• M & M Transmission working can be split again into
three major aggregates level which are integral part of
transmission:-

1. Clutch

2. Gear box

• Working of clutch:-

The clutch is engaged by operating clutch lever thus by


pushing clutch box resulting in relaxation in friction plate
clamping force. The friction plates starts rotating and
torque will be transmitted.
This will stop further torque transmission from engine to
gear box.
As soon as the clutch lever is released the clutch gets
disengaged thus resulting in torque transmission.

• Working of Gear Box:-

The torque is transmitted through engine gear to cluster /


lay shaft wherein the speed gears are constantly
meshed. The appropriate gear can be selected by using
gear selecting mechanism.
The gear box can also be engaged in reverse resulting in
reverse action on propeller shaft

• Working of Differential:-

The drive received from main shaft by engaging an


appropriate gear is then transferred to FD gear.
FD gear is fitted with differential cage with sun gear &
satellite gear inside the differential cage
Then the torque is transmitted to propeller shaft through
sun gear.
