The Olympics
The Olympics are an exciting event celebrated world-wide in which ath-
letes from every country compete for the title of Olympic Champion. The
first Olympics were held in Athens, Greece, in 1896. Since then, every
four years a different country has hosted the Olympics. Cities put a lot
of time and effort into trying to win the honour of hosting the Olympics.
Some important questions that must be answered include: Where will the
athletes and spectators sleep? Is there an adequate transportation sys-
tem to move all of the people? Are there plenty of dining options? Is there
enough land to allow for building any necessary facilities? Are there other
sites that will attract visitors?

Your first task is to complete the chart, using information found on Google
Earth, in order to see how the 10 most recent Olympic cities meet these
requirements. As you are exploring Google Earth, start thinking about
where you think the next summer and winter Olympics should be.
