A. Complete the following sentences by using the Simple Present or the Present Continuous
tenses for the verbs in brackets. Study the example before you start the exercise.

Gerunds and Infinitives
When do you use a gerund and when do you use an infinitive?
Are they interchangeable and do they change the meaning of a sentence?
Study the examples given and then do the exercises that follow. Pay attention to the structure
of the sentences.

Example
I would like you to open the cupboard in the morning.
Opening the cupboard in the morning is a good idea.

I will always remember hearing her sing during school assembly.


I am going to hear what she had to say.

Complete the following sentences by using either the gerund or the infinitive of the verb in
brackets.
