B7A2 New Technology Tools Lesson - Kidblog

Anticipatory Set 1. The teacher will ask students to share their knowledge of blogs
and blogging.
2. The teacher will clarify student responses as needed. The
definition of a blog and its purpose will be explained, and the
activity for the day will be introduced. Explanations will be
illustrated through shared examples of previous student blogs.
3. Class discussion will be held based on etiquette to maintain when
blogging in the classroom. The teacher will create bullet points of
student responses on a Google Doc as the class discusses rules to

follow. These rules will be projected on the board as the teacher
edits the Google Doc. Then, the Doc will be shared with students
in their Google Drive.
4. Students will also discuss actions to take in the event that a student
finds a peer violating any of the rules for blogging. This will also
be outlined for students in the Google Doc of rules.
Procedures 1. The teacher will demonstrate for students how to get started
creating their blog on Kidblog. Questions from students will be
answered throughout as needed.
2. Students will be directed to create their first blog entry based on a
day in their life. They will use this as their introduction to their
blogging world. They will also be encouraged to mention topics
they may find themselves discussing as a blogger.
3. Students will be provided time to type their blog entry.
4. Students who finish their blog entry early will be encouraged to
respond to other students’ blog entries.
Closing 1. The teacher will close the lesson by mentioning any observations
of students’ progress and effort.
2. Students will be asked to share what they also observed
throughout the lesson or their own experience of starting a blog.
3. Students will complete an exit ticket on paper individually:
a. Describe your experience using Kidblog. Did you find it
easy? Enjoyable? Why or why not?
b. Are there other methods or tools you prefer to share
writing?
c. What topic would you recommend for a future blog entry?
Assessments Students will be evaluated based on their participation during all
activities.
The teacher will be monitoring and making notes of observations.
Students will be evaluated on the completion of their blog entry on
Kidblog.
