifestation. It is rooted in a power- ful belief in separated ego consciousness. All tyrants are obsessed by this delusion. Their followers and worshippers brutally work to destroy whatever is designed to liberate human thought from the heresy of per- sonal will and the domination of the animal nature. Their plans work for a time by telling man lies about his true nature. They reverse the pentagram by declaring that man is a slave of his elemental nature. It is this mistaken belief in self-autonomy that makes men prone to channel evil forces. What they identify with when they believe in personal will is the lower vital soul nature In the Bible evil men are called oxp1 503, keseph nemias, reprobate silver, because silver, the metal of the moon, is the sphere of Yesod, seat of the Vital Soul. ' The wicked are dominated by the un= restrained impulses of the animal nature. Evil men are also compared to the base metals — brass, iron and lead. In this sense brass is asso- ciated with the unruly desire nature, iron with mistaken forms of action (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 15 to satisfy desire, and lead with selfish use of the power of limitation and integration. 666, the number of the beast, is a number related to the Sun. It is a mistaken understanding of the 'I' consciousness that directs energy into thought forms, images and patterns of action that perpetuate ancient evils in Yetzirah. This tendency to channel evil forces is what meant by the "mark of the beast". Key 16 as it expresses in Yetzirah is a symbol of the destruction of these manifold errors in human motivation. Note that the five swords in the 5 of Swords form a pentagram, symbol of man's dominion over the elements. To bring the pentagram right side up with the point of spirit at the top is the real work related to the 5 of Swords. However much disruption the sword of severity may visit upon us, it is that which will eventually destroy the evil idea of the reversed pentagram. The reversed pentagram symbolically affirms that ancient powers, no longer constructive to man, are supreme. This is what degrades man to himself and keeps him subject to his lower nature. The reversed pentagram puts the top point below the elements, thus saying that the consciousness of man is dominated by the elements. This, as you know, is a favorite declaration of the proponents of materialism. The destruction of error is brought about by flooding the collective consciousness with images which reflect right understanding of the true source of will and of the 'I' consciousness. When man knows that his place in the cosmic order is to act as mediator between Above and Below, she begins to liberate all that is below, and this includes his own lower ‘nature. Our work is to help liberate humanity by becoming channels for the One Will and the Masters of Wisdom who are working for human liberation. In our Technique for this lesson we want to enhance the vi- brations which hold right understanding of the true source of personal will and thus help to destroy the thought forms that keep man in wrong relationship to the Vital Soul. TECHNIQUE Have ready the red color card, the Tejus-Tejus symbol, the 5 of Swords and Tarot Keys 4, 13 and 16. Start with deep rhythmic breathing and then intone the four Divine Names. Immerse yourself in the blue-violet ocean of light as you image yourself within Key 21. You are one with the central point of the Cube of Space where the co-ordinates cross, receiving and emanating their supernal powers. You are the mediator, receiving powers from above and ex~ fending them to the planes below. You are 'Light in Extension‘. Intone -0O-mm on the note D. Now meditate on the symbols before you. The Tejus~Teju symbol and Key 4 correspond to the fiery activating quality of Mara and to its relationship with the sense of sight. The 5 of Wands and Key 16 correspond to the release of energy from outworn forms on all Planes. Key 13 relates to the transforming, yet perpetuating, power of Mars whereby the Changeless reaps the harvest of the mutable. Now image the Mars symbol appearing just below your navel in globular form with the arrow pointed upward as before. Expand this symbol until the scarlet vibration permeates all of space. Visualize yourself once again within the tower of Key 16. You are a channel for the lightning flash from Heaven, the lightning of truth that destroys the evil forms in Yetzirah which keep men in darkness. Image the electric energy from the lightning forming into a vibrating pentagram of dominion that tells man the truth about himself. (Meditation): "As a mediator for the Divine One, I receive the Lightning of God and form it into a pentagram of dominion. The light which I receive I extend to all lives, to all creatures, to all Kingdoms. Any form that seeks to perpetuate the delusion of separateness cannot withstand the lightning fire of truth. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note C as you remain centered in the red vibrations. Again expand the orange light from your heart, returning to the orange vibratory ocean. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D. From the heart center radiate love to all the directions of space. Try to feel yourself immersed in a shoreless ocean of flowing, enrapturing love. Finish as usual with the integrating visualizations of all the colors. Tense and relax all the muscles of your body. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Sixteen 8 lectures by Ann Davies) (from the transcripts of cl: ‘Mars is exalted in Capricorn, which is often referred to as the earthiest earth sign. This intimates that the highest use of the Mars ruptive force is that of destroying no longer useful forms that chain us to the appearances of the material world symbolized in Key 15. However, we should remember that before a no longer useful form can be destroyed it must first crystalize or come to its completion in Assiah. That is, the results of negative emotions or erroneous thinking must come to their term as a situation, a relationship or a physical object in Assiah before they are distinct enough for the Martian energy to destroy them. The unhappy appearances and the problems of physical existence are the concrete representations of some line of wrong thinking or feeling that needs to be recognized before it can be transmuted. As human errors in thinking and responding — both individual and collec- tive — become manifest in Assiah, they bring the repercussions and miseries that finally force us into action. This is the beginning of the wisdom that leads to Renewal. The things of this world get our attention, excite our interest and stimulate our desire for possessions and experiences. Assiah is the plane that must be dealt with in one way or another. We cannot ignore it. By being confronted with the concrete results of wrong lines of reasoning or acting repeatedly enough, sometimes through several lifetimes, we are eventually forced into finding ways to solve the problems and destroy the causes. Thus it is the phenomenal world that finally brings the highest manifestation of Mars energy into activity. This activating energy is basic in all scientific advancement. Not all problems are rooted in error. The Mars energy also works toward the solution of the enigmas of natural phenomena. The mysteries of nature turn alert minds into a desire to rend the veils of nature. The Mars drive directed toward seeking the answers to the working of physi- cal phenomena has lead to man's partial dominion over natural forces. Ail transformations in culture and civilization are really the control of elemental forces through the development of specific patterns formulated by human intelligence. It is here on the physical plane that universal forces can be studied through their concrete appearances or results. This drive to unveil the mysteries behind nature has transformed outer appearances and given man some of the keys to new combinations of cosmic forces that have been responsible for new appearances in Assiah. Dealing with Physical universe develops mental capacities and stimulates to action. Thus the path of Ayin energizes Hod, seat of the intellect. Physical phe~ wha gna and the processes of nature reveal secrets of formation to anyone who knows how to look. a) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 16 This is the dominion in earth corresponding to the 5 of Pentacles. However, if this level of dominion is devoid of true understanding about the nature of will and the livingness of all things, it can fashion even heavier chains by causing man to become hypnotized by the appearances and circumstances in Assiah. This is an aspect of the reversed penta- &ram shown in Key 15. Ih divination the 5 of Pentacles, Mars in Assiah, is a symbol of material gain but subsequent trouble, anxiety and eventual loss. In natural man, up to this point in evolution, dominion over physical phe- nomena has brought him material wealth and the revelation of many of the secrets of nature, but the delusion of separateness still reigns. Too many of the intellectually developed members of society who influence others profoundly still misunderstand the origin of causation. The dominion of intelligent man over natural forces has been magnificently exhibited in the great scientific and cultural progre! which has been achieved, particularly in the last century. Scientific minds have grasped many of the secrets of nature, They have developed atomic power, space travel, ingenious computers, etc. Yet, because this dominion is not fully understood or rightly utilized, it is also the cause of most of our miseries. Progress has been accompanied by in- creased danger to civilization because most of humanity are overly con- cerned with the concrete results of the dominion of consciousness. They reverse the pentagram even while controlling natural forces by erro- neously attributing causation to the plane of results. Because of thi primal error, human dominion over the elements is too often utilized in ways that bring misery to the many in order to satisfy the selfish desires or fanatical principles of the few. This reversal of effect for cause and the subsequent adverse use of dominion is rooted in ignorance of the doctrine of the microcosm. Few human beings realize that the forces of nature which science seeks to control are also within us. Unless control of the elemental forces is first established within, control of these same forces in Assiah is sub- ject to misuse. Power over natural forces is actually dangerous until man understands their activity in his own personality. ‘The restrictions and seeming chains in Assiah are part of the growth process. They are necessary to any human being until he has developed to where he can grasp the doctrine of the Superpersonal Will. The Behaviorist School of psychology holds that man is an automatic reactor to outside stimuli; an automatic response mechanism with no free will at all. They propose plans whereby humanity can be condi- tioned into being more or less happy, perfect beings. Their idea is to set up external conditions to which human reactions will be personally and socially constructive. Their ideas, and similar materialistically oriented theories, are based on the primal error of giving effect the place of cause. Volition is not determined by stimuli of the environ- ment except in that a man thinks himself so conditioned. However, whether free will is denied as by the Behayiorists, or falsely exalted as by the tyrants of history, all their plans for regi- (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 16 menting humanity eventually fail because they are not in harmony with the true source of will. Free willis a reality. We are instruments of Yekhidah in Kether and our purpose is to exercise dominion over all environmental phenomena as His mediator. He is within us and also more than us. When we learn to begin all actions with this image in mind we increase our effectiveness infinitely, for the One Will is limitless. It can transform all our volitions — mental, emotional and physical — into actions that lead us ever nearer to perfection. The purposes of manifestation require human personality. Our perfection will fulfill that purpose. As stated earlier, the true dominion of man over the elements is first to be established within. Control of these forces within is not accomplished directly by the self-conscious mind. The symbolism of Key 8 shows that the inter- mediary is human subconsciousness and its power of creative imagination. ‘An image of the true place of human personality in the cosmic order must be planted in subconsciousness. This realization must be nourished and sustained through periods of positive visualization until the image be- comes so impressed upon the structure of our bodies that it colors all our subsequent thoughts, responses and actions. The personality Sephiroth and their powers must be consciously under the control of the Ego in Tiphareth before one can safely begin the intensified stage of transmutation which leads to the goal of the Great Work. When sufficient inner transmutation has taken place, the Mars energy acts as the destroyer. Physiologically, as well as psychologi- cally, it is a disruptive vibration. Directed with knowledge and under- standing it serves to break down cell structures in the physical body that hold error. This destruction, under control of the Ego, dissolves any physiological structures that inhibit the upward flow of the Mars energy. Dominion over elemental forces in the hands of those who rightly grasp the unity of life and the reign of love is what will eventu- ally bring about the New Order of the Ages, the True Brotherhood of In our technique for Mars in Assiah we want to direct our ima- gery toward bringing about the physiological transformations that will lead to illumination. Ilumination is the result of a new and better bodily structure. Through direction of the perpetuating power of Mars in con- structive visualization, we want to impress the image of our body as a channel for the One Will on the consciousness of every cell. This use of imagery first overthrows false structures of thinking. The higher sub- conscious powers, whereby the body becomes a chamel for supereons cious vibrations, are developed as actual physical structures and as changes in the chemical constitution of the blood and glandular secretions As the Behaviorists declare, the glandular secretions have a decided effect on how a personality expresses. They err in placing these secre- fons in the place of primal cause. They do affect the activities of the Personality, but man is not his personality. The Great Work is the work of physiological reorganization, and its goal is Self-recognition and men- tal identification with the One Reality. (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 16 TECHNIQUE For this Technique include Key 15 and the 5 of Pentacles, along with the Tejus~Tejus symbol, Keys 4, 13 and 16, and the red color rd, Begin with deep rhythmic breathing and the intonation of the four Divine Names. Visualize yourself centered in Key 21 and immersed in blue-violet light. The energy related to Key 21 is that which impels Mars upward. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note A. Now transform the blue-violet light into orange light, centering your consciousness in Key 19. Again dedicate all your use of power to guidance from the Ego in Tiphareth, the center of love and unity within the heart. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D. Proceed by meditating on the symbols before you with the idea of impressing their imagery upon the cellular consciousness. Next visualize the scarlet Mars symbol appearing below your navel with the arrow pointed upward. Expand it until you are immersed in scarlet light; then visualize yourself within Key 16. The lightning flash activates the fiery energy which dissolves any structures that hold error in form. (Meditation): "I feel the scarlet vibration coursing through my veins and filling me with the power which is transforming me into a conscious mediator for the One Will. Through me the Divine Purpose will find fulfillment in the world of Assiah. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note C as you again feel the volitional energy coursing through your body. Visualize the orange globe within the heart expanding outward until you are once again immersed in the orange light. Intone Ah-oo-mm. on the note D. Finish this practice period with the Color Integrating Ritual and the tensing and relaxing exercise. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Seventeen (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) Tarot Key 10 is related to the Jupiter center in our body, often called the abdominal brain, It is associated with the epigastric ganglion. and a center in the sympathetic nervous system behind the stomach, Eastern philosophy it is called the Manipura Chakra. In our color a1 sound techniques it corresponds to the violet vibration and the note Ag. The abdominal brain is impressed with and holds a record of all the essential activities and processes whereby the Life-power has evolved organic form on this globe. Even the stages of involution and evolution which preceded the appearance of organic life have left traces on thisi¢ell group. Learning to read the record and thereby unfolding the wonders of the evolutionary process from its remote beginnings is one result of awakening the Jupiter center into increased activity. Jupiter, the planet called the greater fortune in astrology, finds its sphere of activity in Chesed, to which the function of memory is ai signed. This intimates that recall of the cosmic involutionary and evo- lutionary cycles is the greatest treasure we can unfold, The letter Kaph printed on Key 10 signifies grasp. The great treasure includes ability to comprehend the significance of this cyclic activity and how it can be applied to our personal life, ‘The 4 of Wands corresponds to the activity of Chesed in Atziluth, The wands, symbolizing Atziluthic vibrations, are formed into a square of finite comprehension, Chesed is the Path of the Measuring Intelligence. Our ability to comprehend the true significance of anything, on any level, is based on right measurement, Evolution displays measurement, system, regulation, orderliness, supervision and control. In occult geometry all these are related to the number 4, This intimates that deeper recall will unveil the significance of these qualities in every aspect of life. They are e ential for bringing about our further growth and ultimate freedom. To bring order, system and regulation into our own life is the ence of beneficence to ourselves. It is also the secret of giving bene- ficence to others. True beneficence is not merely a matter of excusing transgressions and bestowing our love and bounty upon others. Rather, it is helping them to bring order, system and meaning into their lives. ‘The Measuring Intelligence of Chesed, in its highest expression, comprey hends the cycle or development level of another and thus knows what will | best serve his growth. Chesed, Mercy, is ever balanced with Geburah, Severity, in the practice of true beneficence. Note that they are both on the level of the Higher Mind, This level of comprehension knows that everity, restriction and discipline are included in the kind of service to others that will bring about their greatest good. In the performance of the Great Work the Jupiter center must be activated if we are to bring the deeper, more ancient memories of past q@) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 17 cycles into conscious remembrance. Key 14, Jupiter in Sagittarius, is associated with the Higher Mind, which is our means of contact with the Holy Guardian Angel. This higher contact is necessary before we are able to grasp the inner significance of past cycles. Remem- brance of the past must also ie nga of of impurities and error. Incineration, associated with Key 14, is the atage of the Great Work wherein this purging by fire is accomplished. jeg cimezation is concerned with the deep purging of latent ten- dencies that remain even after denial of personality in the Putrefactive stage has been successfully completed, There are bonds which the in- carnating ego has with past eons of expression which need to be rightly understood as aspects of the form nature and not qualities of the 'I'. Incineration affirms the true origination of everything which is accom- plished through personaiity, The process of Incineration clears the Jupiter center of errors so that the individual consciousness is able to come into right align- ment with cosmic cycles, These errors are associated with the desire nature because most desires originate in ancient, unconscious memory ties. Incineration transmutes the desire nature 0 that it begins turn- ing away from the magnetic pull of old remembered sensations and turns instead toward an ever growing desire for Uberation. Self-consciousness cannot penetrate into these ancient depths unaided, It is the Holy Guardian Angel who performs the work. Thus He must be invoked. This requires total devotion to all that leads to Uberation, In Qabalistic writings this tofal devotion is related to the Chasidim or ‘merciful ones'. They partake of the quality of Jupiter and their consciousness is in harmony with the nature of Chesed. Jn earlier lessons you were told that beneficence is an actual substance emanated by one who is in harmony with the 4th Sephirah. It has weight, so that it causes movement or vibration. Development of the actual substance is the fruit of practicing beneficent good will toward all creatures. Learn to bless all things, all creatures, even all situations. Make the development of this feeling toward others the main concern of your whole existence. This substence is essential to the transformation of the desire nature into harmonious relationship with the Higher Self. When the deeper levels of memory are brought into active in- fluence they unveil to us our union with past cycles of the Life-power's unfoldment, and we actually do feel with all other creatures. They are us in some past cycle, at some point on the wheel of evolution. We feel with all of life bec: we remember. This is the essence of compassion and beneficence. Our desire nature becomes devoted to helping accelerate the turning wheel of evolution so that the point of joy and enlightenment for all will come sooner in this world of time and apace. For the practice this week we are going to add further and more detailed instructions to help you activate the planetary centers more effectively and in a harmonious, balanced manner. (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 17 TECHNIQUE Have ready the 4 of Wands, Tarot Keys 10, 14, 18, the violet color card and the Vayu-Apas Tattva. Note that Vayu corresponds to the cyclic symbol of the Wheel of Fortune. Apas is associated with the Moon vibration, suggesting the retentive quality of Chesed. Begin with deep rhythmic breathing and the intonation of the four Divine Names. Immerse yourself in the ocean of blue-violet light and image yourself as the central figure in Key 21. Visualize the spirals of light, which you hold in your hands, in rapid motion, turning in two directions. The blue-violet light in which you are immersed is fluidic and in constant, rhythmic motion. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note A. Now feel the globe of orange light within your heart, pulsating with the beat of your heart. Expand it out and out until it surrounds you and embraces you. Continue to expand it out until there is naught in the universe but this orange light. Image yourself within the sun of Key 19 and feel the substance of love pouring out from your heart, through the rays, to all the directions of space. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D. Next visualize the red Mars symbol appearing below the navel with the arrow pointed toward your yeart. Expand it out and out until you are centered in an ocean of brilliant red light. Visualize yourself in the tower of Key 16 being energized, vitalized, activated by the Lightning of God. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note C. ‘We will now return to the orange light briefly before proceeding with the activation of the next center. From now on we will visualize the orange light after arousing each separate center. Through this prac- tice we are symbolically dedicating all our use of power to the Central go in a rhythmic, measured beat. Flood yourself again with the orange light-substance as you intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D. Dedicate all your use of power to the service of the One Ego centered in the heart. : Now image a tiny point of brilliant violet light appearing in the Vicinity of the solar plexus. Expand it out and out until you feel yourself immersed in wave upon wave of brilliant, fluid violet light. Place your- self symbolically at the point within the center of the wheel in Key 10. Feel the wheel rotating around and around, while you remain poised and motionless at the central point. Breathe in the violet light; feel it per- meate your vehicle, entering every cell. (Meditation): "United with the central point of the Wheel of Life, I feel with all creatures. Their pain is my pain; their joy is my joy. All are beloved fragments of God, ever united in essence; ever united in the eternal longing for liberation. I am one with the angel Michael, 'Like Unto God', pouring out the water of love, consecrating with the liberating fire, to quicken the wheel of evolution so that all the fragments of God will sooner return to conscious union with the Source. " Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note A¥. Once again image the orange globe appearing within your heart and expanding outward until all is filled (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 17 Fun its , Dedicate all the energies you have activated to the One I Am. 'w out love to all the directions of space as once again you intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D, With the integrating ritual this time, and from now on, we are Boing to add some details that should help you incorporate the liberating energies more effectively into your vehicles. Stand up and raise your arms above your head as suggested for the integration ritual. Reach! Stretch up! Begin flexing and vibrating your fingers rapidly. We want to accelerate the integration of the color energies into our vehicles Put your attention into your fingers ae you continue to keep them in rapid distinatiy are now going to receive each of the colors separately and Image the blue-violet light above you, pouring down like a fluid and entering through your rapidly moving fingers. Feel it flowing down through your fingers into your body, filling it with the unique blue-violet vibration. With your arms still above your head, flow it out and out to all the directions of space. Now bring your arms down to your sides and relax them completely, so that they feel heavy. Relax your whole ody. Again raise your arms above your head. This time image the orange liquid light flowing down from above into your rapidly moving fingers; feel it flowing down your arma from your fingertips until it per- meates your whole body all the way down to your feet. Now flow it out and out to all the directions of space. Again bring your arms down to your sides and let go! Relax! Try to relax every muscle of your body. Raise your arms again straight up over your head. This time image the brilliant red light flowing into you through your fingertip: down, down, to your very toes, Pause a moment and then flow the red Light out and out to all the directions of space. Lower your arms as be- fore and let gol Relax utterly! Raise your arms once more with the fingers moving rapidly while you image the fluid violet light entering through your fingertips and per- meating your entire body with its vibration, Then flow it out and out to all the directions of space. Lower your arms and relax. As we add the other planetary vibrations in later lessons, add them to this practice in the same manner. After you have received all the planetary colors into your vehicle, raise your arma once again and image the brilliant white light — indes- cribably brilliant — pouring into and through your entire vehicle, Satu- rate yourself with the radiant white light; then pour it out and out to all the points of space. While performing this Integration Ritual, remember that soft, melodious music will help to heighten your consciousness and make the performance even more effective. Finish, as always, with the tensing ‘and relaxing of all the muscles of your body as outlined in previous les- sons. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Le: on Eighteen (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) ups, as Chesed in Briah, is particularly related to wealth and poverty, the pair of opposites assigned to Key 10. Mental Fiches are the result of ability to retain knowledge and use it in creative pursuits that lead to a rich and meaningful life. Mental poverty is ex- pressed by those who do not use their minds to seek knowledge. They mostly live on surface sensations and their life has little meaning or satisfaction, Jn the Jupiter center are stored all past impressions. The impressions of success and happiness are recorded there together with those of failure and misery, Unfortunately, most human beings tune in on the records of failure, privation and misery more easily because they have been so prevalent in the past responses of the human race. Even when they recall happy periods, it is a tendency of human nature to color them with emotional attachments and illusive perfections that only serve to restrict the cyclic flow of transformation. Key 10 has to do with comprehension of the universal laws that govern human destiny. All our acts — mental, emotional and physical — are really transformations of cosmic energy. When we comprehend these laws at work in our personal activities we will also grasp the way is born. By a misuse of creative imagination we develop ideas and images that cannot help but lead to misery, lack and sorrow. ‘The relationship between the situations and experiences in our personal life and the universal cycles of activity can be grasped. The important thing is to continuously remember to look for this relation- ship and reach with your consciousness to grasp its import. In mythology, Jupiter is called the sky father and the god of beneficent regulation. This refers to the regularity and rhythm dis- played by the motions of the heavenly bodies. Herein lies one secret of plenteous supply. Good fortune is the result of following a regularity and rhythm in our personal life that is akin to that set forth in the sky. Sufficient supply is inherent in the One Life. There is no real lack ex- cept in the consciousness of man. Through persistent, regular practice in remembering where supply comes from you will effect the dissolution of any affinity you may still have for the ancient patterns of fear and anxiety about material necessities. The persistent, rhythmic practice should emulate the regularity set forth in the cosmos until the new idea becomes incorporated into the cells of the body. Reiteration makes a new pattern so magnetic that the old fears — even with the power of most of the human race behind them — cannot dominate your consciousness and imagery for very long. What I want to emphasize here is that we do not really possess an intel- lectually perceived truth, to the extent where it can prevail against the ay VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 18 Power of ancient emotional ties, until we p: it with every cell of our bodies. Knowledge is not wisdom until it has become incorporated into every level of the personality complex. Note that violet, the color of Jupiter, is also the color assigned to Xesod, the automatic consciousness. Through repetition, the auto matic consciousness is impressed with patterns that affect its function as rebuilder and maintainer of the physical body. Jupiter is co-ruler in Pisces, Key 18, assigned to the cellular consciousn Regular, measured repetition ie equally essential in unfolding the expanded consciousness which is the goal of the Great Work. We have to make a pattern of aspiring for knowledge, of remembering our aspiration in all the activities of everyday life. Persistence is impera’ tive, even when it seems to bring little enlightenment, for there may be cycles when growth is not evident to us on the conscious level. Although regulation and repetition are essential in establishing or fixating a new pattern, this principle, as with all others, has its negative or unbalanced expression. There is the danger of becoming too engrossed in the form taken by a principle we have grasped. Right comprehension of cyclic, repetitive activity includes realization that there is no circumstance or situation or relationship or outer appear- ance that is forever permanent in the same form that it now presents itself tous. The ebb and flow of life, the rhythm of evolution, is the result of involvement in form, Mberation from form, and re-coagulation into a new form. When the Jupiterian vibration is over-emphasized or out of balance, it can express as a desire to hold on to what we think is good now; as the futile attempt to perpetuate the present. No matter how seemingly beneficial and positive certain forms may appear to be, or have been in the past, — whether they are reli- geous, political, cultural or personal forms of expression — none of them was ever meant to be, or canbe, permanent. This tendency to become emotionally tied to the past is one of the greatest hindrances to accelerated growth, and one of the most subtle, Instead of grasping past patterns for the purpose of projecting them into new expressions, nostalgia or emotionally glamorized memories have a tendency to keep us relating to some past cycle of our own expression or of world expre sion. The form becomes the object of admiration, and the basic princi- ple is lost sight of. Any specific form of expression, if held restricted for too long, becomes over-crystallized, dogmatic, stagnant of inspiration and adul- terated with error. There may be portions of the original form that are still valid and constructive which can be incorporated into the new cycle, but it will not be exactly the same. All forms in Yetzirah and Assiah are in a state of continuous flux. Nothing in the lower worlds of form should or can be preserved indefinitely, The result of trying is the sin of over-crystallization. Seek to grasp the cosmic principle inherent in any system or form. When we are not bound by precedent we move freely into the next phase of expression related to any principle, (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 18 In astrology this tendency toward over-conventionalism is associated with the Jupiterian type. Sagittarians, particularly, ar said to have psychological ties to conventions and material organiza- tions of the past. The divinatory meaning of the 4 of Cups is also re- lated to this same tendency. It is said to indicate material gain. Adherence to conventions, along with the intellectual comprehension and general good will associated with the Jupiterian type, gives an in- dividual the abilities and acceptance by others that bring suc: endeavors. However, the 4 of Cups also carries the meaning of surfeit, or discontent with material success. Success on this level can cause one to become acutely aware of poverty in another area; a poverty as to the veal meaning and purpose of life. Sooner or later satiation with material uccess initiates a search for something higher that awakens the Higher Mind into more conscious influence. This is the nudge from the Angel in Key 14 as He seeks to arouse the Higher Mind into wakefulness. This is what is meant by the doctrine that fulfillment of desire leads to awa- kening. To comprehend the meaning of past cycles from the level of Briah is to perceive with the Higher Mind. At this level the perception is free from the illusions in which the emotional nature clothes them, When the Higher Mind is active the memory record stored in Chesed is received into Tiphareth through the Path of Yod. From this level all experiences, all relationships, all situations in the lower worlds are seen to be ‘dealings of God with the soul'. One is able to perceive truly that forms serve for a certain greater or lesser cycle, but must eventu- ally be renewed to keep in rhythm with the continuously revolving wheel of life. Our aim, in the techniques for Jupiter, is to accelerate the acti- vity of this center to where it will be in harmonic relationship with the high tension vibrations from the Briatic level. We want to attune our Personal reception of images to the Briatic level of unlimited supply. TECHNIQUE, Have ready the 4 of Cups, Keys 10, 14 and 18, the Vayu-Apas Tattva and the violet color card. Don't forget to include the Tree of Life diagram with all Techniques. Begin with the deep rhythmic breathing and intonation of the Divine Names. Image yourself in the ocean of blue- violet light as the central figure of Key 21. Remember to make your color visualization moving, brilliant and fluidic, Intone Ah-oo-mm on no’ Fill yourself and all else with the orange vibration, centering yourself in Key 19 as you intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D. Re-affirm. your dedication to serve the Central Self in Tiphareth. Next visualize the red Mars symbol appearing below the navel and then expand the brilliant red light out and out until it inundates all with its vitalizing, activating vibration. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note C. (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 18 Return to the orange vibration by expanding it out and out from your heart. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D as once again you bring to mind your dedication to serve the One Ego. Visualize a point of violet light appearing in the vicinity of the solar plexus. As you expand it out and out, image yourself at the cen- tral point of the Wheel of Fortune, united to the motionless point within the ever-moving wheel of evolution, i-¢, Pause to meditate on the symbols before you; the 4 of Cups sym- bolizes reception of the inexhaustible riches of the Briatic World, which is the true source of all supply. Key 10 relates us to the ever-turning wheel of evolution and gives us faith that we will surely reach our goal. Key 14 attunes us to the Angel, the Preparer of the Pathway to freedom. Key 18 shows us the Path, ever ascending in essence, even when we are Seemingly descending into the valley of experience. (Meditation) Remaining at the central point of the wheel in the ocean of violet light, give your meditation: "Lam ready to move willingly with the ever-turning wheel of life. No longer will I tarry on the fascinating by-ways of past glories, Ihave seen the Eternal in the mutable, the One in the many. Iknow that the only lasting gift is the gift of the Angel. He is my SELF, bestowing the tests that prepare me and un- veiling the truth that guides my feet up the Path to the summit of the mountain where He is awaiting my return. " Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note Af and again feel the violet vibra- tion attuning every cell in your body for reception of Briatic influence. Again expand the orange vibration out and out from your heart. As you expand it outward fill it with the feeling of love. Feel yourself as the transparent instrument of the One Ego, who is also the Angel, as He performs His work of Love for all the evolving lives on the ever- turning wheel of manifestation, Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D. Perform the Integration Ritual wherein you receive each of the colors into yourself. Remember in this connection that this lesson stresses the importance of repetition, reiteration and orderly sequence. As advanced aspirants you have undoubtedly come to consider the unfoldment of spiritual enlightenment of primary importance. Do not overlook the great value of reiteration in transformation, The little lives who make up your vehicles respond to a patterned beat. Repetition is not vain, nor does it become a hindrance until the higher patterns are perfectly incorporated into the physical cells. The work we are giving you, under direction of the Inner School, holds its own transitional flow of continuous evolving motion. The Inner Holy Planets we are activating are similarly in continuously evolving motion, so that our reception and realization of the planetary vibrations on any given day are not just the same as they were the day before. ## (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Nineteen (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) Although Jupiter is said to be the planet of good fortune, never- theless, on the planes of personality, this vibration can express nega tively as over-optimism, lack of discrimination and consequent bad judgment. Some mystically inclined human beings perceive truly enough the unity of life and its ultimate perfection, but they have not yet deve- Joped the mental discrimination which is able to relate this perception to situations and needs on the lower planes. They apply the long view to the personality levels, where it does not apply in the same way. It is true we are not our personality, but within the cycles of evolutionary growth we are responsible for perfecting our mental, emo- tional and physical bodies of expression, The expanded view needs to be applied in ways that will perfect expression in the Kingdom, This requires right measurement of just what is necessary to bring about the greatest beneficence in any given situation. If we attempt to apply the ential perfection of every human being to the evolving levels of ex Pression we run into error. When the expanded view is devoid of finite comprehension it is wrongly measured. To individuals in this cycle, on this plane, at this time, is attributed a beauty, a comprehension and a lovingness that they do not yet possess as a personality, Jn varying degrees this misapplication of the long view and sub- sequent misuse of beneficence gets many aspirants into trouble. What is in need of unfolding is discrimination. It is essential to the proper use of the Jupiter vibration, particularly on the emotional level related to Yetzirah. When there is lack of discrimination, emotional attach- ments and unthinking sentimentality can lead to the weakness of mercy where severity would be the greater good. Astrologically, the 4 of Swords, Chesed in Yeteirah, is related to Gemini and to this very dis~ criminative faculty. As we work with the Jupiter vibration, one of our aims is to de- velop a higher comprehension of the cycles of development as they ex- press through human personality. We want to develop our ability to dis cern the point on the wheel! of an individual, or a group of individuals, so that we will be able to give them the quality of beneficence that is in harmony with true compassion. In time and space a given personality may be yet almost totally dominated by the lower nature. The Divine Self within is unable to ex- Press on the personality levels while the form nature rules with its Snelant demands and desires. Such a one is yet too immersed in matter 'ypnotized by form to be helped merely by repeated forgiveness of his evils or weaknesses, Indeed, such permiosivencsa can serve to strengthen the hold of his lower nature weaknesse: mercy aids evil and harmful tendencies by interfering with the gift of Fepercussion, For repercussion alone, in the life of the evolving indi- q) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 19 vidual, is what finally tempers the Vital Soul and prepar nality for treading the Path of Return. the perso- Of course, most human beings do not consider the Angel's work of tempering the lower nature as merciful. They cry out against the repercussions of their own ignorance. Yet, on the level of the Higher Mind, Chesed and Geburah are balanced and equal. Mercy is not above Severity. The Angel in Key 14 bestows the gift of test and trial and the gift of mercy and forgiveness, He bestows them rightly measured so that they are in harmony with the recipient's rn ES evolutionary at~ tainment. This is one meaning of the Measuring Intelligence attributed to Chesed. True giving is giving that which will accelerate growth. This, of course, does not mean that mercy and forgiveness are to be discarded. It is a matter of measurement, One individual, for example, might have great intellectual development and personal mag- netism, 80 that his influence over others is profound. If such a power- ful personality were seriously underdeveloped in his feeling for others and ability to express love, he would wield his personality powers with a ruthless selfishness that would be very destructive to the forces of Light. Because of his seriously unbalanced power he would require equally powerful repercussions and trials to make him sufficiently aware of the consequences of his evil use of power. Repeated mercy toward such a one would only cause him to feel contempt ‘On the other hand, a much less developed individual with only the rudiments of a love nature might be better helped by benevolent for- giveness of his ignorant misdeeds. Such treatment would serve as a constructive example that could help him to unfold his latent beneficent qualities. From this you should see that the right measure of mercy for any particular person or situation cannot be over-simplified. It is de- pendent upon comprehension of the doctrine of cycles in human develop- ment. Such comprehension is the result of a higher frequency attune- ment to the storehouse of universal memory. Although perfect compre- hension of the growth level of any individual is reserved for Adepts, the use of discrimination is the initial requirement. As you continue with this work and open the inner sensorium on the intuitional level you will become increasingly able to ‘read! individual records with the quality of comprehension that will also be aware of the right measure of mercy in any given situation, Undeveloped mediumistic types are able to read, to some extent, the past and future of others because their inner senses are open to the Yetziratic astral level of the Akashic Record; however, their reception is inaccurate and colored by race error because most of them totally lack the comprehension associated with Higher Mind awareness, As in Astrology, mediumistic readers are particularly inaccurate when they attempt to read for anyone more developed than themselves, Since most mediums, psychic readers and so forth are limited in development be- cause their psychiom is the result of a left-over tendency from an earlier (2) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 19 cycle of human expression, their counsel is always misleading to any true aspirant. ‘What I want you to realize is that this same ability to read the Akashic Record, when it is the result of opening the inner sensorium through practice of the Great Work, is what will give you the ability to measure right in your service to others because you will become in- creasingly able to discern their cycle of development and be rightly guided in the quality of beneficence you give. TECHNIQUE For this lesson the meditation symbols are the 4 of Swords; Tarot Keys 10, 14 and 18; the Vayu-Apas Tattva; and the violet color card, Besides our regular practice with the colors and corresponding intonations, I am going to give you an added visualization practice that will help accelerate purification of the Vital Soul, For the regular practice, begin as usual by imaging yourself immersed in blue-violet light and centered in Key 21. Remember, the Saturn/Key 21 vibration is the Serpent Power which is essential in the transformation of the personality self into the vehicle of perfected adept- ship. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note A. : Next, image yourself immersed in the orange solar vibration. Expand it in globular form from a point within your heart. Feel your- If receiving and giving the love substance as you intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D, Dedicate all your use of power to the One Ego in Tiphareth. Now image the vibrant red Mars symbol appearing below the navel. As you visualize it expanding out and out, feel vitalized! activated! alive! energized! — both physically and mentally, Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note C; then return to the orange liquid light by expanding it out from your heart until it completely replaces the Mars vibration, Again intone on the note D and dedicate all your use of power to the One Ego. Now visualize the violet light. Expand it outward from a point near the solar plexus until it permeates all the directions of space. As you meditate on the symbols before you, determine to exercise more discrimination in your desire to serve others. (Meditation): “Linvite the Angel to purify the Vital Soul of me, so that Ican receive His ever-flowing Wisdom, unimpeded by error; 80 that I'can flow it out again, rightly measured to best serve the ever-turning wheel of life." Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note A# as you visualize yourself cen- tered and motionless at the point within the turning wheel of Key 10. Again expand the orange solar vibration out until it has replaced the violet light. Intone Ah-oo-mm on the note D. Finish this practice as usual with the Integration Ritual wherein you reach up and receive each of the vibrations of light separately. (3) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 19 cial Water~Color Ritual This Water-Color Ritual is to be performed many times each day. It includes visualization of the colors without the corresponding sounds. Persistence in its practice will help you to open your inner sensorium more rapidly, The purification, always related to water, will accelerate transformation of the Vital Soul. We want to train the automatic level of consciousness so that it reacts to all things as expressions of liquid light. Truly we are fluidic beings. As we become more aware of the flowing quality of all forms, we will more easily be able to release ourselves from any structur: oferror. The dissolution of inharmonious patterns can be accelerated by a growing realization that they are but temporary shapes taken by the water of substance. This inner water can be reshaped just as water is shaped by the vessel into which it is poured, Remember, too, as you perform this ritual, that nothing can withstand the power of water. Think of the destructive power of flood waters and the directed power of water in dams and reservoirs, Per- sist in this ritual until you find yourself remembering it every time you drink a glass of water. Fill a glass with water, First, bring to mind the image of Key 21, As you look at the water in the glass, visualize it as a blue-violet Liquid, Take feel and see the blue-violet water entering your body and flowing, flowing to every part, then overflowing into your aura, Feel the water washing all through you with its cleansing, awakening, purifying vibration, Now visualize the water in the glass as orange liquid light. Re- call briefly to mind Key 19 and affirm your identity with the vibratory keynote of Solar consciousness. As you take a sip of the brilliant orange Liquid, feel it! see it! — entering your body, pouring through every cell, harmonizing cellular consciousness with that of the Sun until each cell thrills with the vibrant warmth of solar energy. Next, visualize the water in your glass as liquid scarlet. Take a sip of the activating, initiating Mars vibration in liquid form. Feel it entering your body, energizing it, awakening it to increased activity; washing through any structures of error, washing them away with the inexorable power of water, Next, see the water transform to liquid violet. As you take a sip, affirm to yourself that you are permeating your body consciousness with the expansive, beneficent Jupiter vibration. Proceed with the colors related to the remaining Inner Holy Planets. You have received some instruction on them in earlier courses, Sip green liquid light for the Venus vibration, blue for the Moon and yellow for the Mercury Cen- ter, Take seven sips in all, each with the conscious intention of re~ ceiving and harmonizing the seven basic vibrations, This simple ritual takes very little time to do; much less than it has taken to describe. It can be performed any number of times during the day. However, it is advisable to carefully observe two special per= formances at the same time each day — one in the morning upon rising and the other before retiring. If possible, have a special glass that you reserve for this ritual, particularly when you perform it at the special times + (4) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH Lesson Twenty (from the transcripts of class lectures by Ann Davies) In Assiah, the grasp and comprehension related to Chesed and Jupiter have to do with an ability to regulate, organize and manage material affairs. The 4 of Pentacles, well dignified, carries this divinatory meaning. Regularity in outer endeavors is an important — part of attuning to the cosmic cycles. The rhythmic, measured motions of natural forces should make us realize that success in any area of life is based on a similar rhythm and regularity. One mark of capacity to grasp the importance of regulation and order is expressed by proper utilization of time. When we apportion our time deliberately, we make the strongest possible suggestion to subconsciousness that we want to be in harmony with the cosmic rhythms Regulation of time, however, does not mean continuous labor or study. It should include periods of rest, ease and pleasure, for they are just as important as periods of deep study and meditation, This principle is apparent in the cyclic or spiral motion of all things. Note the Path of Return pictured in Key 18. It reaches one peak and then descends the other side before ascent can be started to the next higher peak. Growth and development are not the result of a continuous climb. We descend from a previous height in order to assimilate ex- perience and receive the rest that is necessary for our ascent to the next summit, No one should expect to be always at the zenith of activity. That is not in harmony with the cosmic ebb and flow. All in nature ris reaches a zenith, descends into less activity and then begins to rise again. In this spiral ascent, each zenith is a bit higher than the one before. This is why climbing a mountain has been used so often as a symbol for the occult path. Grasping this cyclic activity in your own life should help you to understand periods of seeming inactivity and inertia, As the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces, Key 18, corresponds to the end of a cycle of growth. During such periods we gather strength and incorporate previously reached heights of intellectual and spiritual activity into our physical vehicles in Preparation for beginning the climb to the next peak of attainment. Intelligent application of proper sequence in our affairs is also the basis for the abundant supply and good fortune associated with Jupiter and Chesed. We need not be paupers to be spiritual, as you have often heard. Aspirants may go through cycles of material poverty in order to under- stand the needs of those who are in serious want, but, in itself, poverty is no mark of spirituality, ‘What the world recognizes as success is certainl : 'y not the whole of it but it does reveal a well~integrated personality. Most of the people who are comfortably well off in the world are those who are able to or- ganize their time and efforts. Success in any area of life is the result a) VIBRATORY POWERS OF QABALAH: 20 of applying self-discipline toward gaini: 3 gaining the needed knowledge and skills that will bring about the desired goal, ‘Whether or not that goal brings contentment is another matter. Material success may be, and often i desire to appear better than others, but it does revs rr importance of order and good management. This grasp should not be discarded in our search for higher expressions of success, We need merely to reorient the direction to more unselfish and inclusive goal Worldly success of this kind is usually attributed to keen intel- lect and knowledge, Yet it always includes a conscious or unconscio' use of the powers of imagery and suggestion. In elementary metaphy- sics and similar groups these powers are used more consciously and deliberately — but not necessarily for higher goals. The idea is given out by some of these groups that, through orderly, rhythmic use of imagery and suggestion, one can impose his personal will or ideas on the Universal Consciousness and force it to bring worldly abundance or whatever into manifestation. In the lower worlds this method works to a degree because the consciousness of man is formative in the Yetziratic substance which the foundation for the forms in Assiah. However, unless one has grasped the truth that human consciousness is a Ray of the One I Am, the forms manifest bring little fulfillment. Until desire is concentered with the Universal Creativeness of Briah, the forms brought forth do not bring any more lasting happiness or true fulfillment than those brought forth by the business man who has learned how to make his business succeed. However, this use of imagery does serve, even when it brings negative results. It can help us to grasp the power of suggestion and realize that it is in operation all the time. Furthermore, if we seek beneath the surface, the distortions inherent in the situations we mani- fest can help us to unveil certain errors in our subconscious responses. Eventually disappointment and satiation with material acquisitions brings 18 to the point where we know that for us the use of imagery and sugge: tion should be directed toward spiritual becoming and no longer toward mere having or doing. We cannot image in ways that bring true fulfillment until we have dedicated all our use of desire to the Higher Self. Dedication will open you to the higher images descending from Briah that embody Atsiluthic purpose. Then what comes into manifestation through your instrumen- tality will be the embodiment of a portion of the Great Plan for bringing about the accelerated evolution of the whole human rac In Astrology, Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, Key 7, which portrays the Chariot as the vehicle of personality. The Greater Beneficence for all the kingdoms of nature is to be brought into manifestation through the instrumentality of human personality. When our desires harmonize with the Great Plan, all our real needs are fulfilled. (2)
