Note. The AUF 400 range and Dual HP pumos (Fig. 4)
should Ge cessed with both sides worxing simultaneously,
whereas she AUF 500 range pumpe (Fig. 3) which comprise
Dumping units must have each side tested
independent,
Gual Type L pumps may be tested with the squipment
shown in Fig. 4 and AUF Type 200 L'with the equipment
Showa in Fig: & after removing the pressure head. timulator
and connecting the outlet pipe direct to the trancfer block,
using a length of plastic tubing to extend the inlet pipe in
ech eases,
(2) Priming and dativery check
When switched on, the pump should prime, from dry,

hoje will be able to carry off ali the liquid pumpec, and che
paraffin will not flow over the top, This consticutes a form of
Flowmeter which establishes in a simple manner whether the
pump is giving a sucient ouspur ar not
(3) Air teak check
‘When the pump is first starsed, air bubbies will be mixed
with the liquid discharged from the pipe projecting down
wards into the Slowmeter, but chese bubbles should cease
after the pump has been cunning for a minute or 30. If they
do net, an aie leas ingicated either in the pump itself or the
connecting unions, and these must be ettiied,
(A) Valve seat check
st the pump run for aboue ten minutes and then test as
follows:
With the delivery tap curned completely aff, the pump
should stand without repeating for a minimum of 20 seconds.

Aressing the valve seat, On pumps fitted with Meiinex valven:
malfunction of the inlec valve must be investigated
(8) Maximum delivery check
‘On AUF 300, AUF 400, Dual L, and Dual HP pumps, in
addition to the’ delivery check carried aut in para. (2) it is
ecessary to time the delivery as follows:
AUR 300 4 pine in 30 seconds
AUF 400 4 pine in 15 seconds
Bat 1 pint in 22 seconds
Duat HP
4 pine in 27 seconds
(6) Minimum delivery check
Check with the tap turned on only slightly. Also check
that. the tip of che spring blade is pressed gradually inwards
co reduce the stroke, the pump continues to work with an
increasing frequency until it evencuaily stops because there
ig ne gap left between the points.
(7) Reduced vottage check

it is a 12-vole pump, or on § volts f it ig a Evolt pump, and
it should work sausfactorily under chese canviviows alehough
probably with a reduced output,
(B) Sparking check
Check that excessive sparking does not cake place between
the contact points—some moderate degree is permiavibla,
