Transfer Functions:: Justine D. Daquioag

The document describes simulations of sinusoidal and step responses using transfer functions. For sinusoidal response, increasing the frequency results in more oscillations completing within the same time period. Higher amplitude inputs produce higher amplitude outputs. For step response, increasing values in the numerator (k value) causes faster response with higher output, while increasing the denominator (time constant) slows the response.

SINUSOIDAL RESPONSE

Description: Constant values of sine wave and increasing k values with constant the

denominator of transfer function

Comment/ Observation: Increasing k values only causes higher waves, the graph shows that

their all completing one oscillation at equal time period.

Description: Constant amplitude and phase with increasing frequency and constant transfer

function

Comment/Observation: As the frequency increases the number of waves also increases. Lower

frequency has longer time period and forms higher waves. The graph that has a lower frequency

have a smoother graph.

Description: Constant sinewave values and increasing constant time value for the transfer

functions

Comment/Observation: Increase in time constants results in consuming larger time for

producing output.
Description: Constant value of transfer function and constant sine wave values except the

amplitude

Comment/Observation: All graph can complete one oscillation at the same time period but

increasing value of amplitude gives an increase in the output or higher curves/waves in lower

time period.

SUMMARY:

All graph shows that as frequency increases, the more curves it produces and the lesser the time

period to complete one oscillation. Higher amplitude also shows higher output, increase in the

numerator of transfer function results in higher waves and increase in denominators or in time

constants gives longer time period for the system to finish one oscillation.
STEP RESPONSE

Description: Constant step line values and k values with increasing denominator of transfer

functions

Comment/Observations: Making k values constant and increasing the denominator makes the

system sluggish with lower output and lower time value makes the system stops in producing

output faster.
Description: Constant values for step line but increasing k value for the numerator and

increasing time constant in the denominator

Comment/Observations: Increasing k values makes the system faster and increasing the time

constant gives the system longer time for increasing the system output.
Description: Constant values for step line and constant denominator with increasing k value for

the numerator in the transfer function

Comment/Observations: Increasing k value make the system move faster resulting with higher

output but at a certain time all output become constant.

Description: Increasing final value for step line with increasing k value for the numerator with

constant denominator

Comment/Observations: The system with lower k values and lower final value for step line

causes lower output and as the k decreases, the slower the system and the faster it stops in

producing an output.

Description: Constant values for step line and increasing k values and numerator for transfer

function

Comment/Observation: Increase in k values together with the numerator results in higher output

consuming lesser time.

SUMMARY

For step function, increasing k and the final value of step line makes the system move faster giving

higher output and also increase in time constant gives a system having a longer time for producing

more outputs.
