Picking: Global Institute of Studies Diploma of Mechanical Engineering DME 3802 Industrial Engineering

The document describes an experiment to compare two material handling techniques - bucket brigade and zone picking - by having students assemble orders from different arrangements of ingredients and measuring the time taken; bucket brigade involves students passing ingredients down a line to complete orders while zone picking assigns each student to a dedicated ingredient zone; the results aim to demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of each technique in terms of efficiency and their real-world industrial applications.
