Ronny Reader,
Head Principal
Be A Bee School
145 Address St. Arizona Mills
Tempe, ST 12345

Dear Mr. Ronny Reader:

My name is Zainab Kothari and I am interested in applying for a job at your primary school.
I pursued a degree in Islamic studies and Arabic philosophy for 7 years at Al-Jamea-tus-
Saifiyah University, located in India. Later, I earned a degree at the Arizona State University
in Educational Studies. This opened a lot of perspectives in my mind about the world of
education, and gave me a stronger purpose on why I should pursue my dream to teach a
primary school. I want to not only teach the formal curriculum to them, but also combine
the hidden curriculum. I believe being aware and knowledgeable about cultural factors in a
school is vital for a teacher, as they affect student learning and behavior.

There a few concepts I thoroughly studied in a course about diversity that may highly
benefit the job of a teacher. I would like to elaborate upon 2 topics - Race and Ethnicity, and
Multiculturalism.

 Race and Ethnicity - I learned how children can have an impact when there is
discrimination in a school, and how many African-American children drop out of
schools because the teachers can’t relate to them. I want to be open and
acknowledge different races, rather than pretending that it doesn’t exist. I want to
treat students differently, as long as the treatment is fair and appropriate, to
accomplish the goal of learning.
 Multiculturalism is one of the most important concepts I studied in my course. A
thoughtful woman named Jen Holladay advised, “Progress can be both positive and
negative”. This opens a lot of opportunities for children to embrace new methods of
learning. I want to apply this in my job by showing different perspectives on a
certain subject, such as learning about history but from different people’s views.
This encourages children to speak from their own experiences, and opens a
platform where they can share their thoughts according to their values and
principles.
The teachers you search for have a powerful influence over the children they teach. They
need to have good classroom management skills, good communication with parents and
knowledge about the subject matter and school standards. I want to establish such qualities
in my classroom to help the children learn in the best way possible. I feel one of the main
strengths of a great teacher is to know how to empathize with students. By hiring me, your
school’s students will have the benefit to build certain academic skills, to really look at
issues from multiple perspectives and enable themselves to think critically. This will not
only strengthen them in the learning atmosphere, but will empower them to be prepared to
participate in our diverse democracy.

My contact information is attached to this letter. I would love to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Zainab Kothari
